I woke up on my bed with my phone ringing , calling me out of my dreams .
I picked up to hear Rain's rambling nonsense and Summer's hysteric sob .
" That bitch ! Let's go to the police !"
" That husband of yours , let's get him arrested to !"
" The audacity of that man and his side chick!"
I sighed . My head hurt too much for me to explain the whole story to them . Besides ...it was Liam's story .
I did not know if I had the right to openly talk about it to my friends .
" Liam ...he has been getting blackmailing threats from that actress ,"'I told them a white lie ," He finally told me few days ago ."
" Blackmailing how ? Wait , you mean Liam Anderson, son of chairwoman of Sunshine corporation is getting blackmailed ? How , how ? What's his lawyers doing ? "
I sat up on the bed ," It is just he has been through some shit in the past and Palmer keeps using them against him to make him date her ."
There was a silence at the other side of the phone and then Rain said ," There are more to this story , isn't it ?"
Darn , she always had a deep perspective of the situations around us .
" Kind of ," I felt bad about lying to them," But I don't know if he will be okay with me talking about it ?"
" Well , obviously he will not be ," Rain sounded worried ," If it was bad enough for Palmer to threaten him with it. But are you okay ?"
" Yeah , I have been doing better ," I was glad the topic had changed ," It had just been really hectic ."
" Great , I have some good news ! Will you be up to start the vedio shooting from today evening ?,"
I sat up straight on my bed ," Are you guys for real ? Did we get a studio permit ?"
" You will die in happiness when you see the dresses ," Rain squealed .
Bubbles of excited erupted from the pit of my stomach . I was almost jumping on the bed .
I was so immersed into the discussion, I did not even notice Liam coming , until he was sitting beside me and spilled his coffee on the shirt he was wearing , cause I was moving the bed too much .
" We will be also dressing up like sexy mermaids ," Rain giggled
The happiness was like an infection. Both of my friends were laughing and so was I . Even Liam who had no idea about what the topic was and had just spilled coffee on his shirt , he was looking at me smiling , waiting for me to spill the good news . For a second , I had forgotten about all my worries and felt like myself .
When they ended the call ,messages popped up in our group chat with pictures of the costumes we would get to wear .
Liam bent in look at it .
I turned away from him ," No peeking ."
" But I am your husband."
"No , leaking of any pictures is strictly prohibited."
Liam looked at me ,pouting . I laughed out . I could not just believe an adult man like him , was trying to act cute to get my attention.
Well , atleast , he was cute .
" Fine a little peak," I agreed ," But you can't look at it for more than ten seconds ."
" That's not fair ," he groaned , as I shoved my phone at him ," But which one are you wearing ?"
" That's a secret ," I snatched the phone away again.
" Hey, it has not been even ten seconds ."
Liam's phone started buzzing . He pulled it out from his pocket . His expression darkened in an instant ," Speaking of the devil ."
The caller ID showed Mira,with a heart sign after it . I knew that he had to do it incase Palmer checked his phone , but I was still uncomfortable with it .
In a second, his expression had become cold again . I brushed my fingers on his cheek to remind him that he was not alone in this anymore. I was with him .
He looked at me smiling ," I suppose I can't just dump her yet ."
" Give her the carrot , Liam ," I winked at him.
Mira called again . This time he picked up the call and put it on the speaker .
" Hey ," Mira greeted in a small voice ," I was just check on if you are doing okay ."
" I am fine ," Liam paused for a while ," I was going to contact you after getting the security footage but the camera there was broken . So I am looking for any other way so you can get a vedio of the room ."
Ofcourse the camera was broken . Liam , himself had paid the security of the building to remove the footage of that day and handsome bribe to the ones in the control room , so they could leave their boring job and go to Hawaii to open some restaurants.
" What - no , I did not call for you for the footage ," Mira said ," I already checked with some men there and they told me something about the circuit problems and -"
" You can't even have faith in me about checking the security footage ?," Liam's voice trembled ," You know Mira....maybe I am telling you the right thing . Maybe we should really take a break ."
" Liam , I did not mean it that way ," Palmer groaned at the other side of the phone .
" No , I can't go on like this . Mother is already upset about your scandals ."
" Why does your mother have to come between us ?"
" I can console my mother , Mira , but I can not deal with your jealousy ."
" Liam , please , don't be mad ," Palmer was trying to act cute now ," It's just that I love you too much ."
" I love you too but maybe you are doing this cause I will never be enough for you ."
" No , NO !," Mira hissed ," No , Liam , your mother or your friends - a-actually , nothing bothers me . I was just drunk yesterday. I love you the way you are ."
" But the way you keep acting -"
" Liam , just come to me apartment," Mira's voice became low and deep ," Let me show you how much I love you ."
Nausea rolled inside my stomach .
Before Liam could answer , I nibbled on his earlobe.
" Hey , stop ," Liam hissed at me , clearly annoyed that I was interrupting like this .
But I did not want him to go to her like this again.
" What is it ? What happened?," Mira asked from the other side of the call.
" It's just this cat that I have ," Liam grabbed the back of my neck . I smiled at him mischievously.
" You have a cat ?," Mira wondered ," Since when ?"
" It's my friend's cat ," Liam corrected ," But I have known it since my childhood so it feels like it's my cat too ."
" Oh ? Who is that friend ."
" You know -"
" Liam , have you seen my cat?," I asked loudly so Mira could hear my voice .
Liam pressed his lips and looked at me clearly done with me . I shrugged.
" A-are you with someone?," Mira asked . I was pretty sure that she could recognise my voice but did not dare to say it out loud .
" Yeah , I am at Autumn's apartment," Liam shrugged , since I had given up the cover , there was no point in hiding it now ," She got really sick and so I came to check on her ."
" Oh yeah ?," Mira's voice trembled ," Is she doing fine now? "
" Better than before ," Liam sighed ," But I don't know ."
" You know ...I can come and apologize to her ," she offered .
" Be sensible, Mira , do you think that she will want to see you now ?," Liam scolded her ," We are fortunate that she has not sued us ."
" Yeah ,yeah ," Mira sounded confused," There must be other people in the apartment, right ?"
" Yeah but her friends have just gone out , it's just me and her for a while ," Liam poured diesel on her already burning heart ," And her cat ."
I looked at Liam , smiling , I whisphered," Meow ."
" It's fine , it's fine ," Mira took in a shaky breath ," Liam, you need to know that I love you enough to trust you with everything."
" I love you too , Mira ," Liam told her sweetly ," I will call you when I get back ."
When he put off the phone , he looked at me and said ," You reckless woman ."
" Meow ," I said , laughing .
Liam grabbed my arm and with a single yank , he pulled me on his lap ," I need to teach you some manners ."
