Chapter 151Lily's POV
For some reason, my heart refused to move me forward.
I stood frozen in front of that cell, the tray heavy in my hands, the guard shifting impatiently beside me. At first, I told myself it was simple: she was the only woman I'd seen in the dungeon. Or maybe it was because she hadn't moved, hadn't even stirred when the guard shouted at her.
But something deeper gnawed at me. Something raw, primal, like a thread pulling tight inside my chest.
I couldn't let go.
"Make her answer, she has to eat. She looks like she hasn't eaten in days." I whispered, my voice barely audible.
"Do I look like I care if she eats or not?. The guard groaned. "You've got ten seconds, girl. Ten. And then we're moving on."
I swallowed hard, my throat dry as sand. Slowly, I stepped closer to the bars. My fingers trembled against the metal tray.
