Chapter 34 - Great Storm of Karethrall

Revan's eyes narrowed. Anara raised an eyebrow. Even the Alicorn who had not said anything yet stirred a bit at the mention of the name.

"That storm is unlivable, it's filled with powerful creatures, and it has no land in which you can live in." Anara commented.

"That is why it is a good place to live in," Bane replied.

Bane then described the storm in full detail.

Selvarra is a continent covered fully in snow. In the heart of the continent, a storm raged. It was not a typical storm. It was different and massive.

The inside feels like a new realm. The land inside is larger than some empires. The air inside is full of aura. It messes with your perception and blessings, and most importantly, Bane mentioned that it stops blessings from outside from reaching anything inside.

Bane admitted that there was no agricultural land, but for that, you could find some creatures who gave the proper blessing. There is a place for a settlement at one spot he said.

"The middle of the storm, there is light, it is the only place with light and with the help of the Xoliti clan. There, the Phoenix clan can build a settlement. There's just one thing we need to take care of it's all the high and middle-tier creatures in the storm. There is nothing weaker than them.

Isabella spoke next, her voice firm.

"Then we are walking into a death trap. How are we supposed to keep families safe against so many strong creatures?"

"It is true that there might be casualties. But how long are we going to keep running? Are we just going to wait for them to find every hideout? We will end up scattered again. We need a place of our own, somewhere where we can group up, and no one will follow!"

Noah then commented,

"We don't need to send everyone there at once. We can send in a few expeditions. Clear out an area to settle down in, and then slowly move in the rest. We can set up barriers there as well."

Then, the Alicorn spoke. It didn't speak out loud but directly in everyone's mind. "The last time I went in the storm. I saw four unclassified tier creatures wagging a war. It also seemed like they all were empowered by the storm."

"But if you are able to succeed and make a safe heaven there. It will be one of the most secure and untraceable fortresses."

"There are rare minerals there, aura filled plants, and resources not found anywhere else. Eliminating the beasts there is not necessary, diplomacy might be possible. I can go with you on the expeditions."

Revan nodded and spoke. "The Xoliti clan can fully support the settlement's building. We can find creatures whose blessing can help crops grow in the soil. And we can make a barrier that can protect you against the cold winds of the storm."

Anara spoke. "While that is happening, the Phoenix clan can stay here. Many people in the clan still remember the help with the Mad Dragon. And our people have been raised knowing the ties between our deities and clans."

"But goodwill doesn't stay in the minds of people for long. We have at minimum three months before people start questioning why we are still supporting the Phoenix clan."

The Alicorn's voice sounded again, a bit solemn. "I will help the Phoenix clan to the best of my abilities, but not if it means the destruction of the Xoliti clan."

Isabella then replied, bowing her head, "That is more than enough help. We are grateful for everything you have done."

Then the Alicon's voice became a bit heavier.

"There is another concern. The host of the Phoenix cannot go in the storm. He has the essence of the Phoenix, maybe not at first, but the unclassified creatures there will realise what is in him. They will want to absorb the essence. The Host has to stay here."

"He is still weak," the Alicorn added. Leave him here, his family could stay with him, but not too many people."

Noah felt all eyes in the room turn to him.

"There is still time before we start the expeditions. I'll think about it in the meantime."

One month later

A month had already passed since Luis had come to the Xoliti clan headquarters, or city, some would say.

Each day blended into the next, Luis didn't notice the time fly by. He was just focused on training. Luis would train with whoever he could Aleina, Mira, and Rico but most of the time everyone was busy with their own things.

Luis's new goal was now intermediate aura tier, his dad said the key to achieving the next stage was manifesting aura outside your body.

Luis had spent the past month just training to try and manifest aura outside his body. Luis had to make his aura tangible. Not just aura coming out of his body in a gaseous state it had to be solid.

Luis expected something grand to happen when he made aura outside his body. But all that happened was him making strings of aura.

After two weeks of practicing, all he could do was make tiny threads that floated off his hands, like spider silk. He wasn't able to move them or shape them, they just floated off his fingertips.

Translucent energy that wobbled with every breath he took. He was tempted to ask his dad for more help, but he couldn't.

His parents, Noah and Elena, always seemed busy these days. Day and night, they were out somewhere doing something for the Phoenix clan. Whenever they came back at night, it was either to introduce someone to Luis and his siblings, or they would come back and just go to sleep, looking very exhausted every day. Seeing the exhaustion in their eyes, Luis never felt like asking for more help, it didn't feel right.

It wasn't like Luis had anyone else to go and ask either.

Raien, Sera, Bane, Freyhart, Isabella, and many more strong people from the Phoenix clan had disappeared. Luis didn't know what they were going to go and do, but his parents just told him it was something important for the Phoenix clan.

Even though there were some people who were still here, they all seemed so busy, always having something to do, especially Rico and Mira.

Because of which all Luis did was keep practicing, not stopping. Practicing every day, Luis had started to make the threads start appearing a bit faster, but they still never did what he wanted them to.

Luis decided that tonight he was gonna ask his parents, he felt like he had made enough progress alone. He had increased the speed of the threads emerging a lot. Before, it took him a minute of concentration to make any aura appear outside his body, but now he could do it in twenty seconds.

Luis waited until night time because that was the time his parents usually came home these days. He had planned to just wait by the door, but after he got tired a bit, he just laid down on his parents' bed and waited. Luis almost dozed off because of the warmth of the blanket on the bed when the door creaked open.

Luis's mother paused when she saw him.

"Luis?"

Luis's mother's voice was gentle but curious

Luis sat up on the bed, rubbing his eyes.

"What's up, Luis? Did you want to ask something?"

Then, with a smirk forming on her face, she said in a teasing tone,

"Or did my baby have a nightmare? Don't worry, Luis, mommy's here."

Luis stood upright from the bed, slightly flustered. "No! I wanted to ask how to use aura outside of my body."

"Well"

She said while walking towards him and sitting on the bed.

"Why don't you sit beside me and show me how much progress you have made. Your dad did tell me he told you to self-study for a while."

Luis sat on the edge of the bed, with his hands stretched outwards, fists closed. A second passed, then two, and so on until threads started appearing out of Luis's hands.

The threads swayed, floating like they were in an invisible breeze. Luis frowned because of the focus he had to use. "This is all I can do."

Elena chucked at the tense look on Luis's face because he was focusing on speaking and keeping the threads out at the same time. "That's very impressive, Luis."

Luis thought she was being sarcastic because of the laughter, but looking up and seeing her genuine expression of amazement, he realised she wasn't being sarcastic.

"You can stop now, Luis,"

Elena said while patting his head.

"The reason your dad wanted you to practice by yourself was so you could just get used to bringing aura outside your body. And I know my little Luis tries his hardest, which means you have probably done enough."

After taking a small sign,

"Since your father has been busy with clan stuff, I'll teach you the next step myself."
