Chapter 84 - Chapter 84 Highway Murder

"Whoa!"

After passing through the storm-covered area, there was clear sailing ahead, with bright sunshine.

The Tyndall effect was perfectly showcased at this moment.

Zhang Jie looked at the distant blue sky, and his mood brightened.

Nearly 30 kilometers of heavy rain was simply unbelievable.

The yellow camaro ss was still speeding along I-80, and in another 30km, it would reach the interchange, merging onto I-90, the road back to New York.

All along the way, Zhang Jie hadn't exceeded the speed limit, maintaining a normal pace, with heavy metal music constantly playing in the car.

Humming a tune, Zhang Jie swayed his body to the heavy metal music, which was a way to alleviate fatigue; otherwise, an overly monotonous driving journey could easily lead to drowsiness.

Just as he was about to reach the junction of I-80 and I-90, a roadblock appeared ahead.

This area was near Chicago, where such roadblocks were generally rare, unless for routine checks, and routine checks on this road were less frequent.

However, Zhang Jie hadn't been speeding or anything, so he wasn't worried as his vehicle's documents were all in order.

Since this was already near Chicago, the traffic flow was quite heavy.

When it was Zhang Jie's turn, the police officer merely glanced at him without saying a word. But after Zhang Jie's car passed, he picked up his walkie-talkie and said something unknown.

Thus, Zhang Jie was getting closer and closer to New York.

At this moment, music with a strong rhythm was still playing inside the camaro ss. Behind him, several cars were constantly weaving through traffic, overtaking and changing lanes.

Zhang Jie, in front, seemed oblivious to any abnormality.

As the distance between the cars grew shorter, Zhang Jie instinctively glanced at his rearview mirror and noticed the situation.

However, at first, he didn't feel anything was amiss, because it had been like this earlier too.

It was 4:30 PM, and the traffic on the road was heavy.

Two motorcycles also caught up from behind.

Initially, Zhang Jie didn't pay much attention.

However, a faint sense of crisis welled up in his heart, and only then did Zhang Jie realize, 'No, something's fishy!'

He once again cast his gaze into the rearview mirror, and this time, he finally noticed something unusual.

The cars that were constantly overtaking and changing lanes were all black, Chevrolet SUVs, and they appeared to have undergone some modifications.

"My luck can't be that bad, can it?"

Zhang Jie was speechless, then reached for the glove compartment.

Upon opening it, he found bullets and magazines inside, specially modified for him by Tej.

All 4 magazines were already loaded, plus the two spare extended magazines he carried, and the one in his gun, totaling 8 magazines.

Since the main purpose of this trip was to modify his car, he hadn't brought any heavy weapons, just two glock 34s and 8 magazines.

17 × 6 + 33 × 2 + 2 = 170 rounds of ammunition.

Currently, he had 170 rounds of ammunition ready for combat, but a highway chase was about to unfold, and 170 rounds might not be enough.

"Before the official engagement, let's see if I can slip away first."

Zhang Jie mumbled softly; he didn't want his beloved car to be riddled with bullet holes.

Without thinking, he immediately floored the accelerator. The camaro ss's V8 engine let out a deafening roar, and its speed instantly surged.

With Driving Lv2, it weaved through the highway like a yellow lightning bolt.

In the blink of an eye, he left the pursuers behind, but he truly had no way to deal with the motorcycles; they were clearly part of the pursuit, as they were closing in frantically.

"Damn it, I just got back, and I'm already being hunted down?? What's going on? Am I the assassin, or are you the assassins?"

Zhang Jie was also bewildered, not understanding the situation. An assassin like him being chased by a group of assassins—this script was a bit too fantastical.

The good news was that he was gradually shaking off the pursuers behind him. The bad news was that two motorcycles were still hot on his heels.

"Damn it, if you're going to play like this, I'm going to flip the table!"

Zhang Jie's eyes constantly scanned the road. Suddenly, he spotted an excellent position, so he floored the accelerator and rushed over. The motorcycles behind him naturally followed closely.

Just as a car was turning from that direction, Zhang Jie suddenly tapped the brakes.

The motorcycle behind him instantly came to the front, running parallel to Zhang Jie's car.

Seeing himself parallel to Zhang Jie, the motorcyclist immediately gripped the MP5 hanging on his chest.

"You think you have a chance to shoot, little guy?"

Zhang Jie sharply turned the steering wheel, and the entire car instantly swerved towards the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was greatly alarmed and tried to free his hand to control the direction, but it was too late. He was directly hit, and the entire motorcycle lost control, rear-ending another small car.

In that instant, he experienced the sensation of the world spinning wildly. Yes, he performed a front flip and plunged directly into the rear window of that car.

Motorcyclist - 1

The other motorcyclist immediately slammed on his brakes. The tires screeched against the ground, leaving two clear black skid marks.

Meanwhile, Zhang Jie had already floored the accelerator and sped away, giving the second motorcyclist no chance whatsoever.

"Fuck!"

The motorcyclist cursed angrily, unable to resist slapping the handlebars. Unexpectedly, the motorcycle suddenly swerved, and was immediately rear-ended by a Volkswagen behind him.

A strong pushback instantly hit him. The motorcyclist fell directly off the bike and landed on the hood of the car behind, while the motorcycle stubbornly continued to run for several hundred meters.

"Damn it, such a big living person, and we actually lost him."

In the cars that hadn't caught up behind, the people were yelling and cursing.

They hadn't expected that guy to be like an eel, driving so fast in such heavy traffic.

"Damn it!"

Unable to complete the mission, they could only report the news.

"He got away, we didn't catch him."

A woman's voice came from the other end of the phone.

"It's fine, let him run. Since he wasn't caught, then let Jackson's team handle it."

The voice on the other end of the phone was extremely cold, devoid of any emotion.

The several big men immediately understood after hearing it.

At this moment, in a certain hotel, a blonde woman stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the bustling traffic below, holding her phone.

The assassins who had just called were contacting her.

"Good luck, Zhang Jie, but if you escape this time, will you escape next time?"

Through the reflection in the floor-to-ceiling window, it could be seen that this woman was the same woman who had a photo with Liu Ziqiang.
