Chapter 280 - Chapter 280: What Kind of Wolfish Words Are These!?

Late at night, Yunhai Academy.

Yang Yunhai bid farewell to Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan, then left with Dugu Bo, flying toward the royal city. With Qian Renxue due within the month, her delivery could come at any time after half a month. As her husband, he had to be by her side.

The November night sky was pitch black, without moonlight. Borrowing the cover of night, the two quickly slipped into the capital.

"Greetings, Grandfather"

"Dugu Bo greets the Grand Worship."

After landing and walking into the chamber, they both saluted Qian Daoliu.

"Mm." Qian Daoliu nodded slightly.

"Since I've delivered Xiao Hai, I should return now." Dugu Bo followed up, excusing himself before leaving.

"Xue'er." Yang Yunhai strode to sit beside Qian Renxue, who greeted him with a warm smile, and they began to chat softly.

Seeing his granddaughter's radiant expression, Qian Daoliu also smiled. For him, this was the happiest he'd seen her since childhood.

Soon, night deepened.

Yang Yunhai supported Qian Renxue into their room and helped her sit on the bed. With a swipe of his hand, a small razor appeared. Nearing childbirth, certain unnecessary hairs needed to be trimmed.

Qian Renxue's cheeks instantly flushed scarlet, yet she obediently shifted her legs to cooperate.

"Ugh!" In her spiritual sea, Qian Muxue spat lightly and turned her head away.

Before long, the matter was finished. After tidying up, Yang Yunhai helped Qian Renxue lie down and whispered comforting words until she fell asleep. Then he sat at the side bed, closed his eyes, and cultivated. Some time later, he lay down to rest.

The night passed without incident. The next day, Yang Yunhai became a domestic caretaker.

Although this delayed cultivation somewhat, he felt it was worth it in such an important stage of life.

Half a month later, Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan moved into the Eastern Palace under the excuse of helping and keeping company. As for why "Yang Yunhai" wasn't present—well, with Qian Renxue so close to giving birth, it was unsuitable for a man to linger constantly. Emperor Xue Ye understood and welcomed the two ladies warmly.

Even the stand-in Xue Qinghe began showing signs of distraction, like a man about to become a father.

Seeing this, Xue Ye—though in poor health—granted him leave. He even arranged for the Queen to stay by the "daughter-in-law's" side while he himself focused on governance.

Because they lived separately, the two groups never ran into each other.

Time ticked by until twenty days later.

Since the "Crown Princess" was expected to give birth first, to keep the plan seamless, Yang Yunhai and Chrysanthemum Douluo had specially prepared an herbal tonic that would safely delay labor. It caused no harm and even nourished the fetus, ensuring healthier children—a little "reward" for the Crown Princess.

Naturally, the Crown Princess was pleased—what mother wouldn't want her child born stronger?

Even the stand-in Xue Qinghe was grateful, thanking them sincerely.

Truthfully, when Lord Qian Renxue had arranged for his own girlfriend to pose as the Crown Princess alongside him, he had been overjoyed. At least his childhood sweetheart was with him during this mission. Yet, who could have imagined that only days later, the Lady herself became pregnant too?

Thus, on one fateful night—while the Queen, exhausted from looking after her "daughter-in-law," slept early—the two births took place. In one chamber, the Crown Princess delivered; in the secret chamber, Qian Renxue gave birth. The children came almost simultaneously.

"Congratulations, it's a healthy boy!" came the call, and the stand-in Xue Qinghe beamed with joy.

"Congratulations, my lord!" In the secret room, Yang Yunhai and Qian Daoliu wore matching smiles. Mother and children safe—Qian Renxue had given birth to a pair of twins, one boy and one girl.

Moments later, they hurried into the secret chamber at the midwife's call.

"Xue'er, you've worked hard." Yang Yunhai came to the bedside, his heart aching at the sight of Qian Renxue's sweat-soaked hair.

"It wasn't hard." Qian Renxue smiled faintly, lowering her gaze to the baby in her arms, her eyes brimming with tender affection.

Within her spiritual space, Qian Muxue's eyes glistened as well, shifting between the child and Yang Yunhai with a complicated expression.

From a certain perspective, this child was hers too.

On the other side, Qian Daoliu held the other baby, laughing heartily.

The real father, Yang Yunhai, didn't even get to hold one.

Zhu Zhuqing, Dugu Yan, and Yiner peeked from the side, maternal radiance filling their eyes.

"The children look so much like Brother Yun and Sister Xue'er," Dugu Yan said.

Both parents had golden hair, which the babies had perfectly inherited.

"Congratulations, my lord. I can sense immense vitality in your children—especially your son. His life energy is extraordinarily pure," said the Myriad Demon King, his voice resonating from the freed spiritual sea.

'So my son will grow up to be a nurturer, and my daughter a warrior?' Yang Yunhai mused silently.

Soon after, under Qian Renxue's reluctant gaze, the babies were swapped out—replaced by the Crown Princess's child outside.

"Don't worry, Xue'er. This is only for appearances. Tomorrow, you can be with them again." Yang Yunhai reassured softly.

"Mm." Qian Renxue nodded, lying down again with his help and closing her eyes to rest.

"Grandfather, I should return now. I'll come back in the morning." Yang Yunhai said to Qian Daoliu.

"Good." Qian Daoliu nodded.

With the "Crown Princess" giving birth, Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan staying in the Eastern Palace, it was natural for Xue Qinghe to invite his "good brother" Yang Yunhai to celebrate.

"Brother Yun, don't worry, we'll watch over things here." Dugu Yan said.

"Alright." Yang Yunhai nodded and left the chamber. Outside, he took off into the night sky.

The night passed quietly. The next morning, at Yunhai Academy, Eastern Palace guards arrived with an invitation.

Yang Yunhai and Dugu Bo accepted and rode a carriage to the palace.

"Brother Dugu, Nephew Yang," Emperor Xue Ye greeted them warmly upon arrival.

"Brother Xue, congratulations on the auspicious twins," Dugu Bo nodded, secretly finding Xue Ye pitiful—both grandchildren weren't his, yet he celebrated so happily.

"Congratulations, Your Majesty, Brother Qinghe," Yang Yunhai also offered.

Xue Qinghe smiled slightly, bowing politely. "Many thanks, Brother Yang, for all your care and medicines during this time."

"It was nothing," Yang Yunhai replied casually.

Then, out of nowhere, Xue Ye turned to Dugu Bo and said, "Brother Dugu, if your two nieces bear children one day, perhaps our families could even become in-laws."

'What!? What kind of wolfish words are these!?' Yang Yunhai's face twitched.

"It's still early," Dugu Bo answered calmly. "Xiao Hai is still young. He should focus on cultivation first."

Xue Ye nodded, letting the matter drop with a laugh. "Come, Brother Dugu, Nephew Yang, let's look at the children together."

He waved, signaling the Queen and handmaidens to bring over the babies.

"Excellent, excellent—sturdy little ones. Those herbs weren't wasted." Dugu Bo praised.

"The boy is named Qingchuan, the girl Xiyue," the Queen introduced with a smile.
