Chapter 44 - [LOU] 44: The First Specter

Former Flower Pillar.

Kanae Kocho.

Her soul, all that remained, was chosen by the Evil Star, now being reborn.

Likewise.

Kanae Kocho was the first true Specter after Alistair became the Evil Star's lord.

What?

Those Specters from the last world?

They were random selections, fully controlled by the Evil Stars—more like puppets.

Such puppets.

As long as Alistair and the Evil Stars existed, he could have as many as needed.

No need to care about losses—upon death, they'd be absorbed to enhance the stars.

"Chosen by the Evil Star."

"It proves."

"She's nearly a perfect match for this star."

Pandora spoke softly, gazing at the girl sleeping within the dark purple cocoon.

"Earthly Demon Star: Babylon."

"Earthly Demon Star: Babylon?"

Chelsea and Mine.

Curiously approached, looking left and right.

Persephone had mentioned this star was a third-tier Evil Star.

A very special one.

"The Earthly Demon Star is inherently unique."

"If…"

"A normal human were chosen as a Specter."

"They couldn't fully unleash this star's power."

Pandora explained softly.

"Huh?"

Chelsea asked curiously, "Pandora, why? Why can't humans unleash its power?"

"On that point."

"The Earthly Demon Star is an evolving star."

"Babylon is a creature from the Underworld—a Nether Butterfly."

"Cocoon, larva, adult."

"Through this process, a perfect body is born."

"But…"

"If the Earthly Demon Star chose a human with a body, what then?"

Pandora explained to Chelsea and Mine, who watched curiously.

As for Sheele?

She stood behind Alistair like a loyal follower, occasionally looking at him as if he were her god.

Hm~~~

To be fair.

He was her god.

"Exactly why."

Pandora continued, "This girl, without a physical body, has a soul perfectly suited for the Earthly Demon Star. Through these three stages, she'll develop the most perfect body."

"I see!"

Chelsea and Mine understood.

Then…

As light bloomed, strands of dark purple radiance shone.

The giant cocoon shattered.

Kanae Kocho's soul flickered faintly, her heart glowing dark purple.

This showed.

She'd just broken free, still needing time to mature.

"Hm~~~"

Kanae Kocho slowly opened her eyes.

She scanned everyone, finally resting on Alistair.

Floating before him, she knelt on one knee, bowing. "Earthly Demon Star: Babylon, Kanae Kocho, greets Your Majesty!"

Alistair raised a hand, and Kanae stood.

He smiled. "No need for such formalities. Your body is still forming, and though your soul is stable, it's best not to appear in this form."

"As you command, Your Majesty."

Kanae transformed into a dark purple crystal orb, floating beside Alistair.

Alistair was pleased.

Hm!

This world's gains were already impressive.

Look.

Right upon arrival, a Specter and a nascent Hell.

Unimaginable rewards awaited!

Alistair reined in his thoughts, continuing, "Alright, Chelsea, Mine, Sheele…"

"Forget it."

He glanced at Sheele, trailing him step by step, shaking his head. "Chelsea, Mine, handle the Demon Slayer Corps. Just take their world energy. They're fighting for this world, so no need to kill them."

"Hee hee hee~~~"

Chelsea grinned. "As expected of Your Majesty, even as a god of darkness, you have a kind heart."

Smack!

Alistair tapped her head. "Chelsea, this is my world. They're working for my world—shouldn't they get some reward?"

"Hee hee hee~~~"

Chelsea giggled, pulling Mine along as they dashed off.

Pandora smiled, changing the topic. "Your Majesty, can Chelsea and Mine extract the world energy without harming them?"

Alistair nodded. "No issue. It's simple enough."

"Ker, go kill the Ghost King."

"As you command, Your Majesty!"

Ker bowed slightly, stepping out and vanishing instantly.

Alistair narrowed his eyes, calculating. "Per the original timeline, this is when Tanjiro's family is about to be slaughtered. Fine, call it a good deed."

"Really."

"A god of darkness doing good deeds out of nowhere."

Alistair couldn't help but mock himself.

Shouldn't a god of darkness be a demon king destroying worlds?

Why was he always doing good?

Pandora chuckled, covering her mouth. "Your Majesty, to build a Faith Nation, it's always like this, no matter the god."

"Whatever."

Alistair shook his head, too lazy to dwell.

Pointless.

As long as he was happy.

This time.

His plan was a multifaceted conquest, wasting no time, swiftly anchoring and handling this world.
