Panicked, I called an emergency meeting at the safe house. Leo was for going to the police immediately. "We have the proof, JM! This is too big for us!"
"And tell them what?" I argued, my voice rising with fear and frustration. "That a ghost led us to it? They'll laugh us out of the station! And the Alcantaras probably own half the police force anyway!"
"So what, we just give it back?!" Leo shot back.
"No! We… we find a way to copy it. Leak it online anonymously."
We were yelling, the stress fracturing our alliance. We were just kids, in over our heads, and it was tearing us apart.
Luna watched us from the corner, her face a mask of anguish. "This is my fault," she whispered. "I never should have… I never meant for this…" The guilt was causing her to fade again, her form dissolving at the edges.
Seeing her distress silenced our argument. The divide between us was real, but our shared goal—to help Luna—was stronger. We couldn't fall apart. Not now.
