Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: Consuming the Listener Potion

Chapter 80: Consuming the Listener Potion

The man, despairing of life, leapt from the second floor, his head hitting the hard ground, dying on the spot.

Aside from providing Lu Ze with fresh potion ingredients, his death's greatest impact was to give the bar's drunkards some post-drink conversation. As for the woman he had yearned for, she quickly forgot him and turned to the embrace of other men.

After Lu Ze bought the ingredients and collected the grievances with the small black bottle Ms. M had given him, he returned to Blackthorn Security Company.

Pushing open the Door, he saw Leonard and Klein sitting on the sofa in the hall, a large bag of documents spread on the table, and they were looking at a few of them.

"You just came back from a small town and you're already back to work. How dedicated."

Lu Ze said.

Hearing him say this, Klein subconsciously touched his pocket—it held the Sun Charm he had just made in the town.

Lu Ze didn't notice the other's subtle expression; instead, he walked to the table and picked up a document to examine.

This was a death report from the police station—a man from Lower Street had died suddenly from an illness while working. According to his family, he had a similar illness before.

"Isn't this just a normal death?"

He asked, puzzled.

"It is indeed a normal death, but the problem is there are too many." Leonard replied, pointing to the large pile of documents next to him, "The number of recent deaths has suddenly increased, far exceeding the same period, and the police department contacted us to investigate."

Lu Ze flipped through the documents, and sure enough, they were all kinds of death reports, including the case of Viscount Dorset.

"Speaking of which, I encountered one today as well."

Lu Ze said thoughtfully, recounting what he had seen at the bar earlier.

"Then I'll record this matter too."

Leonard said.

For the rest of the time, they were all poring over and analyzing these numerous death cases, but they didn't find anything special.

"Let's go to the scene tomorrow." As closing time approached, Leonard rubbed the corners of his eyes and said, "Perhaps we can find other clues at the scene."

"You two have worked hard."

Lu Ze said. He had to go home on time to prepare for his advancement.

"Lu Ze, don't forget, you're on duty at Charnes Gate tomorrow night."

Leonard called out behind him.

Opening the Door at Narcissus Street 6, Ms. M was waiting for him on the sofa. Cecilia was preparing her homework at the table, looking distracted. Seeing Lu Ze enter, she stood up.

"You're very cooperative; all the auxiliary materials are ready." Ms. M said with a smile. Through the eye she had left on Lu Ze, she had seen all of Lu Ze's experiences today.

Lu Ze didn't answer her. He put his hand on his sister's shoulder, pressed her back into her seat, then took out the auxiliary materials and placed them on the table.

"You don't need to be so wary of me," Ms. M said, "As long as you cooperate with me, I am very willing to help you. For example, with the large number of death cases today, your investigation direction is wrong."

"Was it you who did it?"

Lu Ze suddenly looked up and asked.

Did she intentionally kill so many people to provide potion ingredients?

"Of course it wasn't me."

Ms. M smiled, "As soon as I arrived in Tingen, I came to your house. Besides, if it were me, I wouldn't do it so foolishly."

Lu Ze stopped questioning upon hearing this. In such matters, Ms. M seemed to have no need to lie to him.

"Alright, since everything is ready, let's begin." Ms. M rose from the sofa and said to Lu Ze, "Clean the iron pot at home and bring it over."

It had finally come to this.

Lu Ze took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, then turned and went into the kitchen. Following Ms. M's instructions, he scrubbed the iron pot sparkling clean, then, carrying the ingredients, followed Ms. M to the bedroom on the second floor.

Cecilia remained in the living room on the first floor, watching him worriedly. He smiled at his sister and closed the Door.

Consuming the potion was now unavoidable, but Lu Ze still held a glimmer of hope—because he still had a cheat in his body.

That illusory tide had repeatedly blocked the mental erosion of various evil gods for Lu Ze. If not for it, Lu Ze would have collapsed and lost control long ago.

Initially, Lu Ze had considered forcibly taking the potion and relying on the cheat to resist the True Creator's ravings. However, this kind of thing couldn't be tested beforehand; if the cheat couldn't hold on halfway, he would be finished. So, he thought it was better to use a safer method first.

But the current situation no longer allowed him to choose. Lu Ze could only hope that the tide was effective enough to block all of the True Creator's ravings.

"Let's begin."

After Ms. M entered the room, she turned and said to Lu Ze, "Be careful; after all, you are the one who will drink the potion."

Lu Ze set down the iron pot, arranged the ingredients, calmed his mind, and began to make the potion.

Following Ms. M's instructions, he poured 70 milliliters of distilled water into the pot, then sprinkled in 8 grams of wolf's blood grass powder, and dripped in 2 drops of viper venom.

When the herbal powder was poured into the water, it was just a lump and didn't dissolve. But after the venom was dripped in, the colorless liquid quickly dissolved the powder, turning the liquid in the pot a deep green color.

Lu Ze cautiously picked up the main ingredient of the potion. The moment he touched it, rustling sounds echoed in his ears, making him agitated and unable to concentrate.

"Thump."

The black ear was thrown into the water and immediately began to dissolve, turning into a black liquid.

"Gurgle gurgle."

The water surface began to boil incessantly, and the rising bubbles constantly burst, like countless mouths opening to shout, appearing bizarre and terrifying.

This is truly evil.

Lu Ze cursed under his breath, picked up the last ingredient on the table, which was the deceased's grievances contained in the small black bottle, and poured it into the potion.

Opening the bottle, a wisp of translucent gas floated out, filled with extreme emotions of hatred and resentment.

The gas was originally floating upwards, but suddenly, as if attracted by the potion, it turned downwards and was forced into the potion. The open mouths sucked in the grievances, submerging contentedly, and the potion began to calm down, eventually turning a dull, iron-gray color.

"Congratulations, it should be successful."

Ms. M smiled.

Lu Ze glanced at her, used a ladle to scoop up the liquid, and poured it into a cup. The liquids were connected to each other, with no residue left in the pot.

He picked up the cup and looked at its contents. He couldn't help but feel some hesitation and fear.

"Lu Ze, what are you waiting for?"

Ms. M asked with a smile, her slender, beautiful fingers seemingly moving unconsciously. If she wished, a snap of her fingers, and Cecilia downstairs would explode.

Damn it!

Lu Ze gritted his teeth, tilted his head back, and drank the potion.

The cold and stinging liquid surged down his throat into his stomach, quickly spreading throughout his body. Soon, he felt cold all over.

This coldness made his consciousness increasingly clear, allowing him to perceive all his body's sensations with precision: sight, smell, hearing...

Yes, his ears suddenly became incredibly sensitive, even far more sensitive than all his other senses.

Stopped
