The next day arrived swiftly, the morning sun spilling soft golden rays across Gabe and Fred's faces, warming the quiet room.
For the first time in a while, they had both chosen to sleep through the night...no overthinking, no fear, just a silent agreement to forget everything that had happened, if only for a few hours.
Soon, Gabe stirred.
He shifted under the sheets before slowly sitting up, a lazy yawn escaping his lips as he stretched his arms high above his head. His muscles loosened with the movement, and he let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Beside him, Fred began to wake as well.
He blinked a few times, still groggy, before pushing himself up into a sitting position. Almost instinctively, he mirrored Gabe's actions....stretching his arms and yawning softly, though there was a faint tension lingering in his expression.
Gabe turned to him with a gentle smile.
"Good morning," he said warmly, his voice calm and reassuring. "I believe you're feeling better now… right?"
