Whoosh—
A black rolling shutter door was slowly rolling upwards, creating a huge sound.
Inside, a tactical team, dressed in tactical uniforms and holding various weapons, stood in neat formation.
On the wall behind them hung all sorts of equipment: from basic Pistols to rifles, then to sniper rifles, everything imaginable, even two rocket launchers, and a dazzling array of cold weapons.
On the upper left chest of each member of this team was an emblem with the KH Alliance logo behind crossed swords, reflecting a faint red glow under the lights.
In front of them was an ergonomic chair, and on the chair sat a large white man, trimming the nails of his right hand with a nail clipper.
Leaning back in the chair, he crossed his legs and rested them on the office desk in front of him, where a piece of information was displayed on the computer screen.
It showed an Asian person.
Outside the rolling shutter door stood a woman, her alluring figure wrapped in a black outfit.
Strapped to each of her thighs was a gun holster, each holding a Colt revolver.
Behind her followed six assassins, all with gloomy expressions, looking like individuals not to be trifled with.
"Long time no see, Elena, hope you've been well."
The muscular white man showed no intention of getting up, merely scanning Elena's body with a flirtatious gaze.
Elena remained unmoved by his aggressive stare; she simply glanced at the muscular white man.
"The Madam sent me with an order: that man must be captured alive."
The muscular white man laughed.
"Alive? That's quite difficult. Would dead be acceptable?"
In fact, the mission order had already reached him, but he had been slow to act, not for any other reason than because this tactical team was the fourth-ranked team in the KH Alliance.
The team's name was 'Slaughter'.
Precisely because they had been slow to act, the Madam, who was behind Elena, personally dispatched her to deliver the command.
"Evil Wolf, don't forget, this is the Madam's order, not my personal request."
The woman's brows furrowed in extreme displeasure at this man's behavior, but she restrained herself and suppressed the emotion.
The six assassins behind her remained motionless.
"Since when does Viper also convey orders for the Madam?"
Evil Wolf was unconcerned, continuing to trim his right hand's nails. "My boss's mission was to eliminate him directly, not to capture him alive."
So, the crux of the problem lay here.
Both were bosses, but the orders they issued were completely different, which was why he hadn't made any moves.
"How about this, then? We'll set off together. You're responsible for capturing him alive, and I'm responsible for eliminating him. Whoever achieves their objective first, the other team stops. How does that sound?"
Evil Wolf suddenly suggested with a smile.
"Although I don't think you'll win this match."
Facing Evil Wolf's challenge, Elena hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement, "Alright!"
Anyway, there wasn't any mission at the moment, so a game like this might as well be a diversion.
She didn't believe the newcomer possessed any astonishing abilities; it was simply a matter of good luck, but could one person's luck last forever?
"Bingo! Then, let's get moving."
Evil Wolf retracted his legs from the desk, leaned forward, and tapped the Enter key on the keyboard. A large green label immediately appeared on the information displayed on the screen.
"ACCEPT!"
Viper Elena said nothing, turned, and left, with the six assassins following closely behind her.
"Finally, something interesting to do."
Clearly, Evil Wolf didn't take this mission seriously; his eyes showed no ripple, and neither did the tactical team members behind him.
At this time, Zhang Jie was on his way back. He had been in Detroit for 10 days and it was time to return to New York. If he didn't go back soon, he would truly be penniless on the road.
However, the driving experience of the modified camaro ss was indeed much better than before. Whether it was the throttle response, acceleration, or the wild V8 roar, it gave Zhang Jie a whole new feeling.
But on the way back, he wasn't in such a hurry, so he chose not to speed.
About halfway through his journey, he encountered an interesting young man on the road.
He was driving an old BMW on I-80, not particularly fast, so when Zhang Jie overtook him, he didn't react.
However, Zhang Jie's fleeting glance left him stunned.
Eddie Redmayne?
That seemed a bit unrealistic; this was America, what would a Brit be doing here?
But then he remembered that this wasn't his old world, and he relaxed a bit, figuring it was probably just someone who looked similar.
Zhang Jie didn't pay it any mind and continued towards New York.
Further ahead was New Jersey. Zhang Jie pondered whether to go in and look around, or just head straight back to New York?
But then he thought, he'd been out for quite a while, so he should just go back.
The roar of the American V8 echoed through I-80.
In the distance ahead, the sky suddenly grew very dark. Visibly dark clouds were continuously gathering in the distance, and even flashes of lightning appeared.
"Oh boy, it's going to rain up ahead."
Big trouble. Rainy interstate highways are the hardest to drive on, and the rain encountered on interstates is always a thunderstorm, with extremely poor visibility. A slight oversight could lead to a car accident.
And the scene in the distance was 100% a thunderstorm, and there was no sign of human habitation for dozens of miles around. Even if he stopped, the heavy rain would still come in this direction. He had no choice but to keep going forward.
Stopping on such a highway was not a wise choice, which is why Zhang Jie had two full fuel tanks in his trunk on the way back.
Wood had filled them for him.
However, he also tried his best to find gas stations to refuel along the way, trying not to use the fuel in the reserve tanks.
But he did need to use the reserve fuel during the Nevada stretch; there was no other way, it truly was desolate there.
Stopping the car meant a greatly increased risk of being robbed, so Zhang Jie had no intention of stopping. He pressed the accelerator and continued to charge towards the thunderstorm.
Splash!
Rumble!
When the yellow highway lightning bolt plunged into the darkness, raindrops the size of soybeans instantly splattered onto the car windows, creating a deafening pitter-patter. Accompanied by the background thunder, the sense of an apocalypse was complete.
At this time, Zhang Jie was alone in the car, so he turned on the car stereo.
50 Cent's "In Da Club" played from the speakers. Combined with the pitter-patter of the wind and rain outside, it created quite an atmosphere.
Reaching out to turn up the volume, Zhang Jie immersed himself in the rhythm of the music, his foot unconsciously pressing the accelerator a bit harder.
It had a sense of a 'Fast and Furious' apocalyptic brokenness.
