Chapter 126. The Wicked God and Ra's Egg Cross Paths! Accesscode Talker Plays It Safe and Misses Lethal!
In the short video.
Ignoring his teammate's attempts to stop him, Player C (Red) still activated the Field Spell's effect.
Next came the standard, formulaic @Ignister setup.
Player C (Red): "My Field Spell lets me Special Summon Achichi @Ignister and trigger its effect."
Player C (Red): "I can add 1 Level 4 or lower '@Ignister' monster, except Achichi @Ignister, from my Deck to my hand."
Player B (Blue): "Activate Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon's effect! Chain Link 2—negate your Achichi!"
Player C (Red): "Chain Link 3—activate Forbidden Droplet from my hand. I send 1 card to the Graveyard; your Crystal Wing's effect is negated and its ATK is halved."
Player C (Red): "After resolution, I add Hiyari @Ignister from my Deck."
Forbidden Droplet as well?
Seeing that, Duelists across the worlds suddenly understood.
No wonder!
No wonder he dared to stare down Soul of the Supreme King Dragon yet still used the Field Spell to Special Summon Achichi!
Turns out he was holding a Quick-Play Spell that could push through interruptions!
So the ensuing sequence—
No question!
It was time for @Ignister's archetypal big boss to explode onto the field with a Link-6 Summon!
Player C (Red): "Achichi and Dark Infant @Ignister—Link Summon Cyberse Wicckid!"
Player C (Red): "Field Spell effect—Special Summon Doyon @Ignister from my hand."
Player C (Red): "Cyberse Wicckid effect—banish Dark Infant from the Graveyard; add Bururu @Ignister from my Deck!"
"Doyon's effect—add Pikari @Ignister from the Graveyard to my hand!"
"I Link Summon Transcode Talker using Wicckid and Doyon!"
"Doyon effect—add A.I. Meet You from the Graveyard!"
"Ignister A.I.Land effect—Special Summon Hiyari @Ignister, then send Bururu @Ignister from my Deck to the Graveyard!"
"Transcode Talker's effect resolves..."
The familiar, boilerplate @Ignister operations!
Skipping the lengthy extender steps—
The field once again assembled 6 monsters with all different Attributes as Link materials!
WATER: Hiyari @Ignister.
LIGHT: Pikari @Ignister.
DARK: Dark Templar @Ignister.
FIRE: Achichi @Ignister.
WIND: Bururu @Ignister.
EARTH (after Dark Infant's Attribute change): Dark Infant @Ignister.
Water, Light, Dark, Fire, Wind, Earth!
Check the Link arrows again—confirmed!
The 6000-ATK, nigh-untouchable The Arrival Cyberse @Ignister appeared once more before Duelists across the worlds!
And in that moment—
Even though this was the third time the old guard had seen that Link-6—
They still showed surprise and excitement!
But—
It faded quickly.
"The Arrival, unaffected? Invincible?"
They still remembered exactly how it got answered before!
A Numeron power push.
A "turtle chug"—one-turn gulp.
Who knew what weird out would pop up this time!
So no one dared to swear that this boss could truly decide the duel!
In the short video, the out begins!
Player C (Red): "Activate The Arrival's effect—I destroy your Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"
Player C (Red): "Then I Summon 1 Token!"
"I enter the Battle Phase!"
"The 6000-ATK Arrival—battle over your Crystal Wing, whose ATK was halved to 1500 by Forbidden Droplet!"
"You lose 4500 Life Points!"
"My turn ends!"
"A.I. Meet You burns me for 2300!"
Player D (Blue): "Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!"
Player D (Blue): "Finally, my turn! Draw!"
"Activate Called by the Grave! Banish your Bururu @Ignister!"
"Activate the Field Spell Floowandereeze and the Magnificent Map!"
"I reveal Floowandereeze & Toccan in my hand!"
"I banish Floowandereeze & Robina from my Deck to Effect Normal Summon the revealed Toccan!"
"Toccan's effect—add the banished Robina back to hand, then Effect Normal Summon Floowandereeze & Eglen!"
"Eglen's effect—add Floowandereeze & Empen from my Deck; then I Effect Normal Summon Robina!"
"Robina's effect—add Lyrilusc – Turquoise Warbler!"
"I Tribute the on-field Toccan, Eglen, and Robina!"
"You think I'm making Empen?"
"No, no, no!"
"I'm going to Summon—this card!"
"Hey there! The blackened bird-egg!"
"After the God—death descends!"
"The Wicked Avatar!!!"
Player A: "???"
Player B (Blue): "???"
Player C (Red): "???"
With that shadowed "egg" dropping onto the field—
The three Floowandereeze monsters became tributes for the Wicked God!
Not just the opponents—even his teammate stared blankly at this Tribute Summon!
"What is that?"
"What card is that?"
"Huh?"
"Wicked God?"
"There are 'Wicked God' cards too?"
Duelists across the worlds were just as stupefied after watching that line!
In the Duel Monsters world—
Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba, and Maximillion Pegasus exchanged shocked looks!
They could hardly believe what kind of monster they were looking at!
Or rather—for them at this point in time—
This was a card they'd never seen before!
Mai Valentine's mind jumped to her duel memories with Marik.
Back then, that egg—wasn't it not black?
Wait—
Isn't that card Ra's egg?
"What is going on? What card is that, exactly?"
"A wicked-god egg?"
"There's a card like that?"
Marik, off to the side, was dumbfounded.
Never in his life did he expect such a bizarre card to show up afterward!
In the GX world—
Jaden Yuki, Professor Crowler, Chancellor Sheppard, and Zane Truesdale all froze!
"Wicked-god egg, 'Avatar of the Gods'?"
"Whoa! The God went edgy! We're done! Is that a blackened version of The Winged Dragon of Ra's egg?"
"Goosebumps! I've seen it all now! There's even a blackened Ra egg!"
"But it feels weaker than a God, right? Like half as strong?"
"No clue, no clue—but I feel like Duel Academy needs a new 'Wicked God Dorm'!"
Amid the chatter, students and faculty all stared at the effect text of that Wicked-god "divine embodiment"!
Because originally that question-mark-ATK Wicked God now showed 6100 ATK!
Of all things—just 100 higher than the @Ignister boss!
Player D (Blue): "Who's the real king of fists?"
Player D (Blue): "Utopia Double? Evolzar Laggia?"
Player D (Blue): "Muda, muda, muda!"
"It's my Wicked God!"
"This card has 2 effects!"
"First—when this card is successfully Normal Summoned, it triggers automatically: for the next 2 of your turns, you can't activate Spell/Trap Cards."
"Second—this card's ATK and DEF become the highest ATK among other monsters on the field +100."
"So—I enter the Battle Phase!"
"My Wicked Avatar destroys your Link-6!"
"You lose 100 Life Points!"
"Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon destroys your Token!"
"Starving Venom Predapower Fusion Dragon—3600 direct attack!"
"My turn is over!"
By the end of that turn—
Blue Side's Life Points were down to 2750!
Red Side still had 10,000 LP!
At a glance—
It still looked like Red Side had the advantage; the Life Point gap was huge!
Blue Side's 2750 was a candle in the wind!
There was barely any room to make a mistake!
Even with 3 monsters on board, and none of them small in ATK—
Things could still go wrong!
In the short video—
Turn passes to Player A (Red).
Player A (Red): "My turn! Draw!"
Player A (Red): "Honestly, that black egg doesn't look very authentic!"
Player A (Red): "Let me give you a color-swap."
"Trust me—you'll love it!"
Color-swap?
What does that mean?
Wait.
Could it be…?
He's going to dye that black dragon egg gold!
Almost at the same moment—before they even recovered from the Wicked God shock—the old-guard protagonists immediately thought of one card!
The real "kami" egg!
Player A (Red): "I Tribute your 3 monsters!"
Player A (Red): "The Wicked Avatar, Starving Venom Predapower Fusion Dragon, Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon—become nourishment!"
"Then I give you this 'kami'!"
"Come forth—The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode!!!"
Holy—!
Just as expected!
It was the true "kami" egg!
Ra's Sphere Mode!
Yugi Muto: "Holy—! Sphere Mode! It's here! It came out that fast?!"
Marik Ishtar: "Kimochi! The Wicked God becomes feed for Ra after all! Interesting! So interesting!"
Jaden Yuki: "Nngh! What kind of god-tier slugfest is this? A Wicked God one turn, an Egyptian God the next—this duel is giving me full-body tingles!"
Professor Crowler: "Mamma mia! So does that mean his Deck also runs The Winged Dragon of Ra? No way, right?"
The chat exploded instantly!
Everyone was dumbstruck by the "color-swap" play into Sphere Mode!
The discussion quickly spiraled to whether The Winged Dragon of Ra itself was in his list!
If so—
Who could predict what would happen next!
Back to the video!
After Summoning Ra's egg—
There wasn't much more he could do with the board.
Player A (Red): "How is it? Happy now? If you have Ra, you're rich!"
Player A (Red): "But I'm guessing you definitely don't! I end my turn."
Player B (Blue): "Oh? Okay, okay! So that's how we're playing!"
Player B (Blue): "Draw 1, set 1!"
Player B (Blue): "I really don't have it, so my turn ends as well."
Player C (Red): "Since your turn ended, Sphere Mode's control returns to me..."
Player C (Red): "My turn! Draw!"
Player C (Red): "Nice! I drew Mathmech Diameter! Prepare for my wrath!"
"I Normal Summon Mathmech Diameter and revive Mathmech Circular from the Graveyard!"
"Mathmech Sigma in the Graveyard—Special Summon itself!"
"Overlay Circular and Sigma to Xyz Summon Primathmech Alembertian!"
"Alembertian effect—detach 2 materials; add Mathmech Addition!"
"Use on-field Diameter and Alembertian to Link Summon Splash Mage!"
"Splash Mage's effect—revive Diameter from the Graveyard!"
"I use Sphere Mode, Splash Mage, and Diameter to Link Summon!"
"Link-4 declared!"
"!"
"Link Summon Accesscode Talker!"
"At the same time, Accesscode targets Splash Mage in my Graveyard—its ATK becomes 4300!"
By this turn—
The advantage had fully swung to Red Side!
Accesscode Talker at 4300 ATK dwarfed Blue Side's 2750 LP!
In other words—
A direct attack from Accesscode would win the duel!
But there was a problem.
The opponent still had 2 set back-row cards!
One of them had sat there since the original five-set opener and hadn't fired once.
The other had been set just last turn.
There was also the Floowandereeze Field Spell.
Seeing Player B (Blue)'s confident smile—
Player C (Red) fell silent.
Earlier Torrential Tribute and Solemn Strike were still fresh in his mind!
He debated—
Should he swing directly, or use Accesscode to blow up all the opponent's resources before attacking?
After all—
Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to Accesscode's effect activations.
So even if the back-row were interruptions—
They couldn't chain to Accesscode's destruction effects anyway.
But what if that long-set card was an "attack declaration" trap?
Mirror Force?
If Accesscode swung and ate that, it'd be over!
Right.
Better clear everything with Accesscode first!
Player C (Red): "Activate Accesscode's effect—banish Splash Mage to destroy your Field Spell! First pop!"
Player C (Red): "Activate Accesscode—banish The Arrival Cyberse @Ignister to destroy your left set! Second pop!"
Player C (Red): "Continue—banish Transcode Talker to destroy your last set! Third pop!"
"This—ends—it!"
Player B (Blue): "Oh? Heh-heh-heh."
Player B (Blue): "Sore wa dō kana?"
"The last card you destroyed—"
"Was the Trap Waking the Dragon!"
Seeing that card—
The two Red Duelists' faces went pale!
Shimatta!
It's over!
We shouldn't have popped it! We should've just attacked!
Once that card gets destroyed, the consequences are disastrous!
Player B (Blue): "Sorry, that card's effect triggers when the set card leaves the field because of your effect and is now in the Graveyard or banished."
Player B (Blue): "I can Special Summon 1 monster from my Deck or Extra Deck."
"So—come forth!"
"The triple-fused azure-light dragon!"
"Blue-Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon!!!"
Thanks to Waking the Dragon resolving successfully—
A 4500-ATK monster that cannot be targeted by, nor destroyed by, the opponent's card effects hit the field!
And that ATK was exactly 200 higher than Accesscode's!
It blocked what would have been the final, fatal blow!
Duelists across the worlds all turned to stone!
Yugi Muto, Jaden Yuki, and Yusei Fudo—protagonists across eras—were slack-jawed and speechless.
"What card? Waking the Dragon?"
"A Trap that reverses the logic like this?"
"The normal, correct line of popping 1 back-row—"
"Instead helped Waking the Dragon go off?"
"You can play like that?"
"What even is this?"
That broke them!
Red Side was mentally shattered!
That one Accesscode line—
Blew up the fruit of victory itself!
What should have been the end of the duel—
Turned into a misplay from a perfectly reasonable read!
In the Duel Monsters world—
"I'm stunned—this is a thing? You have to think backwards now?"
"Whew… If it were me, I'd definitely clear the back-row too! But that Waking the Dragon has me shaking!"
"What a name—maybe 'Stirring the Grass, Rousing the Snake' is more like it."
"Once bitten by a snake, you fear the rope for ten years—next time you see a set card, do you pop it or not?"
And in that instant—
Many old-guard Duelists felt a chill run down their spines!
High-tier dueling is too devious!
It's beyond the atmosphere!
It's all one giant web of calculations!
