Hades's gaze lingered on the carriage where he had hidden Evangeline. She had been a good listener, remaining exactly where he told her to stay, yet a quiet worry gnawed at him all the same. It would only take one careless moment for these humans to notice the carriage, and he would not allow that to happen.
He would not kill them, at least not yet, unless they dared to come anywhere near her.
Only now did Ratnik seem to realize that no matter what she tried, Hades had no intention of killing them. They could stab him again, shoot him again, exhaust every weapon they carried, but all it would amount to was empty hands and wasted effort.
This was going against what she had planned!
All they have to do was sacrifice one soul. If Hades killed just even one of their own people, the young hunter who was still learning how to go against a fae, and no one would stop her from giving the order to hunt Hades.
