"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 234: Crown of the Young Generation
After half a month apart, the peerage had so much to share that everyone crowded into Draconis Yi's room for a night of laughter and stories. Even after recounting their training, no one wanted the evening to end. They drifted off to sleep, still buzzing with anticipation for tomorrow.
The big day had arrived—a gathering everyone had been waiting for. Not only would the heads of major factions attend, but the most promising young devils from across the Underworld would be there too.
Draconis Yi had heard rumors about this event back in the human world. Now, finally, he was about to see it for himself.
After breakfast and farewells to Rias's mother and nephew, Draconis Yi boarded a private train with Rias and the others, heading for the heart of the Maou's territory.
The station and platform looked surprisingly modern—so much of human technology and culture had seeped into the Underworld. On the train, everyone changed into formal attire.
When Rias emerged, Draconis Yi couldn't help raising an eyebrow. Her long red hair was pulled into a high ponytail, baring her elegant neck and flawless features. The backless crimson gown hugged her curves, and black heels gave her an air of regal command.
"Pretty?" Rias spun, letting her dress catch the light.
"Very," Draconis Yi replied with a soft smile. In his own tailored suit, he matched her perfectly—two pieces of a royal portrait.
The whole group had dressed to impress.
After nearly three hours, the train pulled into Lucifaad—the city once ruled by the original Maou Lucifer.
"This is Lucifaad, capital of the Maou's domain," Rias explained, her smile tinged with pride.
Draconis Yi recalled his studies: this city had been the seat of power for the old Lucifer himself.
Suddenly, excited cries rang out from the crowd. All around, female devils gazed at Rias with open adoration.
As the Maou's sister and a peerless beauty, Rias carried her title like a crown. Her fame stretched far beyond Kuoh Academy—she was the standard of elegance for the entire Underworld.
Male devils admired her just as much, but few dared meet her eyes. Status kept them at arm's length.
Rias handled the attention with practiced grace, offering gentle smiles even as the intensity of their stares made her uneasy.
Her allure was undeniable.
"Stay close," Rias instructed, voice sharpening. "Whatever you see, keep your composure. No fighting. Most people here are our rivals, but don't give anyone a reason to look down on us."
She strode toward the elevator, her presence commanding. Draconis Yi and Akeno exchanged glances, then followed with quiet confidence.
The elevator descended, doors sliding open to reveal a bowing servant.
"Welcome, Lady Gremory. This way, please."
The underground hall was ablaze with light, filled with the soft hum of conversation. As Rias entered, heads turned, eyes widening.
"Princess Rias… she's more beautiful than ever…"
"Yeah, she's absolutely stunning…"
Unlike the devils outside, those present here were bolder—every guest was someone of status.
Then, someone's gaze landed on Draconis Yi, walking calmly at Rias's side. Brows furrowed.
"…Who is that guy?"
Draconis Yi's presence was impossible to ignore, especially with Rias on his arm. Speculation rippled through the crowd.
"No idea… Is he some new prodigy from another family?"
Heads shook. Most had heard the name Draconis Yi, but few had ever seen him in person—and his aura was different now, more refined, harder to place.
Rias overheard the whispers and, with a sly smile, slipped her arm through Draconis Yi's.
Instantly, the room fell silent.
Draconis Yi caught the shift, glanced at Rias—she kept her eyes forward, but the curve of her lips betrayed her satisfaction.
He let her have her moment. These devils were nothing he needed to worry about.
As Rias and her entourage moved on, the crowd erupted in hushed debate.
"Who is that kid? Why is Princess Rias so close to him?"
Jealousy simmered beneath the words. Ever since Rias had used the Rating Game to cancel her engagement, the younger generation had been restless.
Even after rumors spread that Rias had a crush, seeing her up close made hearts flutter all over again.
"I think I know… Isn't he the legendary member of Princess Rias's peerage?"
Recognition dawned. Teeth clenched.
"What? You mean the one who got a Holy Sword from the Maou?"
"Him? That guy actually beat a high-class devil and got called the new leader of the young generation?"
"Heh… The real top dog, Sairaorg, is here too. Maybe we'll get a show."
The crowd hurried toward the main hall, eager for drama.
Up ahead, a figure approached—a man with cropped black hair and a build like a fortress. His casual clothes clashed with the sea of formal wear.
A fighter, through and through.
"Sairaorg," Rias greeted.
"Rias? Long time no see," Sairaorg replied, shaking her hand with a warm smile.
A group of devils trailed behind him—his own peerage, no doubt. Sairaorg was at least a high-class devil.
"Good to see you again," Rias said, introducing him to the others. "This is Sairaorg, my maternal cousin."
Sairaorg's gaze settled on Draconis Yi, curiosity flickering.
"I'm Sairaorg Bael, heir to the Bael clan."
He studied Draconis Yi intently. Despite his own monstrous strength, he couldn't sense a scrap of power from Draconis Yi—yet something about him felt dangerous.
It was unsettling.
Across the hall, onlookers watched with barely concealed excitement.
Maybe, just maybe, sparks would fly tonight…
