Well, the woman who was currently chirping in this damned YouTube video I'd been trying my best to focus on.
Normally, I'd never do things like this. You know, stepping inside the kitchen to cook a classic breakfast like this. Mrs Smith, my housekeeper, often did it. But I had given her the day off, and here I was, doing something I'd never done in my life.
If you asked me the reason I was doing it, the truth was, I couldn't tell either. But I felt the compulsive urge to prove myself to the woman in my room. Or it could be that I wanted her to feel welcome and less of a burden.

I paused the video, turning sharply as I heard her voice. She stood with her hands crossed at her back and her head bowed. Then she looked up to stare at me as my gaze swept over her, lingering on her creamy thighs and straight legs.
