Chapter 91: The Demoness's Fighting Style

A gray-blue room, first floor.

The empty hall was devoid of any furniture, with only an altar placed in the very center of the room. The altar was covered with various mysterious patterns, and in its middle stood a statue made of white bone.

This statue was about one arm's length of an adult female, its features not finely detailed, only discernible as a beautiful woman. The statue's hair extended all the way to its ankles, the strands thick, like snakes or tentacles, with an eye growing at the end of each strand of hair, appearing dense, beautiful, and terrifying.

Around the statue, three candles burned, providing the only light source in the room.

At this moment, a woman with a round face and delicate features stood before the altar, chanting devoutly in a low voice. The warm candlelight illuminated her face, making her appear even somewhat sacred.

She was Triss, who had previously served Mrs. Sharon, the former Terrence.

Beyond the woman and the altar, the empty first floor was filled with a vast amount of resentment. Countless transparent figures wandered within it, their faces showing expressions of pain and hatred, male and female, large and small. They surrounded the central altar, screaming shrilly, cursing the woman within with the most venomous expressions, yet unable to approach the candlelight-illuminated altar, only trapped outside, unable to get close.

The beautiful Triss completely ignored the curses of the numerous specters; she calmly performed the ritual.

As she chanted, a faint glow emanated from the surface of the bone statue, this glow lingered on the statue, as if the snake-like hair with eyes had come alive, slowly wriggling.

"Whoosh—"

The wind howled, and with this glow, the statue produced a powerful suction. The invisible transparent figures were drawn to the statue, irresistibly pulled into it. Strong winds immediately raged in the room; the statue seemed like the center of a storm, sucking in all the invisible figures in the room, followed by waves of extremely shrill screams.

The glow on the statue's surface disappeared, and fresh red liquid seeped out, flowing down the snake-like hair.

Triss took out a bottle and solemnly collected the liquid, ultimately gathering only about half a bottle.

After collecting the liquid, she seemed to breathe a slight sigh of relief. Just then, a crude silver mirror placed beside her hand suddenly changed; streaks of crisscrossing blood seeped onto its surface.

Triss frowned at the mirror, her expression turning grim.

She first devoutly saluted the statue, ending the ritual, picked up the small bottle containing the red liquid, and hid it in her bosom. Then she quickly stood up, pulled up her hood, and drew a gleaming dagger from her clothes.

After completing the simple preparations, Triss immediately transformed from a pretty woman into a dangerous Assassin. She wiped her hand across her face, blurring her features, and then sprinkled a pinch of shimmering fluorescent powder from her head, accompanied by a softly chanted incantation, her figure completely vanished, concealed invisibly.

The invisible Assassin gripped her dagger and silently moved to the window, intending to deliver an unexpected attack to the intruder.

Through the window, Triss saw a handsome man in a black overcoat climbing over the wall, carefully approaching the house with a revolver. His emerald eyes shone brightly in the dim moonlight.

Triss slipped out of the open window, her body as light as a feather, landing without a sound. As soon as she landed, she swiftly rushed to the intruder, grasping her dagger with both hands to gather strength.

As if to throw herself into his embrace, Triss pressed close to the man, plunging her dagger in with full force.

"Crack!"

Confusingly, she felt no sensation of piercing flesh; instead, she heard a crisp sound like shattering glass.

— — — —

Rewind a few tens of seconds, outside the house.

"Don't go in yet, let me try to pull the person inside into a dream."

In front of the dilapidated garden, Dunn whispered to the two.

After both of them stopped, he pressed his brows, bent over, and closed his eyes. Invisible fluctuations emanated from his body, and his overcoat billowed continuously. A tranquil and serene power suddenly descended, quietly passing through the walls and entering the house.

In front of the altar, the round-faced woman, who was preparing to counterattack, immediately closed her eyes and fell into a dream. In her dream, she had already prepared her counterattack methods, but in reality, she merely stood still, doing nothing.

Captain is truly strong.

Lu Ze watched Dunn's actions, sincerely praising him in his heart. He had also seen the 'Dream Invasion' of a Sequence 6 Soul Assurer, but for some reason, in this ability, he always felt that Dunn was no worse than someone of a higher Sequence.

As Dunn's ability activated, by the first-floor window, invisible fluctuations surged, and the figure of a hooded woman abruptly appeared. Her eyes were closed, and she stood still, as if she had fallen into a dream.

It's the Demoness!

She had already reached the window!

Lu Ze was slightly startled but dared not speak. He emulated Leonard, drew his revolver, and aimed at the woman by the window.

"Crack!"

A crisp sound, like shattering glass, rang out. Dunn's dream shattered, and Triss slowly opened her eyes. Seeing the several people who had appeared out of nowhere, a trace of bewilderment appeared on her beautiful face, her small mouth slightly agape, making her look very pitiful and endearing.

But Lu Ze and Leonard both pulled their triggers without hesitation.

"Bang! Bang!"

Their demon-hunting bullets were fired one after another, striking Triss's head and chest. With a crisp sound, her figure flattened, ultimately transforming into a shattered silver mirror, while her own figure disappeared again.

At the same time, Dunn also opened his eyes. He immediately drew his revolver and quickly rushed towards the mansion.

"Follow me!"

Leonard shouted to Lu Ze.

Lu Ze followed closely, the third to rush into the first-floor hall.

He saw the lingering resentment of the deceased in the room, and several wandering figures of the dead. The woman stood before an altar, picking up something wrapped in white cloth. Because it was already wrapped, he did not see what it was. But the moment he saw that thing, his ears twitched, and he once again heard the faint, alluring whispers of a female.

Is the sound coming from this thing?

Lu Ze thought.

Triss looked at the three intruders, smiled slightly, and her figure disappeared again.

"Bang! Bang!"

Leonard's bullets struck the ground where she had just been, sparking on the floor. Seeing that Triss was no longer there, Leonard's eyes quickly searched the room, while simultaneously chanting a calming poem.

"Whoosh—"

Just then, a cold wind seemed to howl through the room, and several transparent figures that had been wandering in the room instantly became incredibly chilling, shrieking as they lunged at the group.
