ONE WEEK LATER.
Valentina was on the couch surfing through channels on the TV when the living room door opened.
Startled, she sat up, her head whipping towards the door.
It was unusual for anyone to walk into someone's home without at least knocking or ringing the bell.
Her thumping heart settled a little when she looked and saw the intruder.
"Hey." She sat up, dropping her legs to the floor.
Julia eyed her from her head down to her toe, her nose scrunched condescendingly.
Valentina didn't know how to act, or what to do with herself.
She waited for Julia to at least say something, and hoped she could proceed from there.
"You seem very idle," she finally said, as she took a seat opposite her.
"I was waiting for Julien to return. He promised to show me some job opportunities. Is he on his way?" She asked innocently.
Julia rolled her eyes, unable to keep her disgust to herself.
"You would like for him to come around, wouldn't you?"
