Over seven thousand javelins shot from all directions—up, down, left, right, front, and back—a full-on assault that left Luke with no angle to dodge.
He had to admit, this "Myriad Spears Return to Origin" move was truly spectacular.
"Spectacular it may be, but it's utterly useless."
Luke shook his head, completely unimpressed. For ants to kill an elephant, they first needed to break through its defense. If they couldn't even breach the outer layer, a hundred million ants would be worthless.
Kinetic Field activated!
Light surged across the armor's surface, and energy expanded outward, forming a blue energy shield.
Luke's feet emitted energy streams, and he flew towards Carol at full speed. As for the surrounding javelins, he didn't even spare them a glance. The purple javelins' speed and destructive power were comparable to armor-piercing rounds, but that was all they were.
Ghost One's shield was modified by Luke based on Kryptonian spacecraft defense systems. If it couldn't even block Earth's armor-piercing rounds, then Krypton's tens of thousands of years of development would be a joke.
The black armor brutally tore through the sky full of javelins. As the distance rapidly closed, Carol had no choice but to abandon the idea of controlling the javelins. Her fingers moved, and a several-meter-thick wall appeared in front of her.
"Break!"
Luke roared, his right hand crackling with electricity, and he punched the wall.
Boom!
Large cracks appeared on the wall, and then it exploded into countless fragments as if hit by a cannonball. The black armor burst through the debris, its emanating aura causing Carol's breathing to hitch.
Without time to think, she quickly waved her arm, and dozens of purple chains shot towards the armor, only to be repelled by the surface shield before they even got close.
Luke shook his head speechlessly.
"This girl has too little combat experience, she's even worse than a rookie. She clearly has the ability to materialize objects, but she doesn't know how to use it, only resorting to the simplest combat methods."
The distance between them rapidly closed. Carol finally panicked. With a thought, purple armor, identical to Ghost One, appeared on her body.
However, one was black with blue light shimmering on its limbs; the other was absolutely purple, purely purple!
Seeing this, Luke almost slammed on the brakes.
Are you kidding me?!
Even if it's plagiarism, you don't need a live version! Besides, what use is this thing besides being a turtle shell?
Carol's cheeks flushed slightly, realizing the impropriety, but she feigned arrogance and tilted her head up. "So I pirated it, what can you do?"
In the nearby woods, the mysterious woman who had been observing the battle couldn't bear to watch any longer. Her Majesty's embarrassing performance made her cringe.
"Your Majesty, the Star Sapphire will grant you the ability to manipulate emotions. Feel with your heart, and discern the voices that appear in your mind."
"Those voices come from the whispers of the soul, they are the most genuine emotions. Listen to them, and then manipulate them, you will gain extraordinary insights."
The mysterious woman and Carol were several kilometers apart, yet her voice clearly appeared in Carol's mind.
This wasn't the first time this had happened.
Carol was used to it. After a moment of silence, she dispelled her protective armor. Jet thrusters appeared on her back, and while dodging Luke, she tried to tap into her inner power as the mysterious woman had instructed.
As her consciousness focused, soon, some strange sounds appeared in her mind.
All sorts of tones, expressing different emotions—joy, anger, sorrow, happiness, love, hate, passion, revenge. The sounds were chaotic and jumbled, yet they didn't lose order. Instead, they were arranged in a unique way, and with careful attention, she could clearly feel the emotion contained in each whisper, and even modify them.
"Is this emotional manipulation?"
Carol murmured to herself, her eyes instantly brightening.
She had finally found a way to defeat her opponent.
"Damn Luke! You like to cheat, don't you?! Fine, I'll turn you into a stud pig who only likes sow butts, throw you into a pigsty, and let you have your fill!"
Carol's eyes gleamed as she stared intently at the black armor in front of her, trying to feel the emotional fluctuations within. Then, a grand world suddenly appeared before her eyes. Under a boundless dark sky, green flames burned everywhere, like the spectral fires of the endless abyss. Countless souls struggled and howled in the flames, slowly dissolving, turning into fuel, and erupting into new fires.
This world had no light, only despair, fear, and wailing. Scene after scene of terrifying images converged, becoming a heavy hammer that struck the girl's heart fiercely.
With a cry, she rolled her eyes back and fainted, her body plummeting straight down into the grass.
Luke: "..."
I haven't even put in any effort, and you're already down?
"Ava, what's going on?"
"Sorry, no abnormal vital signs were detected."
"You mean she's faking it?"
"Unclear, unable to deduce."
Luke frowned slightly. After some thought, he landed beside Carol. After a careful check, he found that she was genuinely unconscious, his expression unmasking his confusion.
"She was fine a moment ago, how did she faint in the blink of an eye? I haven't heard of her having anemia."
He thought it over and over, couldn't find an answer, and could only give up. He picked up Carol and ascended into the air, disappearing into the night sky.
A moment later, the mysterious woman appeared at the bottom of the hill, looking at the distant disappearing streaking light, her eyes filled with deep puzzlement.
"How could she faint? There's no reason!"
...Inside a villa in the suburbs of Coast City, Luke placed the unconscious girl on the sofa and simultaneously said,
"Ava, what's her physical condition?"
"Everything is normal, very healthy."
"And her brainwaves?"
"Disordered, with extreme fluctuations. Cannot rule out mental stress or mental illness."
"Can you get a specific result?"
"Mental illness encompasses too many types, it's impossible to deduce the pathological cause based on disordered brainwaves."
"That's troublesome then."
Luke exited the Ghost armor and approached the girl. He glanced at her sexy, fiery body, his lower abdomen feeling a little warm.
Carol, being an athlete, already had a good physique. Dressed in the Star Sapphire uniform, it accentuated her best features to the extreme. What should be large was large, what should be tight was tight, her curves distinct and well-proportioned.
"This outfit is simply tailor-made for you." After saying that, he sighed slightly, "The problem is, what should I do with you?"
In the comics, it was said that after the Star Sapphire was defeated by the Green Lantern, the Star Sapphire crystal automatically severed its symbiotic relationship with Carol Ferris. But here with Luke, things had changed.
The girl had fallen unconscious, which logically meant she had failed, but the Star Sapphire crystal had not left her body as expected.
This was very troublesome. If she woke up in this state, in a fit of rage, it would be another battle.
Luke didn't want to fight her. Even if she became the Star Sapphire, he couldn't bring himself to attack her; otherwise, with Ghost One's firepower configuration, he would have blasted her down long ago.
Perhaps he could try the Green Flame!
He thought about it, then shook his head. The Green Flame was too overbearing; one wrong move could cause irreparable damage to her soul.
Forget it, he'd wait until she woke up. At worst, they'd fight again.
