Eryx looked away, but there was no escape. Three pairs of eyes were on him, cutting him open piece by piece.
Azrael's voice finally came low, trembling with the urge to kill. "If she wasn't behind that door right now," he growled, "I'd break every bone in your body."
Rhydric's expression didn't change.
And for the first time that night…Eryx realized he wasn't just being confronted.
He was being judged by the only people whose opinions mattered.
Eryx's chest rose and fell, his jaw tight, eyes burning with humiliation and anger.
Their stares were knives, cutting into him from every direction.
Theo's words echoed in the hallway like a slap he couldn't dodge.
Azrael looked one breath away from shifting and ripping into him.
Rhydric hadn't blinked once, his stare cold enough to freeze bone.
Eryx finally barked out a humorless laugh…sharp, bitter and exhausted.
