Chapter 137 - Chapter 137: The City of Fun Incident (Part 2)

Dozens of purple javelins sliced through the air, one after another, in an endless barrage.

With a tremendous roar, the second floor collapsed.

The javelins pierced through walls and floors, embedding deeply into the ground like the quills of a porcupine. Amidst the rising dust, the area where Luke was, along with the entire third floor, was reduced to rubble.

Seeing this, the nightclub manager, who was on the phone, was instantly dumbfounded. With a look of horror, he prayed to Jesus with all the luck of his ancestors that Young Master Xiao would be alright, otherwise, he would be finished.

The Star Sapphire's outburst intensified the chaos in the hall. The girls who had initially wanted to observe the situation were forced to join the fleeing crowd. Gossip was good, but it wasn't worth losing their lives over.

Fortunately, the doors of the City of Pleasure were wide enough, otherwise, a stampede would surely have occurred.

Inside the ruins, Luke, wearing the Ghost No. 2 suit, pushed away the rubble on him, his face grim as he stared at the Star Sapphire in mid-air.

This woman was serious! Even if it was love turned to hate, she shouldn't be so ruthless!

"Ava, how much longer?"

"One minute and thirty-five seconds. I suggest you go outside. Fighting here might expose your identity."

"Help me plan an escape route."

"The fastest route is right behind you. Three javelins have pierced through the wall. You only need to punch gently in the center to open the wall."

Luke turned and ran back. Seeing the three javelins Ava mentioned, he delivered a flying kick, and with a boom, a large hole appeared in the cracked wall. The cracks rapidly expanded, and the entire wall collapsed.

The wall seemed to be made of foam.

Luke glanced at the stone dust on the ground, cursed the unscrupulous merchant, and then rushed out of the hole, sprinting westward along the road without looking back.

The Star Sapphire followed close behind, her fingers moving, continuously firing purple javelins that left craters, large and small, on the road.

At a nearby intersection, a woman dressed in peculiar clothes with a crescent moon tattoo on her forehead watched the battle scene ahead with an expressionless face.

The woman's legs were off the ground, suspended among the crowd. What was strange was that passing pedestrians didn't notice her; even if they walked past her, they wouldn't turn their heads, as if she didn't exist.

Purple javelins crisscrossed with powerful force, capable of piercing through even concrete roads with a single strike. Yet, the woman shook her head, her brow furrowed with dissatisfaction.

"Her Majesty is too rusty; she doesn't know how to wield the power of the Star Sapphire at all."

"That man is also very interesting, actually possessing close-fitting battle armor forged with mass-energy conversion technology. However, even with the armor, he won't last long."

"Your Majesty! Kill him, kill the one you love, show no mercy. Only then can you become our King."

"Kings do not need emotions!"

...Beach City's nightlife ranks first in America.

Even at ten o'clock at night, the streets on both sides were still bustling with lights and revelry. Luke didn't want to cause too much of a stir, so he had to expend energy to activate stealth mode.

However, this visual disappearance had no effect on the Star Sapphire. Thus, car drivers and passersby enjoying the nightlife witnessed a very strange scene: a scantily clad, sexy woman flying in mid-air,

her hands raised, continuously shooting purple javelins at the empty ground.

After a while, questions couldn't help but arise in everyone's minds: Is this woman from a mental institution?

After taking dozens of javelin hits, the battle armor simulated the javelins' flight speed and firing angle, and based on this, it constructed nearly perfect evasive maneuvers.

As a result, the purple javelins that had made Luke flustered became mere decorations; he knew how to dodge them even with his eyes closed.

Moreover, he also discovered some strange things. From beginning to end, "Carol" hadn't said a single word, which made no sense. They had been together for over three years, sleeping in the same bed not a hundred times, but at least eighty. Even a day of marriage brings a hundred days of kindness, let alone thousands of days! Even if she resented his infidelity and wanted to kill him to vent her anger, she shouldn't say nothing at all.

Besides this, there was her attack method. The essence of the Star Sapphire was similar to that of a power ring, even slightly stronger. Different colored power rings granted users different abilities, but six were universal: flight, regeneration, energy manipulation, force field protection, psychic protection, and energy construct solid attacks.

Logically, Carol, possessing the Star Sapphire, should have thousands of attack methods, yet she only used javelin throws from beginning to end. Of course, it might be related to her being a javelin thrower in school, but even so, she shouldn't repeatedly use only this one move!

The more Luke thought about it, the more he felt something was wrong. He said in a deep voice,

"I want a close-up of her face."

Soon, a short video recording Carol's facial features appeared on the internal screen. The video was only fifteen seconds long. In those fifteen seconds, that beautiful face showed no emotion other than cold indifference, like a Terminator executing a kill order.

Luke clenched his fists, his eyes as cold as ice.

Manipulating my woman to kill me!

Very good!

Truly good!

Killing intent boiled within him, yet his expression grew even calmer.

"Ava, search within a radius of fifteen hundred meters around me for all suspicious targets, especially fast-moving individuals."

"Understood, Young Master."

"Twenty more seconds, and Ghost No. 1 will arrive. I suggest you find a hidden place."

The coordinates of Ghost No. 1 appeared on the internal screen, fifteen miles to the southwest.

Luke felt a little relieved. He scanned his surroundings and found an alley filled with trash. He quickly rushed in. The alley was quiet, a stark contrast to the noisy street. Besides a few stray cats foraging, there were no other living creatures.

Luke stopped deep in the alley, turned, and looked up, directly at the Star Sapphire that had followed him.

The Star Sapphire raised her hand, and two javelins shot out, which Luke dodged by moving sideways. Looking at the purple javelins so close, he couldn't help but laugh,

"Years have passed, and you still haven't changed at all. You only pursue distance, never caring about accuracy."

"Carol" remained silent, her eyes extremely cold, without the slightest fluctuation. She raised her right hand high, purple light flickering, and hundreds of javelins, dense and numerous, floated behind her.

There were simply too many javelins, blocking the entire alley.

Quantity causes qualitative change. If this volley came down, let alone a person, even a fly would be riddled like a honeycomb.

Luke's mouth twitched violently, his expression filled with helplessness,

"Stop it, alright? If this continues, people will die. Even if you hate me, you shouldn't disregard our past affection and watch me die right here."

A flicker of struggle crossed "Carol's" eyes, but the next second she regained her cold indifference. She pointed her index finger forward, and a hundred javelins shot out simultaneously, attacking from all directions, covering the entire alley.
