Chapter 47
Lily's POV
The emergency room was in absolute chaos.
Shouting. Beeping. Blood. Panic.
The sharp, biting scent of antiseptic clung to everything, blending with sweat and sheer terror. My lungs refused to cooperate as I stood frozen in the corner, my back against the cold wall, watching the nightmare unfold.
Joe lay motionless on the bed, too pale, too still. His lips were turning blue, and his chest barely moved. If it weren't for the machines still attached to him, I would've thought he was already gone.
"No. Not yet. You can't die, Joe," I muttered. "Moon Goddess, please have mercy. Just this once. Please. Just this once"
Outside, Ivan's voice tore through the noise like a cannon blast.
"OPEN THIS DAMN DOOR!" he bellowed. His fists pounded on the glass with furious desperation. "Lily! You'll pay for this madness!"
Then he turned his rage onto the medical team. "If that boy dies, you all die with him! DO SOMETHING!"
