Chapter 78 - Chapter 78: Difficult to Handle

The three guards had never heard of Barak, but hearing Henry speak so earnestly, they couldn't help but believe him a little.

Moreover, his hands were empty and raised high, posing a very low threat.

One of the guards lowered his rifle and said, "The letter? Give it to me, and I'll deliver it."

"Alright, the letter is in my bosom," Henry said, slowly lowering his hands, but halfway down, he suddenly swung both hands, and two 15-centimeter-long skill Flying Daggers shot out, instantly covering six or seven meters and deeply embedding themselves in the throats of the two sentries who had their guns pointed at him.

Henry swung both hands again, each twice, and four skill Flying Daggers lightning-fast inserted themselves into the hearts of the two men and the throat and heart of the sentry who had asked for the letter.

Ignoring the three guards who fell to the ground, Henry dismounted, moved the barricades, and searched the three sentries for weapons and money pouches, taking everything.

Then he pulled out the six skill Flying Daggers, shook off the blood, put them into his space, and then threw the three bodies into the poplar grove beside the road.

Henry remounted and continued to advance slowly. After turning a few more corners, he found that the road ahead, about three hundred meters long, had doubled in width, and a gas lamp hung every thirty meters or so on both sides of the road.

On the road, besides two barricades in the middle, there were five sentries and a Gatling Machine Gun on a five-meter-high granite stone outpost at the end of the road.

There were also five sentries on the ground behind the barricades.

The long period without enemies had made these sentries a little lax; hearing the sound of hooves, they thought it was the sentry below delivering a letter.

Henry quickly dismounted, put the horse into his space, and a "Thousand-to-One" Winchester Rifle appeared out of thin air in his hand. He immediately shot at the machine gunner on the outpost.

The somewhat lax guards had just witnessed the strange sight of such a large horse suddenly disappearing, and for a moment, they were dumbfounded, immediately facing their doom.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

First, all five sentries on the outpost who hadn't hidden themselves well were shot and fell, three of the ones near the edge directly plunging headfirst from the guard post.

Next were the five sentries on the ground.

At this point, they finally came to their senses and also raised their rifles, firing at Henry.

But in their haste, and with the long distance, not a single bullet hit Henry. Instead, Henry knocked them all down with 5 bullets.

Henry quickly ran forward, pulled open one of the barricades, and spent nearly two minutes finally reaching the guard post, shooting two more rounds with his pistol at the two who were still struggling and groaning on the way.

A few meters behind the guard post was another bend. Henry's brow began to throb faintly before he even walked out of the bend. He immediately slowed his pace and cautiously peeked out half his head at the bend.

What met his eyes was a square over 50 meters wide and over 200 meters long. On the other side of the square was a huge Ireland-style manor, with the same three-meter-high dry stone walls and Gothic Ireland architecture. The manor's main gate, large enough for ten riders to enter and exit simultaneously, was tightly shut.

Ten guards were patrolling in front of the gate.

Like Dwyer Manor, the left side of the square was a cliff, and the right end was a precipice. Forty-odd gas lamps hung on both sides and in the middle of the road, illuminating the square so brightly it was almost like daylight.

The difference was that besides the two Gatling Machine Guns set up on the two ten-meter-high watchtowers at the main gate, two Gatling Machine Guns were also set up in the middle of both sides of the square.

At this moment, these guards and sentries held their rifles level or had their machine guns activated, vigilantly staring at this intersection.

This was a bit insane.

Henry judged that if he dared to go out and extinguish the gas lamps, he would immediately face an encirclement by four Gatling Machine Guns and the attack of ten guards.

And there were so many gas lamps, difficult to handle!

Even if Henry's shots never missed, it would take him 20-30 seconds to extinguish forty-odd lamps.

Even the civilian versions of the four Gatling Machine Guns could spray 400 bullets. If about 15% of them hit Henry, they could almost empty his current release bead shells.

Not to mention, the ten gate guards could still fire about 300 shots. Even a 10% hit rate could put Henry in great danger.

Even with the granite stone as an obstacle, there would be considerable danger, so he couldn't be reckless like this; the risk was too high and the reward too low.

Even extinguishing the lights might not be very useful. Given how well-prepared this manor was, it likely had flares. If Henry charged then, he would become a living target.

Henry walked back near the guard post, collected the eight sentry bodies, then returned to the corner, put on his mask, and took out one of the bodies to throw it behind the corner.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

"Ta-da-da!"

The sound of continuous rifle fire and machine guns spitting out bullets rang out.

After half a minute, the gunfire stopped. Henry immediately threw out another body, and the gunfire immediately resumed frantically, tearing the two bodies apart, splattering blood and flesh, and raising dense dust from the ground.

When the gunfire stopped, Henry threw out another body. This time the gunfire was not as dense, likely because some guards realized they were being tricked.

Henry also heard their curses and the shouts of their leader.

Henry threw out another body. This time, the machine guns were silent; only the rifles fired a few shots.

Henry immediately exposed half his body and fired four shots with his rifle at the gate guards in just two seconds, knocking down four of them. This time was too tight for him to aim for headshots.

Sometimes, heavily wounded enemy comrades can create greater psychological pressure for the enemy.

Then Henry immediately retreated behind the corner.

"Ta-da-da!" The rapid sound of the machine gun rang out, causing rocks at the corner to shatter and fly.

When the machine gun sound stopped, Henry threw out another sentry's body, which immediately caused the machine gun sound to resume rapidly.

However, the machine gunner quickly realized he was being tricked and stopped firing.

Henry immediately flashed out half his body again and fired four shots. This time, he only knocked down two of the guards at the gate, as most of them were hiding behind cover.

Then Henry hid behind the corner and reloaded his "Thousand-to-One" Winchester Rifle.

Meanwhile, Qi An, the guard commander thirty-plus meters behind the manor gate, ordered 30 cavalry to quickly mount their horses, and another 50 gunmen to ambush behind the stone walls on both sides of the manor gate, awaiting the opportune moment.

The situation was unclear. Qi An worried that the opponent had a large force ambushing behind the corner; otherwise, ten sentries wouldn't have been eliminated so quickly, with no chance for the Gatling Machine Gun to even activate.

After this machine gun counterattack, Henry threw out another body and found that the machine gun didn't fire. He immediately leaped out from the corner, raised his rifle, and aimed at the machine gunner on the watchtower approximately 120 meters away on the right side of the road, firing.

At this distance, if Henry aimed, his shots were infallible. The bullet accurately entered the machine gunner's eye, causing a spray of blood from the back of his head as he fell backward. Then, he targeted the machine gunner on the watchtower about 110 meters to the left.

The two shots fired in three seconds successfully took out two machine gunners. At this moment, the two machine guns at the manor gate furiously spat out flames, and bullets rained down on Henry like a downpour.

However, these bullets would still take 0.6 seconds to arrive, which was enough time for Henry, whose agility far surpassed ordinary people, to run back behind the corner. Thus, these bullets could only futilely hit the muddy ground and the trees behind him, stirring up a "whooshing" sound.
