Chapter 48 - 48

"What the hell did I do?" Lin Meilin was lying leisurely on the soft bed, with her large breasts pressing against the cushion and her perky butt lifted up. Her silky white hair was scattered around, giving her an eerie charm, and her eyes were slightly closed, making her appear asleep.

What did you do?" Yun Ning gritted her teeth in anger. "She was your responsibility. You were supposed to guide her, make her stronger. And what did you do?"

The more she spoke, the angrier she got. "You turned her into a sheltered flower."

"Not to mention reaching my level, it would be a miracle if she could ever step into Core Condensation in her lifetime."

"Hey, that's hardly my fault." Lin Meilin just shrugged in response. "I gave her all the resources. If she couldn't make any progress, she is to be blamed, not me."

"Hmph!" Yun Ning just let out a cold snort.

The two of them then sat there in silence for a while. It wasn't until fifteen minutes had passed that Yun Ning spoke first. And this time, her voice was calm.

"How is the progress?"

"It's good." Lin Meilin just let out a soft, enchanting smile while still resting there with her eyes closed. "The net has been cast, the bait has been set. Now we only need to wait."

"And what about you?" Lin Meilin asked again, "Have you finished your preparations?"

"Heh..." Yun Ning just laughed in response. "Don't worry, I am almost done."

-------------

"Phew... Just a few more days." Yang Ze, on the other hand, was extremely satisfied with his speed of progress. In less than three days, he had managed to gather more than fifty strands of internal energy. With such speed, it would take him only a few more days to step into the late-stage Pulse Opening.

"Good thing that those plague gods aren't here to disturb me." Thinking about Lin Wan and Cang Yue, Yang Ze shuddered for a moment before breaking out in cold sweat. He could understand why Lin Wan was so fixated on him. After all, she knew the truth about his physique. But what about Cang Yue?

He had no idea about how that woman thinks. He wasn't stupid enough to believe that she would personally take him out of the sect to the ruins just out of the goodness of her heart.

Were it anywhere else, he might have thought that she was just kind, but not in this world.

In this world where women were dominant and men were suppressed, it was a hard pill to digest. After all, she was the Saintess of the Duality sect... at the very top of the food chain, whereas he was a mere slave, or that's what they thought about him. How could someone like her in the high heavens favour someone like him? He wouldn't believe that she did it out of the goodness of her heart, even if someone beat him to death.

"Practice... Practice hard." There was nothing else he could do at the moment other than practice.

--------------

Cang Yue, on the other hand, after making some last-minute preparations, walked to the highest peak of the sect, took out a small palm-sized paper bird and poured in her internal energy.

It wasn't until she was almost out of the Internal energy that the small paper bird suddenly inflated before reaching the size of a large horse.

Cang Yue just poured one pill in her mouth before jumping on the paper bird, and the moment she sat on it, the bird seemed to come alive. It flapped its paper wings before suddenly taking off in the air, leaving behind a gust of wind.

It wasn't until the bird reached the height of almost one mile above the ground that it stopped. From such a distance, everything beneath her appeared as a dot.

Cang Yue just took a look beneath her before the bird thrust forward like a rocket, completely disappearing from the skies above.

"Ugh... It's still bothersome to fly on this thing." Cang Yue, who was already miles away from the Duality Sect and was moving at a rapid speed, grunted in displeasure after throwing another pill in her mouth.

Usually, she would have taken a Demonic Horse from the sect's stable to reach her destination in the span of a few hours, but she decided not to ride it.

On one hand, it was because of how flashy that thing was, while on the other, it was because of this magical paper bird.

She didn't know where her mother got this magical thing from. She hadn't heard or seen anything like this before. Even in the Duality Sect and the major sects in other regions... There was not a single mention of something like this... something that could fly.

Her mother especially instructed her many times not to let anyone else see this thing. If not for the fact that she was heading to such a dangerous mission, she would have never taken it out.

As a saintess of the Duality Sect, she understood her duties better than anyone else. She wasn't naive enough to think that the Heavenly Sword Sect wouldn't have its own spies. Perhaps the news of her mission has already been leaked outside.

Perhaps, they were already waiting in ambush for her, and the moment she left the territory of the Duality Sect, she would be attacked.

Even if that wasn't the case, she didn't want to take any unnecessary risks. Since she already has such a treasure, she would be a fool not to use it.

And thus... for the first time in many years, she used the paper bird once again.

But even though it was such a magical thing, it had a huge disadvantage. And that was the immense amount of internal energy required to run this damn thing.

Even she, who was at the Fifth Vein Expansion realm, had to constantly take precious pills to keep it running. But even though there was such a disadvantage, she was more than happy to use it, not because it could fly, but because its speed was much faster than anything else.

The journey that should have taken her three to four hours on the back of the best Demonic Horse was completed in less than twenty minutes.

Looking at the majestic mountain range that looked like hundreds of swords sticking out of the ground, she took a deep breath. She had seen this scenery many times before, but no matter how many more times she saw it, she was still amazed.

Unlike the Duality Sect, which was located in a small mountain range, the Heavenly Sword Sect's terrain was special.

There were more than one hundred peaks cluttered together on a large grassland. Each peak looked like a sword, consisting of hundreds of disciples.

They all seemed to be arranged in a specific order, forming the shape of a half-moon.

"So, where do I begin?" She lowered the paper bird while looking for a perfect place to ambush.

Perhaps because the Duality Sect hasn't made any move against them, the security of the Heavenly Sword Sect seemed rather lax. There weren't that many guards roaming around, and the few women who were on duty were busy practising with their swords.

Cang Yue took a deep look around, hoping to find the perfect place for an ambush. She first thought about taking out the guards and creating some panic. But after thinking about how much noise it would make, she shook her head.

"Should I just rush in and kill everyone in sight?" Cnag Yue thought about it too, but again shook her head in refusal. It was night, and she would have to go into every single house one by one, and if an elder were stationed there, she could forget about escaping from this place.

And just when she was in a dilemma, she noticed some movement in one of the peaks in the distance.

Narrowing her eyes, she quietly flew towards the peak and stopped at a distance where she could make out what was going on.

Even though she couldn't hear the words, she could roughly guess the situation.

It seemed an elder had gathered more than one hundred members of the sect and was giving them instructions.

The members quietly listened before bowing to the elder in charge and heading down from the mountain.

"Eh!?" Cang Yue held her breath as she tried to make out their strength. From the techniques and their internal energy that they were using to head down the mountain, she could see that the strongest was in the First Vein Expansion Realm.

"So lucky!?" Cang Yue couldn't believe her luck. One moment, she was thinking about how to ambush these bastards from the Heavenly Sword Sect, and the next moment, they were already rushing to their deaths.

"I..." Cang Yue felt a tinge of hesitation in her heart. She couldn't put her finger on it, but she had a bad feeling.

"Should I abort the mission?" Cang Yue thought about it too, but thinking about how the Sect Leader and other Grand Elders have ordered it personally and failing it might put her status at risk, she just gritted her teeth in anger.

"Damn it." In the end, she decided to first kill these women and then head back as fast as she could. She didn't believe that with her strength and the help of the paper bird, there was any danger. At worst, she could abandon her mission and escape.

With these thoughts in mind, she took a deep breath, jumped to the nearest tree and waited there. The moment she jumped off the paper bird, it returned to its previous palm-sized state.

Thankfully, Cang Yue didn't have to wait for too long.

In less than ten minutes, the hundred or so women rushed down from the mountain. They seemed to be in a frenzy, wanting to reach their destination as soon as possible. Almost all of them were using different movement techniques.

Cang Yue, upon seeing the aura from their techniques, made sure that the strongest amongst them was only at the First Vein Expansion realm.

After making sure that there was no danger, she narrowed her eyes as her figure seemed to be engulfed in a dark smoke, completely hiding her appearance.

Without any hesitation, she jumped off the tree and stood in front of the Heavenly Sword Sect's members.

Before any of them could even react, Cang Yue raised her right hand with her index finger pointing to her right and the moment she did, a long, thin needle that was almost a foot long seemed to have emerged from her finger.

Cang Yue bent her knees and thrust forward, directly closing the distance between her and the sword sect members.

Her target was the only member of the team who was in the First Vein expansion realm.

Before that woman could even register what was going on, she only saw a blur as a figure enveloped in smoke disappeared from its position and arrived in front of her.

The last thing she saw was a sharp, long needle reflecting the moonlight, inching closer to her forehead.

*Puff

With the sound of skull-piercing, the figure of the woman fell down, and with it, the hundred or so members of the Heavenly Sword Sect paused in their footsteps, some of them already with their swords out, while some of them still registering what had just happened.
