Chapter 35 - Chapter 12: The Little Blind Boy (Part 2)

In the days that followed, Hui Yue would often come to the small hut to see Yu Bai. She was afraid that if he discovered her identity as a member of the Demon Clan, it would cause unnecessary misunderstandings, so she lied to him, saying she was a girl from the Divine Clan.

She didn't think too much at first, just wanted to heal this man's injuries and let him leave, so she deceived him.

The Demon Clan and the Divine Clan were like water and fire, inherently incompatible. If this man knew who she really was, with his stubborn and headstrong nature, he would probably rather die than drink a drop of her medicine.

At the beginning, Yu Bai was very wary of this woman, but over time, he found that she meant no harm and even helped heal his injuries, so he wasn't as resistant as he initially was.

As they interacted, Hui Yue learned about the man's identity. His name was Yu Bai, the Crown Prince of the West Sea, originally a White Jade Serpent. During the war with the Demon Clan, the Demon King extracted his Divine Marrow, causing him to sustain serious injuries and fall from the heavens.

Hui Yue could only lament her bad luck. If she had known, she'd rather be scolded by Aunt Pei Wen than deliver the heavy burden. Otherwise, she wouldn't have encountered such events and she couldn't just stand by and do nothing.

She trusted her own conscience. Since she came across him, she couldn't just act unjustly or immorally.

Let's just say that Yu Bai's fate was not to end here!

"What's your name?" Yu Bai asked her.

Hui Yue squatted in front of him, rolled her eyes, and randomly made up a name, saying playfully, "My name is Xiao Yue."

"Xiao Yue? No full name?" Yu Bai asked.

"Because I was born during the Xiao Yue month, that's why I'm called Xiao Yue. That's my full name." Hui Yue made up.

Yu Bai nodded thoughtfully: "I see, I was impolite, Miss Xiao Yue."

Hui Yue couldn't help but laugh at how gullible Yu Bai was, calling him a big fool in her heart.

Yu Bai couldn't see, and when Hui Yue checked his body, she found out that the reason for his blindness was the extraction of his Divine Marrow, causing the loss of his Divine Power. Once it was restored, he would regain his sight. Unfortunately, in this world, to cure such a condition, one either needed to find the Ancient Immortal Grass—Sha Zhi, or transfer another's Divine Marrow to him, both methods being extraordinarily difficult.

Hui Yue was just a small medical girl, how could she ever cure Yu Bai, but she couldn't bring herself to say it, not wanting to upset him.

Days passed by, and Hui Yue worried that Yu Bai might wander out of the small hut and be discovered by the Demon Clan, so she lied to him: "Little Blind One, stay here well, don't run around."

"Why?" Yu Bai asked, puzzled.

"Because there are monsters outside, they eat people. Seeing as you're so tender and juicy, you'd get gobbled up easily!" Hui Yue pretended to scare him theatrically.

Yu Bai laughed, nodded, and agreed, "Okay, okay, I'll listen to you."

Hui Yue nodded in satisfaction. This person who was fierce at first seemed to value life after all.

Yu Bai found this girl pretty mischievous and adorable, always teasing him.

He was originally a cold person who didn't like to laugh because his father had always taught him that only the strong don't cry or laugh. From then on, he became a solitary and cold ruler, hiding all his smiles and warmth, often standing at the top looking down on everything.

But during that battle, he lost, having his Divine Marrow forcibly extracted, he fell from a great height.

A once proud king, with no capital left for his pride, he was now a cripple! Not even as good as a mortal!

He suddenly realized that maybe he was never destined to be a king by nature, and that cold, solitary facade was useless to who he had become.

This girl who saved him liked to laugh a lot. Though she often joked nonsensically, she made him happy.

He had never met anyone like her before. In his cold environment growing up, everyone was cold and distant, no one as warm and cheerful as her.

A certain feeling began to quietly take root and grow.

One day, unexpectedly, Hui Yue came before Yu Bai, looking extremely wretched and with nowhere to go, she cried her troubles to him, the 'Little Blind One.'

"Little Blind One, have you ever been abandoned by someone?" Hui Yue sorrowfully asked, tears pouring from her eyes.

Yu Bai couldn't see where Hui Yue was, only determining her position from her voice. He furrowed his brows and asked worriedly, "What happened?"

Hui Yue sobbed, wiping her tears, choked up, "I knew someone. A few days ago he told me he liked me and wanted to marry me, but today I heard he was going to marry someone else. I couldn't believe my ears. When I went to find him, he humiliated me in front of everyone, saying I'm ugly, saying I have no family or background, I'm not worthy of him! And he told me to get lost..." As she spoke, a bitter heartache rose, fresh tears rolling down her face.

"He said he only liked me, he said he would marry me, why, why... did it turn out like this..." The more Hui Yue spoke, the sadder she became, sobbing uncontrollably.

Yu Bai, unable to see her, gently reached out by her voice, touched her face, feeling her wet cheeks, and wiped away her tears tenderly, comforting her, "Though I can't see, I know you're a good person. Those worldly people always chase outward appearances, family, and background. Though his eyes aren't blind, his heart is. Missing a good person like you, he will regret it one day."

Hui Yue felt warmed by his words, her tears subsided. Not confident, she asked in a low voice again, "Will he really regret it?"

"Truly, so don't cry, it's not worth it. Someone who truly likes you won't make you shed tears." Yu Bai consoled her.

He was never much of a talker, but to console the girl before him, he racked his brain and spoke uncharacteristic words, yet seeing Xiao Yue stop crying, he felt comforted in his heart.

Hui Yue blinked at Yu Bai in front of her, who was still foolishly helping wipe away her tears. She playfully said, "Thank you, Little Blind One, I don't feel as sad now."

"That's good." Yu Bai smiled warmly.

Hui Yue looked at him, thinking his face was bathed in a honey-like glow, beautiful beyond words.

Her heart inexplicably started pounding.

This person! So gentle and so handsome.
