Dolan shook his head and said, "That's impossible, William.
The Garden doesn't just have the Knicks; it has other teams too.
If you only buy the Knicks, it might be possible, but if you want to package it, none of the Garden shareholders will agree."
William thought about it and secretly sighed in regret.
This year and next year were the best times to buy the Knicks.
Affected by the stock market crash, the Dolan family suffered heavy losses in the stock market, and their net worth had almost halved.
It was uncertain if they even had a net worth of 1.5 billion now.
Dolan indeed needed capital turnover, but the possibility of them selling all of the Knicks was too low.
Forget it, with that money, he might as well buy Chelsea.
He already owned 11% of Chelsea, and since he was English, even if he competed with Abramovich, he would definitely win.
"In that case, forget it.
Thank you for your hospitality, Dolan.
I'll think about it again and call you if I have a decision."
Dolan separated from William, feeling frustrated. He had been hoping to swindle a hundred or two hundred million dollars from this suddenly rich young man, but he hadn't expected William to have such a huge appetite.
He actually wanted to swallow their Dolan family's core business whole. God, are young people today so indifferent to money? He didn't even bat an eye at 1.5 billion dollars, which was more than his entire family's net worth.
If he were in charge, Dolan might really sell to William, even selling the Knicks would be fine. Perhaps he should go back and discuss it with his family, Dolan thought to himself.
William walked away on his own, but the surrounding guests watched his retreating figure in surprise. Who was this young man who could be personally greeted by Dolan with such a good attitude?
It was well known that Dolan wasn't an easy person to deal with; he drank, took drugs, and had a big mouth. New Yorkers didn't have a very friendly impression of Dolan. Anyone he received so formally, despite his bad temper, was definitely not an ordinary person. They needed to find out who this young man was.
When William walked into the arena, sat in the first row, and took off his hat, many people immediately recognized him. Wasn't that the new English super-rich person shown on TV today?
The TV said this young man was worth over 3 billion dollars, ranking him among the top 100 globally, and he was so young and handsome. Many actresses looked at William with shining eyes, constantly glancing at him. It would be foolish not to try and snag such a super-rich husband.
Barkley, who had just retired and become a TNT commentator, shouted into the microphone in surprise: "Wow, wow, look who it is! Quick, camera on the Knicks bench!"
When the camera focused on William, who was looking around at the court and players, the audience who had seen the news today immediately looked excitedly at the big screen, and shouts of William's name periodically erupted from the crowd.
William turned his head in surprise towards the audience shouting his name. He didn't yet know the camera was on him. The live audience burst into laughter at William's bewildered expression.
Barkley chuckled and teased his co-host: "It seems the enthusiasm of New York fans has startled our new billionaire. Alright, folks, be polite. Maybe our billionaire mister will treat you to burgers and cola."
William, alerted by a burly audience member next to him, realized he was on the big screen. He turned to look at the big screen, waved to the camera, and greeted the audience.
Hearing the audience shout for burgers and cola, he smiled and gave an 'OK' sign to the camera.
Seeing William's generosity, the audience applauded. Many girls shouted to William, "I love you, William!"
William signed a check for 100,000 dollars for the arena staff who came over. The staff showed the check to the camera before calling the fast-food restaurant.
There were 18,000 spectators on site today, and 100,000 dollars was enough for two rounds of burgers and cola. They all applauded William again. As the saying goes, 'those who take from others are indebted, and those who eat from others are soft-spoken.' Sounds of 'thank you' kept coming from the crowd.
William was also happy to spend a small amount of money to advertise himself in front of the American audience. However, the audience's praise for him annoyed the 'Madman' Latrell Sprewell. This guy cursed and, feigning an accidental slip, threw the basketball towards William.
Latrell Sprewell's anticipated outcome didn't happen. Who was William? He had a cheat! Amidst the exclamations of the live audience, he caught the flying basketball with one hand without even turning his head.
William held the basketball and looked at Latrell Sprewell. The guy showed no embarrassment on his face and even arrogantly shouted at William to pass the ball back to him.
The live audience was stunned by this brainless guy, Latrell Sprewell, who actually attacked a spectator. Did he not want to play anymore? This guy would definitely be suspended after the game.
William ignored Latrell Sprewell, bounced the basketball, and shot it towards the hoop on the Hawks' side.
Amidst the astonished gasps of nearly 20,000 people, the basketball went straight in with a 'swish'—a perfect swish.
Haha, William secretly rejoiced. Having a cheat was awesome! Bullseye's throwing ability was truly a divine skill for shooting, coupled with his strength, which was several times stronger than an ordinary person's.
He didn't even need to jump; standing still, he easily shot the basketball into the hoop. Big-mouthed Barkley repeatedly said, 'Unbelievable, that must be a fluke,' and loudly demanded William to do it again.
At this point, the audience, prompted by Barkley, also shouted loudly, 'Do it again!' An Atlanta Hawks player, also a showman, picked up the basketball and passed it to William when he heard the audience's request.
After William took the basketball, he shot it towards the hoop without any preparation. The basketball, just like the first time, went in with a perfect swish.
This immediately sent the live audience into a frenzy. Many people covered their hair with both hands, shouting, 'Unbelievable, this isn't real!' Some, disbelieving, shouted for another shot, convinced that William couldn't possibly be that good at shooting.
When it came to dribbling and crossovers, William was, of course, a rookie. But for this kind of stationary, undefended shot, he was confident that even if he shot a hundred times, he would make every one.
William, laughing, took the basketball amidst the audience's cheers and walked to the commentary table, signaling to Barkley that he wanted to speak.
Barkley truly had a talent for entertainment, no wonder his achievements as a commentator after retirement were no less than his playing career. He quickly stood up, smiling, and held the microphone towards William.
After William thanked Barkley, he spoke into the microphone: "Thank you all for your enthusiasm. How about we play a little game?"
Barkley didn't wait for the audience's response and immediately said into the microphone: "Of course, we welcome any interesting
games. It just depends on how you want to play. Audience friends, wouldn't you agree?"
"Of course!" The live audience immediately echoed Barkley's words. At this point, they didn't care if the game time was almost up. For something this fun, the New York audience would certainly agree.
William chuckled and said: "Alright, the game I want to play is this: I'll stand on the half-court line and shoot ten balls at the hoop. If I make them, you have to bow to me and shout 'Long live Devenhill!' If I miss, it's one Budweiser per missed shot—except for kids, of course. The children here will get a signed basketball from Barkley. How's that, Barkley, no problem?"
"Of course, no problem, not at all! What's a signature? Signatures and photos, let's do it all! What I care about is your Budweiser, William. I don't believe you can make all ten. Wouldn't you agree?" Barkley shouted to the audience. He was very enthusiastic about being in the spotlight.
The live audience: "That's right, we're waiting for your Budweiser!"
