Chapter 18 - Pack Of Wolves: Only If

Forest Of Acrata...

Unknown Pov.....

The witch arrived as earlier said, immediately after thirty minutes from the merging process between the soul of the Angel of war with the baby born from the woods.

The witch bent the wind to her command and landed safely. She walked over to the crying baby and in no time, the child kept quiet.

I gave a sigh of relief at the silence that reigned after the baby's cries came to an end.

I looked once more below and I quickly noticed that the baby was in the arms of the which and also, there was a bit of familiarity that was building up between the witch and the baby.

I sighed once again in relief, as it seemed that everything was going according to plan.

All that's just needed is for the witch to plainly accept and adopt the baby and my mission would be complete.

Looking down below, I miraculously noticed the witch saying something about willing to adopt the baby.

My heart fluttered at the feeling of not needing to do anything for my plans to go according to plan.

In no time spent, the witch would journey back to her house and surely breed this baby, according to the prophecy.

"Don't worry, piggy. We'll be going home soon".

Linda assured after some moments of staring at the baby in her arms.

She can't really shake off the fact that he's the most beautiful creature she had ever seen.

Not to lie, the baby had a facial appearance of an otherworldly ethereal merman.

He is just so cute that she can't stop observing his features.

This should remind a lot of people about how cute and handsome, baby Drake, the governor's son is.

However, this steeled Linda's resolve about taking the child and raising him as her own.

Only if she knew that the child before her was both special and extraordinary in every way.

Only if she knew that the child she is about to breed is part of the bigger picture fate had designed.

Only if she knew that the baby she just recently adopted is connected with the son of a Governor in a unique way.

Only if she knew that destiny and fate had brought the baby to her.

Nevertheless, taking and adopting this mysterious baby as her own, sets her life on a different path.

Taking this baby and willing to breed (raise) him fulfills one phrase of the prophecy.

That would change her fate forever.

Linda gets on her feet and is ready to journey back to were she had left her firewoods and her bag.

She had finally found the baby that's the source of those never ending cries and she's willing to adopt him and take him as her own.

Nevertheless, there is one little problem.

Well, if it is a problem.

The problem that unfolds to be the fact that she couldn't use her air and wind abilities in flying to where she had kept her things, while also carrying a baby in her arms.

Is not that she couldn't do it or anything.

But using air magic or controlling the wind requires a certain amount of concentration plus the right fusion of spiritual energy.

She fears that if she looses concentration while carrying the baby and flying up in the air, there's likely to be a crash, with her falling from the sky.

Gaining concentration back after loosing it, will be a lot of stress.

There was a time when she had actually lost control of her air magic and to be sincere, it was not good.

With how cute the baby is, for sure she's definitely going to loose concentration.

She decided to use foot in trekking down to where she had earlier kept the already gathered firewoods and her bag.

Once she gets there, she would probably think of a way to carry both the firewoods, the bag and the newly found mysterious baby to her house.

Maybe she could use spell casting to carry both her things and the newly adopted baby.

With that in mind, Linda now on her feet, turned to an unknown direction and using personal instincts, started her little journey.

Journeying through the woods, she made very good use of her legs as she continued walking in between huge and thick trees that surrounded her.

As she walked, from time to time, she would observe the beautiful baby she was taking to her home and with every observation, she would notice that the baby was staring at her.

Sometimes, reaching out for her face with his little hands.

This little act of the baby would undeniably make her smile, a lot.

The part of the woods where she had kept her bag and firewoods was not very far when she heard, the inevitable.

Linda gasped in sudden fright when she heard the simultaneous howling of wolves that seemed to be heading her direction.

"Aaaaaaaooooohhh!!!"

The simultaneous howling of wolves got to her ears and she gasped in sudden fright.

She stopped walking and looked around her, but it was obvious she didn't hear wrong.

It was actually the howls of wolves.

"Wolves!!"

Linda absentmindedly said in response to the continuous howls she was hearing.

She was able to connect the dots and figure out that the wolves were actually heading her direction.

Although, she wasn't scared. She only feared for the possibility of them being a lot of wolves and also for the safety of the baby she just newly adopted.

Picking up her pace, once again, she continued walking but this time, she walked faster.

She walked as fast as her legs could carry her (and the baby).

She didn't even know when she broke into a run.

After five minutes of running in order to avoid the wolves that seemed to be heading her direction, she got to the place where she had left her gathered firewoods and her bag.

Without thinking twice, she knelt down on the ground on the ground and picked her bag with her right hand.

In her haste, she was about carrying the firewoods on her head when the inevitable happened.

Howls of wolves immediately caught her attention.

By the time she turned around to look at the direction where the howls came from, she was already surrounded by wolves.

At first, she was shocked to the core.

How did the wolves get to her so fast?

Could they have passed another direction?

But then, it hit her like a plague.

She suddenly realized that wolves have magnificent keen sense of smell. The wolves must have picked up her scent when she had stopped earlier and they had probably traced her using her scent.

How stupid can she be!

Linda observed her surroundings and she noticed she was well surrounded by the wolves and there seemed to be no way she could escape them.

Her eyes trailed apart from the wolves that were approaching her from each sides as if she was a prey.

Her eyes fell on the baby in her arms and for some reason (maybe seeing how handsome and cute the baby is), she decided she would protect the baby with her life.

But maybe not her life, because she wasn't ready to die.

But who would save her from this tragedy she had found herself in?

Maybe, if she had stayed put and gathered the firewoods and left for home, she would have encountered these wolves.

Or maybe, if she had not heard the cries of this mysterious beautiful baby, she wouldn't have found herself in this predicament.

But that would mean that she wouldn't get to meet the baby in the first place.

But either way, she gathered courage and decided to deal with the wolves by standing up on her feet and showing them who is boss.

Her eyes moved through the wolves approaching from all sides.

Some were snarling angrily at her while some barked at her.

Linda was able to count the number of wolves that surrounded her and they seemed to be a pack, a whole pack of wolves.

They were numbering about fifteen wolves.

Would she be able to escape alive with the baby?

Nevertheless, she was going to try her best.

They're just fifteen dumb wolves and she was sure she could handle them.

"I will protect you my child and I will not allow these wolves to get to you and me. Not after becoming a new mother by adopting you".

Linda said to the baby, ready to wield her air elemental magic.
