The central auditorium where the inauguration ceremony had been held on the first day, was now packed full again. But this time, along with all the students from the aura warrior classes, the one hundred mage students were also present.
The academy had two U-shaped structures constructed opposite to each other. One section was for the warriors, the aura users, and the other section was completely dedicated to the mages, the magic casters and researchers.
The mage academy only admitted a hundred students per year, compared to the four hundred of the warriors.
While the warriors had aura cores in their naval regions, the mages awakened to mana and cultivated the arcane core in their hearts.
The percentage of those who awaken to the arcane was miniscule compared to aura. Resulting in fewer number of mages and boosting their importance and demands further up.
All mages stayed quite aloof and thought themselves as nobility, limiting their interactions to the warriors to almost nothing. Especially the young ones. Except the mid terms and the finals, they never spare a glance to them, though they were just in the next building.
At the center stage on one end, the representative professors from the warrior classes as well as the mage class stood together as Zarnak was addressing the students below.
The students of each class stood in two rows, the girls and the boys, in their respective areas. The C class at the leftmost end while the mage class at the rightmost.
"What number did you get?" Aeron asked Grey, who was standing behind him in the line.
"54."
"I'm 27. What about you Blaze?" Aeron then turned towards Blaze, who was in front of him.
"I'm 39." Blaze said meekly.
"I just hope I don't get all those bullies in my team." Aeron said, his brows creased in worry.
"It's all luck. It's not like you can change teams even if you do get one with them in it." Grey said, shrugging his shoulders.
"You're not helping here man!" Aeron yelled at Grey frustratingly, in a low voice. Getting a chuckle from Grey in response.
Before gathering in the auditorium, the students were asked to pick a chit so as to get allotted to a number which will also be their team number.
The students from each class who share the same number will then form a team and take the test together.
"After the numbers are called, the ones from each class having that number will come up here. You will select a leader after discussion, and that leader will pick another chit from this box, which holds the mission you'll have to complete as the test." Zarnak explained, pointing at the cuboidal glass box beside him.
"Whatever mission you get, only the professors and your team should know of it. You are not to disclose it to anyone else. This is so as that no one can interfere in your test." Zarnak said sternly.
The students from the C and B class got tense, their nervousness rose. But the ones from the other two classes and the mage class were standing relaxed. There was not a single trace of anxiousness or worry on their faces.
Their professors had already explained to them about the missions they were to get, though it was a breach of rules, they did it anyway, since they were the privileged S and A class. Also, being from big families, some of them knew about the details and the happenings of the midterms already.
"Number 1!" Zarnak called out for the first team.
Five students moved out of their rows, one from each class. They walked up the stage and stood in a row.
"Discuss amongst yourselves and select a captain." Zarnak said.
The one from the S class and the mage didn't even look at the other three, ignoring them completely, the two of them started speaking to one another. The other three didn't protest at all, since they knew none of them were eligible to be the leader when someone from the S class is present.
After a few seconds, the S class warrior moved forward. The mage had given up the position since she was a B class in her year, and with an S class present, she didn't have the confidence to lead, even though he was a warrior.
Among the hundred students in the mage class, even they had distinctions of class. the top ten were claimed as S class mage, the next twenty A class, the following twenty B class and the rest fifty were C class.
So just like the warriors, the mages also suffered discrimination amongst themselves. But when the comparison came between the mages and the warriors, the mages always acted superior and wished to be respected, no matter you were C class or S class.
The warrior moved towards the box and pulled out a chit from it. After unfurling it he read the mission, showed it to Zarnak. He nodded at an assistant professor behind him, who then came forward with a pen and a notebook, jotting the mission against the team number on it.
The five of them then walked down and stood at the open space beside the stage.
Zarnak kept calling out one number after another, as teams came forward, selected their missions and walked down the stage.
Blaze and Aeron also got their teams. Aeron sighed in relief when he saw no bully from the S and A class in his team.
Everything was going smoothly when suddenly the students gasped in shock when they saw the 52nd team appear on the stage. They couldn't believe such a coincidence could happen.
The five members present on the stage were all the top entrants from each class. From the C class, Mor was there, along with Elena and the ace of mage class, Silvan Lightward.
Grey was taken aback when he saw Silvan on stage. He was the top entrant of the first year mage class and a genius Elf mage, also one of the main characters of the game.
