"So President Brown and Wright Group already worked things out long ago? Are you two teaming up to give me a warning shot?"
Damien lifted his hand as if to touch her. Sophia immediately stepped back in guarded reflex.
A trace of a frown flickered across his face as he said quietly, "My cooperation with Wright Group was finalized only in the past few days. I don't understand what you mean. Have I somehow offended your interests?"
"Mr. Brown, you're a smart man. And smart men should know this—I despise liars most. Your partnership with Wright Group is your own business. I would never reach into your territory. But if the two of you join forces to bully me too far, don't blame me for biting back."
Damien's fingers curled slightly as he tried to explain, "The cooperation with Wright Group was a decision made by the board."
