Miranda didn't know how she got into this situation, the food had arrived but the mentally deranged vampire insisted he fed her or she starved to death. Why was he treating her like she was a toddler or a disabled person?
So here she sat on his laps, her back resting on his chest while he fed her the chicken soup that the maids had brought.
"Say ahhh" he murmured raising the spoon to her mouth. Miranda almost rolled her eyes, he didn't need to say such embarrassing things as she would open her mouth weather he said 'ahh' or not. She was so hungry and here he was playing stupid games instead of letting her feed herself.
She had tried getting off his laps earlier but it was like watching a mouse wiggle under a tiger's paw.
She wondered how she had survived for 7 days without food or water, why didn't she die of dehydration? How she had so much strength to move or even think was a miracle.
" Here, have some bread" the deranged vampire said, cutting tiny bite pieces and stuffing it inside her mouth.
" What's your name?" He asked while feeding her
"Mi-"
" Not like that would matter now that you've become my slave, I even gave you a better name 'white swan'" he interrupted looking proud of himself for naming her after an animal.
Miranda looked at the crazy vampire in disbelief, how did he know the name he gave her was better than her original name if he hasn't heard her real name yet?
" But go on, I would like to hear your name" he continued.
" Miranda. My name is Miranda" she croaked out. Her throat was still sore from being dry for days.
"Miranda? What a boring name" he mocked
" Why didn't your parents give you a better name? Look at the name I gave you, isn't it better?
Miranda turned her head slightly and glared sharply at him. What crime did she commit in her past life to catch the eyes of such a deranged vampire?it hasn't been up to a day yet he's already driving her crazy, imagine being with him for weeks.
"Careful there. Glaring at your master is a bit rude don't you think?. We wouldn't want to end up with me ' mistakenly ' gouging out your eyes now would we?" He said playfully. His question sent a shiver down Miranda's spine, what was she doing trying to provoke him? This vampire was unpredictable and if she wanted to survive she had to please him, at least till she escapes from this hellhole.
" I'm full" she said trying to get off his laps, she wouldn't want him to snap her neck and call it an accident. Not that anyone in this kingdom would care if she died or not.
" What are you doing" he asked watching her wriggling like a worm, trying to get off his laps.
" I'm trying to go lie on the bed, I wouldn't want your legs to become sore and stiff after carrying me on your laps for so long" she murmured innocently but they both knew it was a lie. She didn't care if his legs became sore and stiff, heck! She didn't even care if his two legs turned to dust, she just wanted to get away from this deranged vampire.
" Nonsense! I have the most sturdy legs in all the land, you weight less than a feather" he bragged
" Hold still" he said firmly, making her sit straight in alert.
" You have to be a good swan and please your master, we wouldn't want becoming a dead swan would we?" He suddenly whispered in her ear making her eyes widen in fear. She sat straighten on his laps her back barely touching his chest like she wanted to put as much distance between them as possible.
He finally let out a sigh and put her on top the bed after a few minutes much to Miranda's relief. she immediately laid down on the bed exhaustion kicking in making her vision blurry.
He walked to what she assumed was a walk in closet then came back a few minutes later carrying a brown wooden box, he sat beside her much to her disappointment.
What was inside the box? Was it a new torture device he wanted to test on her? She thought, her already pale face turning even paler.
He finally opened the box and brought out a white leather collar embedded with pearls and diamonds, on the front of the collar was written ' Desmond's white swan' Desmond? So that was his name. The collar was very beautiful, she would have admired it more if only she wasn't the one who was going to be wearing it.
" Beautiful isn't it? " He asked looking proud of himself.
" I had this ordered yesterday when I went into town for that stupid meeting. Do you like it?" He asked eagerly.
"Yes" she answered quietly.
Liked ? No she loved it, this was perfect, she could sell the diamonds and pearls embedded in the collar immediately she escapes. It was enough money for her to leave the kingdom with her mother and start a new comfortable life where they would never have to go hungry ever again.
She could feel the excitement coursing through her veins, her mind already racing in anticipation.
Desmond suddenly put the collar on her neck, snapping her out of her schemes, she heard a 'click' sound and saw that he had locked the collar with a small key dangling from a silver chain necklace.
" There. Now everyone would know you belong to me and keep their hands and fangs off you."
" We wouldn't want a vampire draining you immediately I leave the castle to run an errand Would we? Imagine you becoming a dry swan" he joked, chucking like he had just told a good joke.
Miranda pursed her lips in irritation, she had to get used to this vampire before she ended up strangling him or try to because she was sure he would kill her before she could do anything.
He finally walked to where she assumed was the washroom after putting the silver chain with the collars key around his neck.
Miranda relaxed on the bed in exhaustion, she wondered why the vampire didn't give her a room in the servant quarters because right now, she feared he was going to give her an heart attack.
But on the bright side she was laying on a soft bed in a luxurious room with her stomach full and a collar worth a fortune on her neck. She tried to cheer herself up but knew the vampire could get bored and snap her neck. Perhaps he was feeding her to fatten her up so he could drain her dry. Miranda shivered at the thought of being a 'dry swan'
She finally fell asleep after a few minutes, after tossing and turning on the oversized bed
