Chapter 23 - Rabbit's foot part 1

As Theo's footsteps faded down the hall.

Mattias sat there staring at the roof

"…what a hassle," he muttered.

His stomach growled loudly as he zoned out.

"Wow that was really loud," he told it.

He pushed himself up again and stood for a few moments testing his balance. He tilted just a little but settled quick.

"Okay," Mattias said to no one. "I need to see how this thing works my body seems completely normal."

Getting dressed up finally out of the robe he stepped out into the hallway.

The place was bigger than he expected. Stone walls lined with faint carvings and not a single crack. Putting his hand on the well he walked tressing his fingers on the smooth lines

That did not help his growing nerves.

He followed the smell of food, which led him down stairs to a dining room.

Walking in he saw Levin seated at on of the chair

"For someone who asks to have questions answered you suck at managing your own time," He said as he drunk something.

"…Yeah," Mattias replied scratching the back of his head . "Sorry for that."

Levin didn't even stared at him but continued to take another sip of his drink

Mattias just standing there couldn't help but eye the drink with hungry eye giving it glances as he tried acting normal

"So I wanted to ask you abo..." Because he could finish Theo came from behind and entered the room staring at both Levin and Mattias "what are you to doing"

"It's nothing I just wanted to ask him some stuff," Mattias said noticing Theo's clothes

"Wait is it about that weird effect your body makes," Theo' eyes were curious. "I wanted to ask you about it but you were out cold so wha-"

As Theo was about to continue he felt Levin is gaze and turned to see him looking at him "Instead of talking here Theo shouldn't you be at school"

Theo stopped himself, grabbing a piece of toasted bread and running out tge door grabbing his bag from the sofa.

Mattias stared at him go and turned to Levin in confusion "There are schools here? I get that you have a barrier over this place but isn't it still dangerous what if it fails"

Levin raised and eyebrow. "So what would have everyone do stay bunkered up."

He hesitated. "…thats not what I meant"

Levin watched him as he took a sip "I understand your perspective on it and its a smart one but you still don't know alot a barrier can be a shield and cage"

"with that said we should get started you have alot of questions or did you change your mind," he said, without looking at Mattias.

Mattias walked forward immediately and slowly pulled a chair out to sit on it.

As Mattias sat down his stomach growled making him confused and embarrassed

"So sorry for that it happened earlier too"

Levin looked at him like he just said some nonsense "your saying before today you didn't feel hungry"

Mattias nearly choked. "No No no I did fell hungry before this weird this made my body like this so it's just been a while"

Levin folded his arms. "Yes this mysterious thing that even made Elizabeth terrified."

Mattias straightened despite himself.

"Yes," he said. "I don't know what it is I was hoping you could help me with it as well."

Levin's eyes lazily moved around "Is that really it that all you wanted to ask".

"Actually no well its about this place," Mattias breathed then continued. "You see am not actually from here am from a different place I wanted to know if there was-" Mattias stopped talks as he saw Levin is expression

Levin was silent for a moment then with a low voice almost threatening "What did you just say, your from a different world"

Mattias felt like he should have kept it a secret. "Did I say something wrong"

"No nothing at all," Levin replied calmly a with two finger pointed to Mattias is head

Mattias opened his mouth to respond but felt something crack

Something quite dangerous.

Like a pressure behind his brain, responding to Levin's action.

His breath caught.

"…Forgive me but we can't talk here," Levin said to him.

Mattias couldn't as much as react as purple light hit his head not destroying it but knocking him out

"Well then," Levin said standing up. "You just become interesting."
