Chapter 8 - Final conclusion

I was chilling around in the attic, reading the engineering book that made my dead brain hurt but I keep on reminding myself that if I can't go to college than at least I can study it, even when I am on the verge of throwing the book across the room, such kind of stupid thought's come and I end up reading the book.

At least it helped me keep those depressing thoughts away as I read the book. I sighed in absolute boredom as I continued reading the source of the boredom. I thought my brain would be dead as I was just a mere soul but this made a dead-brain hurt. As I continued reading, Yuki came out of nowhere, by nowhere; I meant nowhere, she literally came from below the floor, in front of me. I blinked a few times processing what happened (I am a slow reactor after all)

"THE FUCK! YUKI!?" I yelled as I fully processed what happened. "Gosh; you are such a slow reactor" Yuki told as she made her entire body come to the attic (It was her head that popped out of nowhere)

"Of course, I am! You already know that" I answered back immediately and Yuki giggled at my answer, she found it funny. Of course she did. She always used to enjoy scaring me and my reaction to it. I sighed; these habits never change of hers. "Why are you here though" I asked "You have something to tell or have something that needs to be done?" the only reason she came to the attic was to read the 'burrowed' book or to tell me something. She nodded before answering back, "I finally reached the conclusion of the 'investigation' in 1 and a half week. Can you believe it!?" she told, it was as clear as the sky that she was happy. I had almost forgotten about the family as I was engrossed in studying that book related to civil engineering. My head still feels like it got hit 20 times in the wall so badly that it started bleeding.

"And the best part is that we can live as actual living beings!" that caught all my attention as I looked at her, my eyes had widen in disbelief.

Did she just say we can be actual living beings, not just immortal beings who are stuck here, that have no reason to even be here; no grudge or vengeance, just floating around in peace and not harming anyone and just letting it flow. As if Yuki read my mind or perhaps my expression was clear enough, she nodded and answered in a joyful way.

"You heard me! We can live, live as actual living beings that aren't immortal" I could hardly believe it as I asked, "How…explain it to me first of all; If you're planning to possess a body, I am not in." Yuki frowned a bit at that.

"That was the plan; why can't it work?" She asked as she pouted slightly. I sighed, "That body has a soul and we can't just take control of the body which has a soul" I replied back, it's true though, 2 souls in a body? An absolute nightmare for the victim (The person that gets possessed); I looked at Yuki and her mood already had been lifted, huh? What had I said that her frown take turn and become a bright smile. "What if the body has no soul?" She told a body with no soul? Wait, what? –

"Did you seriously thought of possessing a body with no soul?! That's a goddam corpse!" I told in an exasperated, how we can possess a corpse when we haven't even possessed a thing for the past 4 years. "What if the person just died? A fresh corpse and it would also be confusing if the heart beat stopped and back to normal" Yuki told and I ended up rethinking it.

A corpse doesn't have a soul but if it does, wouldn't the person be alive but with a different soul? If that's only possible but guess I'll give it a shot. I looked back at her and told "Fine, tell me about it" I was curious now, what did this kid find now? "Of course, I'll tell! Remember the 2 daughters in coma?" Yuki started telling and I nodded in response. "They are on the verge on death, I know that because of the 'ghostly powers' It's the truth and listen, their body is becoming colder slowly." She continued telling and I was so engrossed in it that I had no thoughts at all.

As she told more, it was more clear, the sisters who are in coma are at the verge of death of the symptom's aren't clear to normal beings, even the nurse with that extraordinary senses. Yuki had even collected information on their health and all that; it seemed they have that one amnesia that makes you forget your past but she didn't remember the name. She even went through their personalities, favorites, their dislikes, the way they talk, their habits and so on

. It was interesting; extremely interesting…their personalities matched ours. I talked pretty calmly but can be very expressive when I want to or end up subconsciously reacting to things like sudden appearances or noises but so does she expect for the fact that she is a fast reactor unlike me; again, I am a foodie but I dislike bitter food which is normal as she also has the same issue with bitter food.

Dislikes? Unnecessary arguments, insects and betrayal; she seemed to lack the idea of betrayal. Honestly, can't blame her, not everyone goes through the same things. The same goes for Yuki, her personality literally screamed sunshine and the way she talked was so innocent like she was never killed- oh yeah…there's a difference, they lived happily, their own parents didn't kill them, didn't bury them but that's all in the past, right?

But the harm is still intact. Just like some wounds, they heal but the mark stays, in your mind and body. Back to the thing, she didn't remember the names due to them having amnesia, it would be normal for them to not remember a thing after all. She mentioned that one of them, the oldest had an illness of sorts and the treatment? It was quite expensive (The family must be rich) and since the treatment required medicines later on, the parents ended up using the syringe to transfer the medicine, the fact that things like those exist is truly quite fascinating or perhaps, extraordinary. The medicines that ended this weekend, Sunday and it seemed like she didn't need it anymore.
