Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Design Fee Is Expensive

Sienna Thornton visited Simon Forrester at "SY Architectural Design Firm" for the second time.

Officially, she needed to plead on behalf of her client. Privately, she wanted to discuss cooperation with Simon Forrester.

She was well-prepared, and was ready to be doubly rejected by Simon Forrester.

Sure enough, the first thing Simon Forrester said upon seeing her was, "If you're here to plead for that fraudster, this will be the last time you appear before me, Lawyer Thornton."

Sienna Thornton smiled knowingly, found a seat opposite him, and habitually tucked her shoulder-length black hair behind her ear.

She then leisurely said, "No, no, no, precisely because you're not settling, I have the opportunity to keep appearing before you. Not just me, but my client will also keep appearing before you."

At this point, she deliberately paused.

As expected, Simon Forrester's expression showed annoyance.

She seized the momentum to press further, "Once we enter judicial proceedings, you, as the plaintiff, will need to cooperate and testify in court. This way, you'll inevitably meet my client in court. How many times you'll meet, it's hard to say. If the proceedings drag on, there will be opportunities to meet for years to come… This not only wastes your time but also increases the risk of you meeting my client…"

Sienna Thornton stopped there.

Simon Forrester's face turned dark, and he placed his pen heavily on the desk, raising an eyebrow at the woman sitting in front of him with a faint smile on her lips.

Sienna Thornton was playing a psychological game with him; he could see that.

He was pragmatic. The previous counter-suit was just the simplest and most brutal way to deal with such disgusting slander.

He cared about his reputation but also pursued maximum interests.

The time spent in court could allow him to complete several more projects.

Moreover, he didn't want to see that lunatic who claimed to have a crush on him but used such despicable means to get his attention, in case she said something disgusting in court…

Thinking of this, Simon Forrester felt a discomfort in his stomach.

After a moment of consideration, he replied impatiently, "Alright, let's leave it at that for now. Go back and make it clear to your client that I will reserve my right to prosecute. If she does anything else to damage my reputation, I won't let it go so easily."

With that, he stood up, ready to see Sienna Thornton out before she could say anything.

Sienna Thornton understood his meaning, stood up quickly, and extended her hand, smiling as she said, "On behalf of my client, I thank you."

"No need for courtesy, take care on your way out."

Simon Forrester did not extend his hand, clearly not intending to shake hands with Sienna Thornton, and coldly issued an expulsion order. After finishing speaking, he neatly walked to the conference table, spread out a blueprint, and began to study it.

Seeing his indifferent and rude demeanor, Sienna Thornton hesitated for a few seconds, then again she smiled brightly.

She gracefully approached him, placed her clean and gentle fingertips lightly on the polished rosewood table, and smiled, "Director Forrester, I have a project here. Would you be interested in hearing about it?"

"Go ahead." Simon Forrester didn't look up, his tone straightforward.

"A friend and I are planning to build a guesthouse on the outskirts of South Bay, so we want your help with the main design of the guesthouse…"

"My design fee is very expensive."

"Hmm?"

Facing Simon Forrester's unexpected bluntness, Sienna Thornton was momentarily surprised.

The situation became awkward, but quickly, Sienna Thornton turned around and took out some documents from her briefcase, pushing them in front of Simon Forrester with both hands.

"We won't haggle over design fees with you, Director Forrester. Whatever fee you publicly charge, we can compensate you with a higher value in the form of shares. As long as the guesthouse is in continuous operation, you can receive a substantial profit dividend every year…"

Sienna Thornton was sincere, even presenting confidential business plans for the next three years, but Simon Forrester never lifted his head to look at her, let alone the materials she brought.

After a moment of silence, just as Sienna Thornton was about to repeat what she had said, Simon Forrester coldly replied, "I have a lot of projects recently, no time, nor interest in being involved in your guesthouse design."

"I'm not in a hurry, I can wait until you have time…"

"Then you wait."

"..."

Simon Forrester's stance was obvious, but Sienna Thornton had seen all kinds of situations.

She wanted to continue negotiating, but her assistant, who had stepped out to take a call, rushed over and whispered urgently in her ear, "Lawyer Thornton, bad news! Maeve said Laura has been vomiting since this morning!"

"What?"

Sienna Thornton's face turned pale instantly, and she quickly began gathering her things to leave, no longer caring about her ongoing conversation with Simon Forrester.

As she packed up, she apologized to Simon Forrester, "Sorry, Director Forrester, we'll end our discussion here for today. My daughter is sick, and I have to rush to the hospital. Regarding the project I mentioned earlier, can we schedule a detailed discussion at this time three days from now?"
