Daichi's expression was calm, seeing how Kurogami just killed someone mercilessly, that didn't change his view about Kurogami, it even made him respect him more."
In this world, strength is law. The weak perish, not because the strong wish it, but because the world itself demands it, "
It is foolish to think God himself doesn't know evil. He created this world, didn't he? If even the Creator allows evil, maybe evil isn't really evil, maybe it's necessary, Just as yin and yang move together in perfect harmony, good and evil are the same. There is no such thing as pure light or pure darkness, only balance. What matters is who has the strength to survive it.
The audience stopped cheering for the reaper gang.
The arena's announcer blinked, unable to find words. The entire floor where Kurogam stood was carved open by an unseen slash, a deep gouge through solid steel.
Fist and Sword were shaking now and on the run. The Reaper Gang had lost three members, warriors who once dominated the killing games, lost to a man who as the weakest battle gadget.
High above, in the control room, the Reaper Gang's overseerer watched in disbelief."Who is this guy…?""Name registered as White Monkey," his aide answered nervously."Brought in by Green Monkey. No record before now."
The commander's face darkened, jaw tight. He turned back to the screens, watching Kurogami.
Kurogami stood on the spot, assessing his weak core, he was amazed, he had only used two percent of his Khaos. This Khaos expenditure should have taken about 100% of Khaos essence if the Khaos user was in the foundation realm and lower if they were in the higher realm, but it only took two percent.
The amount of drakon from the sniper ans net added to his, but he didn't even care much about it. Kurogami was busy thinking about his core when suddenly the contact lens in his eye was activated, and it showed the hologram of Daichi's face, placed at the lowest part of his view not to obstruct his eyes.
"Yoo," Daichi said without using his lips.
"What's up?, What, how are you talking without moving your lips?" Kurogami was surprised.
Daichi only smiled but didn't move his lips. "I can't talk properly, I'm being watched by the reaper gang."
Daichi was well aware of one of the major skills of the reaper gang, which was hacking; they were capable of hacking all communication devices that entered the building almost instantly. This was how the reaper gang where able to grow in power, get information on bets, and how to best manipulate the game to benefit them. This was why Daichi gave him the lens when he got in, and no one would know a lens was a communication device.
Daichi's saying he had been watched was referring to the female attendant who where always placed in all VIP rooms, they were like reaper eyes who watched the client's every move.
To remove suspicions, Daichi had even placed a bet against Kurogami, betting on the reaper gang to win. This alone told the attendant that he didn't have trust in who he sponsored, thinking Kurogami would lose, doing this would be to mitigate his loss.
"Kurogami, you have been gaining too much attention. I need you to take a couple of hits." Daichi said
"ok," Kurogami said, "he turned his gaze, and he saw multiple plays coming, five cybernetic enhanced warriors." Hehe, alright, couple hit coming up,"
The warrior who stayed in the middle had a little distance from his crew. He had a massive scorpion-bodied as big as two elephants, he had bulky human upper limbs, and razor-sharp mechanical claws which also had a hole in the middle radiating khaos essence, the other hand had a big canoon, His tale was long and black in color, it sharply pointed tip open in three layers in the middle, a red hole was placed, also radiating, khaos essence, on his shoulders, he had missile launchers installed on it, pure 99% cybernetic enhancement.
These five move in unison, clearly analyzing Kurogami's movements and weaknesses from his earlier fight. In no doubt, the techniques he displaced were way stronger than theirs, but that strong technique would require a lot of khaos essence expenditure, they all guessed that Kurogami was dried out of khaos essence.
"I can't even feel a hit of Khaos energy being used, he must have run very low, I don't know which realm he his but he looks way too young to be in the intermidation realm, tops I bet my money on upperstage foundation realm." The scorpion-like player Verrak let out an evil smile as he looked at Kurogami as an injured beast king, having no fighting abilities.
Khaos energy, the lifeblood of every Khaos user. To run dry in battle was no different from a beast king stripped of its claws. Without it, even the strongest would fall like prey.
Khaos energy replenished itself, slowly, naturally, mostly depending on your Talent
. And right now, that slowness made this the perfect moment to strike.
Verrak, the Scorpion Player, remembered the path that brought him here. He had never been the strongest, but he was always the last one standing. His rule was simple: let the titans tear each other apart, and when one beast falls and the other bleeds, strike. Kill the wounded king and take his crown.
That was how Verrak survived. That was how he earned his name. And now, with a fresh deal signed under a wealthy higher-up, he had access to gear worth fortunes, refined prosthetics, adaptive plating, weapons that breathed Khaos.
This time, he wasn't the scavenger. He was the beast king himself.
Verrak's grin stretched wide, flashing sharp white teeth before fading back into a composed calm. He'd always been the careful kind, the hunter who struck only when sure of the kill.
"I don't know what tricks he's hiding," Verrak muttered, his voice low but edged with caution. "Better to use the puppets first… let's see if the beast still has any fight left in him."
He let out a guttural war cry. The sound tore through the noise of battle, and his companions moved instantly, charging toward Kurogami like unleashed hounds.
They begin their coordinated assault, and one of the Verrak companions seems to have a big, rounded fist, like the advanced version of what Kurogami's weapon is. He dashed and jumped towards Kurogami, launching rockets, heavy punches.
Kurogami could have dodged, could have countered, but Daichi's words still echoed in his mind. Instead, he crossed his arms before him, forming a shield.
BAM!
The impact struck like a thunderclap, a sonic burst rippling through the air. The force sent Kurogami skidding backward, his boots scraping against the floor, before he lost balance and fell. Twisting mid-roll, he caught himself with one hand, muscles straining as he dragged his body to a halt several steps later.
"Oh my god, the attack connected, it seems our main character has run out of Khaos energy. The announcer barked
"Ahhh," one of the audience members watching opened his mouth.
This was a surprise to him; the reaper gang, who were stronger, couldn't leave a scratch on Kurogami, but they did.
This put the audience who bet on Kurogami at the start of panic; some instantly removed their bet, losing twenty percent of what they placed. The Reaper Gang profited from this, but some still held their hopes and prayed.
The betting system was simple, almost primal.
Everyone in the audience could wager on any player. Whenever that player took down an opponent, the bettors received a small percentage of the winnings, after the arena's cut, of course.
But those who chose to act as sponsors played a different game. Once their money backed a fighter, it couldn't be withdrawn unless that fighter reached a green zone. The risk was higher, but so were the rewards.
It was the natural order of things, predator and prey. The audience clung to their chosen warriors the way tiny fish cling to a shark, feeding on the scraps of its kills.
Verrak smiled, widening. "I guess I was right," he immediately launched several rockets towards white monkey, Kurogami dodges the impact, which targets the floor beside him. he couldn't dodge them all and was still caught in the impact.
Immediately, the others charge in as well. As Kurogami came out of the explosion, to figure jumped towards him, attacking in their way
Plasma Khaos bursts and a heavy sword swung towards him. Kurogami took some hits and used his defensive techniques to absorb the damage and retreat between blows. His white outfit starts to tear and stain with light bruises; these bruises weren't able to cause serious bleeding, but it was enough for a show. This was a shocking sight for the spectators who had not seen him bleed. Some people cheered the other player while others had a worried look towards Kurogami
Meanwhile, Sword and Fist (the surviving Reaper Gang members) had made enough distance from Kurogami. They know exactly where the safe zone will appear, and they start cutting through weaker opponents on their way to safety.
Sword couldn't see Kurogami's intense battle, but from the way the announcer was talking about the intense battle, the announcer even said the attacker connected to white monkey, this made Sword think, "Was he already out of Khaos essence?" he thought, his mind went back to that time, witnessing Kurogami's killing intent, "No, khaos essence wasnt the problem for him, he most be planing something." sword thought.
Kaia and Shin, watching from above chasing after the reaper gang stealthily.
The arena constantly changed, so some places were lower while others were higher. They chased after the remaining reaper gang. They recognized this strategy and followed it, intending to strike once the safe zone opens and is located.
