Chapter 174. The Old Infernity "Hand-Rip" Infinite Loop with Trishula! The Frenzied Storytelling Combo Leaves the Old Guard Stunned!

Duelists across all the different worlds took a deep breath.

They still couldn't believe what they'd just seen.

Ten negates!

It looked fake.

A board with ten negates!

What was the opponent even supposed to do?

Unless their opening hand was godlike, there was no way they were breaking this Infernity board.

Wasn't that pure fantasy?

What shocked them even more was this:

it only used a single copy of Infernity Launcher to get there!

Not even three Launchers!

No wonder Infernity Launcher ended up Limited.

There was a reason for it!

Yugi Muto: "So this is Infernity's true power? As expected, the Higher World really is different from ours."

Jaden Yuki: "Tch… terrifying! I almost thought I misread it! It really is ten negates!"

Yuma Tsukumo: "Good grief! Compared to that earlier 'unscrewing' Infernity line… let's just say, without comparison there's no damage!"

Kalin Kessler: "Don't say it! I'm numb after seeing this! I can't even believe this is my own Infernity Deck!"

The group chat instantly erupted into a final wave of shouting and debate.

And the short video kept going.

Infernity Player: "Now that you've seen the ten-negate showcase, I believe all you duelists have a basic grasp of the Infernity engine and the roles of the supporting cards."

Infernity Player: "So let's move on to today's main topic: the tutorial for the infinite Trishula loop!"

"In advance: the Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier used here is with its pre-errata effect."

"Simply put, it didn't have a 'once per turn' usage limit."

"After it was put on the list, its effect text was changed to add a restriction."

"In other words, this combo is very hard to perform now."

"So why still cover it? Because it's a classic."

"You could say: once you understand this infinite Trishula loop, you've grasped the key knowledge of resource usage and recycling in Yu-Gi-Oh! dueling."

Key knowledge?

That made the still-student duelists like Yuma Tsukumo and Jaden Yuki perk up.

They considered themselves capable of understanding Yu-Gi-Oh!'s basics.

Setting aside a few hard bits, they could usually figure out each card's combo lines and roles.

But after hearing the uploader say this, they couldn't help thinking one thing.

This "Infernity infinite Trishula" was going to be another explosion of storytelling and crazy lines!

Infernity Player: "Let's start the demonstration."

Infernity Player: "First we Normal Summon Infernity Mirage."

Infernity Player: "Activate the Spell The Cheerful Coffin, discarding all three monsters in my hand to the Graveyard."

"Hand is now 0 cards—combo start."

"Activate Infernity Mirage's effect: Tribute itself to Special Summon Infernity Necromancer and Infernity Avenger from the GY."

"Infernity Necromancer triggers; we revive Infernity Archfiend from the GY."

"Infernity Archfiend triggers; we add Infernity Launcher from the Deck to hand."

"Activate Infernity Launcher. Tune Level 3 Infernity Necromancer + Level 4 Infernity Archfiend + Level 1 Tuner Infernity Avenger."

"3 + 4 + 1 = Level 8. Synchro Summon Hundred Eyes Dragon."

"Hundred Eyes Dragon effect: banish Infernity Mirage in the GY to copy its effect."

"Hundred Eyes Tributes itself to revive Infernity Necromancer and Infernity Archfiend from the GY."

"Archfiend triggers; we add a second Infernity Necromancer."

"Infernity Launcher effect: discard the Necromancer."

"Activate Launcher again: revive the second Infernity Necromancer and Infernity Avenger from the GY."

"Tune Level 1 Avenger + Level 4 Archfiend to Synchro Summon Underworld Fighter Balmung."

"Necromancer effect; revive Infernity Avenger."

"Tune Level 1 Avenger + Level 5 Underworld Fighter Balmung to Synchro Summon Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier."

"The other Necromancer revives Infernity Archfiend from the GY."

"Archfiend triggers; add a third Infernity Necromancer."

"Overlay the two Infernity Necromancer on the field."

"Overlay! Rank 3—Leviair the Sea Dragon."

"Leviair detaches Necromancer; Special Summon the banished Infernity Mirage."

"Activate Brionac; discard the third Infernity Necromancer to bounce Infernity Archfiend."

"Activate Brionac again; discard Infernity Archfiend to bounce Leviair."

"Infernity Mirage effect; Tribute itself to Special Summon two Infernity Necromancer from the GY."

"First Necromancer revives Infernity Avenger from the GY."

"Second Necromancer revives Infernity Archfiend from the GY."

"Archfiend triggers; we can fetch any Trap we like and Set it."

"Necromancer + Archfiend + Avenger: Synchro the second Hundred Eyes Dragon."

"Hundred Eyes banishes Infernity Mirage in the GY to copy its effect."

"Hundred Eyes Tributes itself to revive two Infernity Necromancer."

"At this point, the prep for the infinite Trishula is fully set."

"On field: three Infernity Necromancer, one Brionac, and one Set back row."

"In the GY: two Hundred Eyes Dragon, one Infernity Archfiend, and one Infernity Avenger."

"In the banished zone: Infernity Mirage."

…Huh?

What?

This was only the pre-combo storytelling setup?

No way.

Are you serious?

This was just the first third—the first step?

Duelists from every world listened to the narration in a daze, their brains numb.

When they heard this was only the preparation stage, the old-guard duelists felt thunderstruck.

It was still just the prep?

After all that?

Still only prep?!

In the DM world, Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba, Joey Wheeler, Maximillion Pegasus and the others slowly exhaled.

They stared blankly at the setup narrated in the short video, at a loss.

At the same time, they felt secretly relieved.

Thankfully, the earlier lines had taught them how the Infernity engine worked.

With that in mind—and ignoring the speed of the steps—they could still follow the storytelling of the whole process.

In the GX world, the Duel Academy students and faculty were equally shocked that this was only the setup, their scalps tingling.

Jaden Yuki and Jesse Anderson had already launched into a deep discussion about the narrated prep stage.

It was precisely because of that discussion that they realized what was most terrifying about the Infernity engine.

It was the synergy between in-archetype search and revival, while off-archetype cards provided the recycling.

Yes—especially the revival.

One Infernity Necromancer is already scary.

With two, things start getting weird.

With three, it's broken.

Right now, this infinite Trishula seems to use three Infernity Necromancer.

But here's the problem.

What comes next?

The short video quickly gave the answer.

Infernity Player: "Next, we branch into two combos."

Infernity Player: "It's the combination of these two that creates the infinite Trishula loop."

Infernity Player: "The first combo is the Trishula line."

"Now I'll demonstrate."

"First Infernity Necromancer revives Infernity Archfiend from the GY."

"Archfiend adds the Level 2 Tuner Infernity Beetle."

"The two Infernity Necromancer that have used their effects build the Xyz network again."

"Overlay! Leviair the Sea Dragon returns."

"Leviair detaches to Special Summon the banished Infernity Mirage."

"Brionac discards Infernity Beetle to bounce Leviair back to the Extra Deck."

"The third Necromancer revives the just-discarded Infernity Beetle."

"Infernity Beetle + Necromancer + Archfiend."

"2 + 3 + 4 = Level 9."

"Synchro Summon! Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier."

"At this point, the first step of the Trishula line is complete."

"Trishula's effect banishes a card from the opponent's hand."

"Since we're going first, the field and GY banishes don't matter."

"Next, use Infernity Mirage again: Tribute to revive two Infernity Necromancer from the GY."

"First Necromancer revives Infernity Archfiend."

"Archfiend adds any card—no restrictions."

"Brionac discards that card to bounce Trishula back to the Extra Deck."

"Second Necromancer revives Infernity Avenger."

"Necromancer + Archfiend + Avenger: Synchro Summon the third Hundred Eyes Dragon."

"Hundred Eyes banishes Infernity Mirage in the GY to copy its effect."

"Hundred Eyes Tributes itself to revive two Infernity Necromancer."

"And with that, the Trishula combo is complete."

"On field: three Infernity Necromancer, Brionac, and one Set card."

"In the GY: three Hundred Eyes Dragon, one Infernity Archfiend, one Infernity Beetle, and one Infernity Avenger."

"In the banished zone: Infernity Mirage."

"Compared to earlier, we've added one Hundred Eyes Dragon and one Infernity Beetle."

"From here on out, whatever Infernity Archfiend searches doesn't matter."

"It's just discard fodder to pay Brionac's cost."

"Now we begin the recycling combo—our second combo."

Not done yet?

Even after making Trishula—the storytelling line still wasn't over?

Duelists in every world felt their brains about to explode.

How could the Infernity engine be this absurd?

Cards in the engine could enable this many looped combo lines!

The key was: after carefully digesting it, they could actually follow along.

Yes—much of this storytelling explosion was repetitive procedures.

There wasn't any extra difficulty or hard-to-grasp trick.

On the contrary, because so many steps were repeated, the old guard felt their pig-brains overheating.

With so many repeated steps, you really needed reps; otherwise the misplay rate would be high.

In the 5D's world, Kalin Kessler sucked in a cold breath and started carefully savoring the Trishula line.

The more he mulled it over, the more he realized his understanding of the Infernity engine was lacking.

If it were him, he'd never think to use Hundred Eyes Dragon to copy Infernity Mirage just to revive two Infernity Necromancer.

After all, a 3000 ATK Hundred Eyes Dragon is intimidating.

More importantly, just like that famous "unscrewing" scene, if it's destroyed it can add an Earthbound Immortal from the Deck.

Isn't that more satisfying than burning the copied Mirage effect?

But now, after seeing this, Kalin understood.

Infernity had been shackled by the narrowness of his dueling mindset.

If you could open your mind, your understanding of Infernity would rise to the next level.

Infernity Player: "Now for the second combo."

Infernity Player: "We continue from the current field to build."

Infernity Player: "First Infernity Necromancer revives Infernity Archfiend."

"Archfiend adds a second Infernity Archfiend."

"The two Infernity Necromancer that already used their effects overlay again—Leviair the Sea Dragon returns."

"Leviair Special Summons the banished Infernity Mirage."

"Then Brionac discards the Infernity Archfiend in hand to bounce Leviair."

"The third Necromancer revives the Infernity Archfiend that was just discarded."

"Infernity Archfiend does not activate.

Overlay the two Infernity Archfiend to Xyz Summon the key recycler."

"Rank 4—Daigusto Emeral."

"Daigusto Emeral effect: return two Hundred Eyes Dragon and the second Infernity Archfiend from the GY to the Deck."

"Daigusto Emeral then lets us draw 1 card."

"Activate Brionac; discard the drawn card."

"Bounce the third Necromancer on our field back to hand to clear a zone."

"Activate Brionac again—discard the Necromancer in hand to bounce Daigusto Emeral."

"Infernity Mirage effect: Tribute itself to Special Summon two Infernity Necromancer."

"First Necromancer revives Infernity Avenger."

"Second Necromancer revives Infernity Archfiend."

"Do not use Archfiend's effect."

"Necromancer + Archfiend + Avenger: Synchro Summon Hundred Eyes Dragon."

"Hundred Eyes banishes Infernity Mirage in the GY to copy its effect, then Tributes itself to revive the two Infernity Necromancer."

"And with that, the recycling combo is complete."

"Take a look—doesn't this field look familiar?"

As the narration wrapped the second combo, the uploader posed a question.

All the duelists from every world carefully examined the position now on screen.

After they looked it over, they froze for a moment, and then their mental guard shattered.

Yes.

One by one, their eyes filled with shock; many rubbed their eyes, doubting what they were seeing.

Even Kalin Kessler was stunned.

Because this field was exactly the same as the earlier prep position.

On field: three Infernity Necromancer, one Brionac, and one Set back row.

In the GY: two Hundred Eyes Dragon, one Infernity Archfiend, and one Infernity Avenger.

And the extra Infernity Beetle was precisely for the upcoming Trishula line.

In the banished zone: still Infernity Mirage.

It was completely identical to the prep position—

the only difference was the added Infernity Beetle.

If not for the uploader's final reminder, they might have thought the video had restarted.

"Whoa! You've got to be kidding! It actually rebuilt the board back to the prep position?"

"Wait! I just realized something horrifying! After finishing this recycle combo… doesn't that mean it's Trishula time again?"

"Infinite loop! It's really an infinite Trishula loop! Finish recycle, do Trishula. Then recycle again, Trishula again! It's unbeatable!"

"Holy— it is! Which genius in the Higher World came up with this synergy? This is absurd!"

"In other words, hit it five times and the opponent's entire hand is banished! A pseudo-FTK!"

Very quickly, the old-guard duelists in the chat finally understood what the so-called infinite Infernity Trishula really was.

One recycle combo rewound all resources, setting up the Trishula line.

After Trishula resolved, run the recycle combo again.

And so the loop continued.

Among the monsters involved, the old guard finally identified the most important one.

Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier.
