Chapter 170 - Chapter 24: Hear the Silence of Extinction

The ground beneath them was a city of flesh, bone, and organs.

A world that had existed for millions of years.

The "Precursors" had migrated from planet to planet, occupying one world after another, enslaving the native Kaiju and using them as tools. This place had become their center, a hub from which they constantly searched for new worlds to colonize.

In their blood, bones, and memories, there was only destruction.

Consumption without return.

Now, this Kaiju world was dying.

Resources were exhausted.

The "Precursors" were barely surviving.

If they failed to find a new habitat, only extinction awaited them.

In this world destined to become their grave, a fading sun hung in the mist-filled sky. Its bleak, magnificent twilight glow illuminated everything.

It was the twilight of the "Precursors."

In their vision, the demon-god mech swung the giant sword in its hand with ease, pointing it directly at them. The radiant wings behind it eclipsed even the dying sun's afterglow.

Like a god passing judgment.

The "Precursors" had inherited fragments of Chinese from the consciousness of the now-dead Hannibal Chau.

They understood Morin's words.

"Your world is beautiful," Morin said calmly. "So I want to destroy it. I'm giving you a heads-up."

The giant sword came down.

It slashed straight into the magnetic field generator below.

Alien metal shattered like paper.

The generator was severed.

The stabilizing magnetic field vanished.

In an instant, the wormhole's energy balance collapsed.

A chain reaction followed.

The wormhole was completely destroyed.

Their retreat was gone.

"Now-"

The Abyssal Blade's light wings spread wide.

Weak gravity amplified the thrust.

The massive body surged forward.

The giant sword rose.

And fell.

"I will cut, tear, and chop your filthy bodies!"

The strike erased everything.

The few "Precursors" present.

The control consoles beneath them.

Gone.

"I will take everything from them," Morin continued coldly, "and become the destroyer of this world."

The Abyssal Blade raised its sword.

Behind it, more than a dozen mechs scattered in all directions.

Every one of them carried a nuclear bomb.

Many were nuclear-powered themselves.

Which meant-

They were bombs too.

The "Precursors" wanted a polluted world.

Morin would give them one.

At the cost of death.

"Chirp, chirp, chirp!"

Information surged through the hive mind.

The deaths of those few "Precursors" transmitted instantly.

Fear froze their bodies.

Some died on the spot.

Every "Precursor" had experienced the Abyssal Blade's charge and slash.

The Kaiju hive mind filtered sensation.

But the "Precursors'" shared consciousness did not.

Morin's single strike, which should have killed only three-

Triggered a chain collapse.

At least ten thousand "Precursors" died.

Silence followed.

Then realization.

Disaster.

The enemy had crossed the wormhole.

They were being attacked in their own world.

Panic.

Rage.

How could the great "Precursors" fall so low?

Attack.

Counterattack.

They released Kaiju from the breeding pools.

Orders flooded out.

This world's gravity was weak.

Kaiju here could grow far larger than those on Earth.

Their baseline-

Category 5.

But the mechs, modified with Morin's technology, didn't need size.

They had speed.

They had power.

If they couldn't win-

They would detonate.

The retreat was already gone.

Morin was the only pilot.

He could leave at any time.

If the mechs couldn't return, why leave them behind as scrap?

The Abyssal Blade accelerated.

Light wings burned at full output.

The plasma greatsword flashed.

A Category 5 Kaiju split cleanly in half.

Morin laughed.

And charged again.

This kind of battle-

Was intoxicating.

"The wormhole has been destroyed," Tendo Choi announced in the command room.

No one knew how to react.

The goal was achieved.

But not in the way anyone expected.

Zhao Wei, who had been "drugged unconscious," finally "woke up" after treatment.

One sentence ended the discussion.

"No matter what," Zhao Wei said flatly, "he is our hero."

-

In the "Precursor" world, the slaughter continued.

Kaiju here were enormous.

Some reached Category 7.

Weak gravity allowed it.

But it also made them clumsy.

The Abyssal Blade thrived.

Lower gravity meant higher tolerances.

On Earth, a speed of 1 unit could tear the mech apart.

Here?

Three to four times that was nothing.

The Kaiju's top speed barely reached 0.5.

There was a saying-

All martial arts, only speed reigns supreme.

The Abyssal Blade had speed.

It had overwhelming destructive power.

The plasma greatsword sliced through shells that only nuclear weapons could breach.

Paper-thin.

The high-frequency plasma wings were both propulsion and shield.

Even direct hits couldn't penetrate them.

The Kaiju came like an ocean.

To Morin-

They were cannon fodder.

"Chirp, chirp, chirp!"

The "Precursors" finally understood.

If this continued, extinction was guaranteed.

They deployed their last resort.

Planet-level weapons.

As a species capable of colonization and wormhole creation, they possessed such arms.

But this planet was already dying.

Using them would accelerate its destruction.

That was why they had relied on Kaiju instead.

Four points of light appeared.

Four beams followed.

They struck the Abyssal Blade simultaneously.

The "Precursors" targeted the leader.

End him first.

The Abyssal Blade's four plasma wings wrapped around its body.

All power diverted to defense.

Morin didn't retreat.

He still had a trump card.

By his calculations-

It would hold.

The beams collided with the shield.

Energy erupted.

Shockwaves tore outward.

Everything in range-

Ground and sky-

Was annihilated.

Bone.

Flesh.

Metal.

Hearts.

Scraped clean.

The light faded.

The "Precursors" looked up.

The Abyssal Blade emerged.

Its wings were gone.

Parts of its body were missing.

It looked broken.

Scrap.

The attack had worked.

"Chirp, chirp, chirp!"

They rejoiced.

Kaiju swarmed back in, preparing to finish it.

Capture the human.

Force a synaptic link.

Steal everything about Earth.

Just as the Kaiju closed in-

The Abyssal Blade raised its head.

Its speakers crackled.

The voice was broken at first.

Weak.

Then-

Clear.

Resonant.

"I march toward death," the voice said, "and I hope it is my own."

"But as long as life exists-"

"As long as time still has meaning-"

"I will not stop."

"I am the Darkin."

"I cannot die."

The words echoed across the world.

The demon god declared his return.

"Behold-"

"The undying!"

Time reversed.

The shattered body restored itself.

Armor reformed.

Systems reignited.

Light wings spread once more.

The giant sword rose.

Power greater than before surged.

"I-am-undying!"

Fear overwhelmed instinct.

Even the Kaiju's animal minds resisted control.

They retreated.

One mech.

One pilot.

Forcing back millions.

The "Precursors" stared.

They couldn't comprehend it.

Restoration.

Defiance.

Retreat against orders.

Panic set in.

This time, the Abyssal Blade didn't charge.

It stood still.

Sword in its right hand.

Left palm raised outward.

Morin was done fighting.

Definitely not because he'd run out of mana.

"Your reckoning ends with me."

His left hand clenched.

Across the battlefield-

The scattered mechs detonated.

Nuclear fire bloomed.

"Listen," Morin said softly,

"To the silence of extinction."
