Meanwhile, Alex and Damien remained in the dining hall. Both of them had initially felt the urge to run after Gabe and Fred, but in the end they restrained themselves and sat back down instead.
Damien leaned back in his chair, his brows furrowed with frustration. "What do you think is going on with him?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as he glanced at Alex. "He's been acting strange. Haven't you noticed?"
Alex let out a long, tired sigh and ran a hand through his hair. "I honestly don't know, Damien. Just like you, I'm still trying to figure things out myself," he replied. "Besides, I'm already dealing with Gabe's reaction. He clearly doesn't feel good about finding out that I'm an enigma."
He paused for a moment before continuing, his voice filled with mild frustration.
