"For how long?"
"I don't know. But it felt like forever. Like they knew everything before I even did it."
Yura pulled out her phone. The burner one.
"After that meeting, all communication was through this. Messages that deleted themselves after I read them. Instructions. Payments. Threats."
"Threats?" Nari asked sharply.
"Yeah. If I didn't follow through. If I talked to anyone. They said I'd end up like Mina." Yura's voice dropped. "That's when I knew Mina didn't kill herself. That the Serpent did it."
"And you still didn't go to police," Haejin said.
"I was terrified! Don't you understand? The Serpent was watching. Always watching. They knew where I lived. Where I worked. Who I talked to."
