I never imagined a person could change so much in such a short time .
My father Chairwoman Dane , still looked like the bitter oldman that he used to be . But the shrouds of fear around him had almost evaporated.....I , on longer was trembling under his gaze .
He used to be wayyy bigger when he was trapping me under towels and shoving my face into water to suffocate me .
Now he looked like an ugly ,broken man ...I almost ridiculed myself that I let someone like him torture me for days.
" Here you are , how do you feel after ruining your father like this ?," he said . There was no food served on the table. I knew that he was here for the business.
" I have never felt so better ," I took the chair at the opposite side of him .
As he changed his position, I almost flinched . Even his small movements made me doubt my own confidence.
There were security with him today . I wondered how he kept paying them. The company was already drowning in debt . Now that Sunshine had stopped helping him , he should have moved to a gutter soon.
" I never thought that you will betray me like that !," he snapped ," Of all the time you suck on my wealth like a parasite , can't you be a little grateful? Do you understand that even the position of wife in that damn Anderson family would not be possible without me ?"
" I know ," I noded ," I know what you have done for me and I know what you have taken from me ."
" I GAVE YOU EVERYTHING! I GAVE YOU A LIFE THAT MOST PEOPLE WOULD DIE FOR ! ALL I HAVE EVER ASKED FOR IS YOUR OBEDIENCE," he stood up , shouting .
I could not help but curl into a smaller shape.
A small part inside my brain kept screaming -
' He is going to hurt me ! He is going to kill me today '
' SHUT UP ! SHUT UP !,' I scolded myself , inside my head .
I did not want to break down before him . I hide my trembling hands under the table ," Cut the nonsense, tell me why you called me ."
" Get a divorce," he sat down," Move back with your mother ."
" Why ? Is it because you can't get more money from Sunshine through me ?," I laughed out .
He did not enjoy my humour," The purpose of your marriage was that I would get financial help from Andersons . They went back on their words so the deal is broken."
I shook my head ," You are insane . The agreement was on primarily to help you to pay off your debt . They did . They also have been paying our employees. It had gone for four long years , yet , you still managed to get yourself into more debt . Are you into gambling?"
He paused and stared at me ,"I am your father . Why do you think that you have the right to question about my life ? "
" Why can't I ?," I asked ," I need to understand since you want me to be the scrap goat so you can get more financial help !"
His hand flew across the table , and he was grabbing my hair ," I gave birth to you ! Now be filal to your father and do what I say . I suppose neither you nor Andersons want the marriage to be exposed."
I tried to breath .
But it already felt like there was a towel on my face .
" Get your fucking hands off my wife or I will shoot you again ," a voice boomed across the room which was so cold that it sent a chill down my spine .
My father flinched , letting go of my hair .
The chair beside me moved .
" How.....," my father looked astonished ," When did you find us ?"
" I knew the location, it's just that it took time for me to arrive ."
I looked down .
I knew this voice more than my own .
And I would hate for him to see me like this . I tried to compose myself before I greeted him .
But when I looked up , he was already looking at me .
" This ," he offered me his handkerchief.
" Huh ?," I asked , puzzled .
" Your face ."
" Oh ."
I pressed the handkerchief on my face . Now I realised that sweat and tears were tickling down my neck . My whole face was a mess.
I had not been doing as well as I had thought. I had made a mess if myself. And now my husband had to see that .
" You called him ? I knew it !," my father snapped ," You ungrateful little bitch !"
There was no point in telling him that I had not called Liam at all . To my horror and my relief , he had somehow found out about it and followed me here .
I could have told him that I was doing pretty well by myself but that would be a big lie .
" If you need to talk , then you can talk to both of us ," his eyes that stared at my father showed no emotion at all . But his gaze made me feel like I was looking at a calm dead sea before a storm hit .
" Liam -"
"We had an agreement that you pay us and she will marry you !," my father cut me off ," But look at me now ! I have lost everything! It is better to divorce now . She is at the age that she can be married again ."
Liam laughed without humour," The audacity you have to talk about my wife like she is an instrument, Mr. Dane !"
" It's cause I own her , that's my daughter before she is your wife ," my father jeered at him .
" Oh , please , you are just doing all this drama cause of the court case ," even though my voice trembled , I could not just sit and take all that insults ," You...you are a coward . Do you think that doing all of this will let you gain anything in anyway ?"
" Oh yeah ? Then let the press hear about your marriage," my father smirked ," If you are not coming back to me then I can sink both the ships and we can all drown together."
The threat still hung like a knife between us .
There was no point in talking now . I knew how hard it was for Sunshine corporation with the return of Rupert Hunter.
" Liam ," I called his name gently ,"'Go back ...I will talk to my father ."
The worst outcome I had even thought would be that he would ask me to drop the court charges .
But now that I thought of it , he had been talking about my divorce the last time he took me home.
My father had already planned to take me away . And there was nothing for which he would stop now .
But if that was what it took to protect my husband, I could -
" Julia , go sit in the car ," Liam said.
I looked up at him .
What did he not understand here ?
" Liam -," I started .
" Please , you look tired," he did not look at me as he said .
It felt like he was giving me an order...and absolute order. For one , he would not take ' No ' for an answer .
" Julia ,go ," he said .
" Don't you dare to move from the seat ," my father hissed .
In truth , I , too , wanted to run away .
Shivering I stood up , fumbling with my purse .
A security of Sunshine corporation was waiting for me at the door . He helped me to the car .
That was where I lost my consciousness.
