The birds chirped, their melodious chants caught Elodie's attention. Her red rimmed eyes travelled past the glass window of this scary place she was held up at.
Just outside the window, birds were jumping from one tree branch to another.
She blinked hard as if she couldn't believe her eyes. This was the first time she has come across something that wasn't terrifying in this realm. Something that was common back in her realm.
Maybe if she stared at them for a moment longer, she might turn into one of them and together…they would fly far away from here. From this gray walled cell they kept her.
When she first opened her eyes, Elodie was terrified to find herself in a cell with four gray walls, and laying on a bed.
Some sort of device that flickered with lights and beeped every now and then, with strings connected to her body. Especially the one standing tall and its string was connected to her arm, it was sucking up her blood.
Panicking, she had pulled all of them off her body instantly. She was afraid of even moving around, so she just pulled her legs over her chest and waited. Waited for her fate to show direction.
She was surprised by the advancement of this place. They have confined her in this place andwere sucking up her blood by using such unimaginable means. Devices that she had never seen or heard of before.
Her mind and heart were stil trying to process things. Still trying to accept that this was now her new reality. The Dark Prince has locked her up here.
Why didn't he just kill her for running away? Why did he let her live? And if he was still planning on marrying her, then why were they still at this place? Shouldn't they be back at DorkVille already?
So many questions swirled in her mind with nobody to answer them. But one thing was true about all of this…panicking wasn't going to help her out. Despite being afraid to the bones, she decided to will herself to calm down and process one thing at a time.
Like where was she? Who are these people? How was the Dark Prince here as well? Had he always had this secret realm that he hid from everybody elses? How could she protect herself from the creatures of this realm?
One of them almost took her life last night and she was still traumatized by it. And if she was lucky enough, how could she escape from here?
A door was opened and her lowered eyes met with shiny shoes, most elegants ones she had ever seen. Her curious gaze slid up to the attir. She didn't even know what it was or what to call it.
Back at her realm…men would wear tunics with belts at the waist and braies as undergarments. While women wore long corset gowns which allowed them freedom of movement and covered their nakedness from prying eyes.
The only difference was in the quality of the fabrics material, like wool, silk, linen and leather. Depending on their social classes.
The royalties and the nobles wore silk and leather, while the commoners and the peasants wore wool and linen.
As her curious filled eyes travelled up the length of the person, her breath got caught when they locked with his gaze. His dark eyes. She found herself jerking back in fear.
Her limbs began to tremble and her eyes widening with each step the man took toward her, his eyes trained on her bleeding wrist. "P-please don't kill me." She pleaded in a whisper, too afraid to rise her voice, tears pooling on her eyes.
The man froze right before the bed. His mind was puzzled at her words. Then his eyes landed on her bleeding wrist. When he brought her to the hospital last night, he was informed that she had suffered a severe blood loss.
But now she has removed the cannula. And her arm was bleeding out and the white sheets were red.
"Spar-spare my life." Then her sobs filled the room, making him frown even deeper. He crossed his hands over his broad chest. Watching the frightened woman shaking like chicken.
It happened last night too. She was pleading for him to spare her life. He shoved his hands in his pants, sighing. "Stop crying." He uttered with a deep frown, making her sniffle.
"Look, I'm seriously not in the mood to play around with you. So just do what you are told to. And I said…to stop crying." He growled r, making her body flinch and scooting further away from him.
Elodie watched him look down and huffed, as though he was controlling his anger before he raised his head again.
"You staying here, until I say otherwise." He deadpaned.
His name was already all over the news. Some people even recorded him when the accident happened. And this news wasn't good for his company.
Elodie could only listen to his words. Her mind was racing with something else. "What are your motives with me?" She finally muttered, wiping her tears roughly.
She has been cowering before him only because his reputation preceeds him in all the Kingdoms. But then that didn't mean she would let him take control of her pathetic life.
Elodie suddenly chuckled, "I see you're offended by the fact that I refused to marry you, is it not? So you decided to hunt me all the way here? Or was this yours and Meredith's plans this whole time? Where is she? Stop pretending, I see right through your facade." She felt so much anger towards him. And the thought of Meredith made her mouth taste bitter. As if a backet of worms were shoved down her throat.
But the Dark Prince only frowned deeper at her. As if he could't understand a word that she said. "My secretary will deal with you."
And with one last glance at her bleeding arm the Dark Prince left the room. Shutting it with a loud thud, making her flinch again.
