As Mattias ran faster, he felt the world behind him stop, hushed, like a hand over his mouth. He felt that he would die if he didn't reach Miras in time, but as he thought, the air chilled, making every hair on his arms stand straight up, as if trying to flee his very body.
Looking up, he saw a bolt come his way.
"MATTIAS!!!" Miras shouted as he turned back, but his voice could not reach Mattias, who was too shocked by what was going on to hear anything.
Mattias didn't have the time to make out what was happening. "I don't know why, but this feels so warm…"
Then the sky cracked and rang with thunder that sounded like shattering glass.
"MAT—" Miras tried to scream, but all that remained was the smell of burning flesh.
"He will repair himself, right?" Miras said in shock, running to see, hoping one of those bolts wouldn't land there again.
Miras didn't think it would be too bad, but reaching the spot, even he felt sick to the stomach as Mattias was still conscious after that.
Miras jumped to the side away from Mattias as the black goo repaired his body.
Then another bolt hit the mountain, bursting into white static that created a blinding light.
"Wait… it can't be?!" he thought.
Another bolt hit. Then three more.
Miras looked around the area quickly, searching for something—or someone.
For a heart-stopping moment, a bolt fell right next to him, blowing him away.
Looking at Mattias, still being repaired by the black goo, he was disoriented for a moment, having trouble focusing.
He fell to the ground, getting up slowly.
Miras didn't know who it was, but all he remembered was that he needed to avoid someone.
As he got up, another bolt fell near him, blowing his arm off and making him scream in pain as he held it, gritting in agony.
Looking to his side, Miras saw Mattias get up.
Mattias, looking strained as he couldn't stop the bleeding, thought, "Hey… I just remembered something important."
Finally gaining some sense, Mattias turned to Miras, not able to make out what he was saying.
"I feel so heavy," Mattias thought.
The black goo reacted to this, expanding out of his ear and back in, repairing it, making him feel intense pain, but thanks to this, he could hear Miras.
Miras had been shouting, "HEY! ARE YOU LISTENING?! WE ARE GETTING ATTACKED!"
But as time passed, Miras was close to getting hit again. The next strike hit him almost directly, and time seemed to freeze as Mattias saw him fall, finally snapping back to normal sense.
Miras, falling, looked towards him as another bolt headed for him.
Mattias jumped to try and save him but was met with just a stare from Miras, who held out his hand.
The sight was like a dream to both of them. Mattias watched as time felt frozen, holding his hand out to Miras.
Miras, descending, grinned at the absurdity of this moment.
Holding his own hand out to Mattias, Miras raised a hand release a wave of wind pressure that pushed Mattias away as the bolt hit, he covered himself with his wings.
