Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Stealing the Sky, Changing the Sun — Shisui’s Return

"Tonight, first-level alert."

"What's going on? Why are we on high alert?"

"Don't ask questions you shouldn't."

At the Anbu base, masked operatives began suiting up. The air grew tense, thick with unease.

Something wasn't right. Everyone could feel it.

"Everyone, move out! Set up a barrier around the Uchiha compound and establish a defensive perimeter. No one leaves. No movement escapes to the village. Understood?"

"Understood!"

At the Root base, Danzo gave his orders coldly. Shadows flickered as Root ninjas vanished into the night like ghosts.

"The annihilation of the Uchiha clan has been this old man's long-cherished wish. I will see it with my own eyes."

He paused, frowning.

"Kira from the Red Sun Society… all these years, and we still haven't uncovered his true identity. If he intervenes again…"

Danzo's expression darkened, hesitation flickering across his face.

Kira — that name haunted him. Even after years, the shadow that man cast hadn't faded. It had only grown heavier.

His gut told him someone was always watching — that if he ever slipped, a strike of thunderous fury would fall upon him, leaving nothing behind.

"Damn you, Kira… if I ever find out who you are…"

His curse echoed through the Root base, sharp and venomous.

After a long silence, a figure that looked exactly like Shimura Danzo walked out of the base. No one could tell whether it was the real one — or another puppet of his paranoia.

"Is it starting?"

Naruto stood in the shadows of the Uchiha compound, his presence almost ghostlike.

The signal from Itachi had arrived.

"Let's steal the sky itself…"

A shimmering projection of Red Sun Town appeared in his hand.

Within it, the lights were dimming as the town fell asleep. Only one house remained lit — Yakushi Nono's. Through the glowing image, she could be seen mending clothes for the orphans, her face calm and kind.

The once-spy now looked like a gentle grandmother.

Naruto smiled faintly.

He raised his hand and traced the air above the projection, creating a wide open space — perfectly matching the Uchiha clan's layout.

The projection expanded rapidly, growing until it covered the entire Uchiha district — the clan homes, the Police Force headquarters, everything.

Then, without a sound, it descended.

Day blurred into night.

Only Naruto noticed the strange wave of chakra that swept across the air — a flicker of warped space.

And then, in Red Sun Town, the empty land shimmered — and suddenly the entire Uchiha clan appeared there. Every person, every building, perfectly replicated.

Back in Konoha, nothing seemed different. The guards remained alert, the people slept soundly, unaware that their world had just been shifted elsewhere.

"What was that? Am I just imagining things?"

Somewhere in the void, the masked man — the one who called himself Madara — suddenly lifted his head. He sensed something… odd.

But when he looked again, everything appeared normal.

He frowned. "Maybe I'm overthinking it."

Red Sun Town.

Uchiha Itachi's clone stood before the relocated compound, eyes wide in disbelief as relief flooded through him.

They were safe. Every one of them.

He stepped into the familiar streets and stretched out his senses — yes, everyone was there.

A small, weary smile formed on his lips.

"Itachi…"

On a quiet street, Uchiha Fugaku stood waiting, eyes dim yet burning with conflict. His Sharingan spun into its Mangekyō form.

"Itachi, I once wanted you to see our clan's future. Is this what you're showing me now — a different fate?"

"Whose side are you on?"

Fugaku's voice trembled with both fury and grief.

Itachi smiled softly. "Yes, Father. I wanted you to see a new future — one completely different from the old."

Fugaku's anger flared, but before he could speak, Itachi's figure burst into a puff of white smoke.

"A shadow clone?" Fugaku froze, uncertain.

"Patriarch, something's wrong!"

Several figures appeared beside him, expressions shaken.

"What is it?"

"Our entire clan's land — the buildings, the Police Force headquarters — they've all been moved! We're no longer in Konoha. The surroundings are completely unfamiliar."

Fugaku's face twisted in disbelief.

"Are your eyes deceiving you? Did someone trap you in a genjutsu? How could the entire district just… move?"

"Patriarch, we've checked again and again. It's not an illusion. It's real."

Their voices overlapped with panic. Fugaku stood still, stunned.

He suddenly recalled the faint smile on Itachi's clone before it vanished.

"Itachi… is this the 'brand new future' you spoke of?"

He clenched his fists. "Wake everyone. Bring them out — gather the whole clan at the main gate. Send scouts to explore the area and report what's around us."

The orders spread quickly.

Soon, the Uchiha district was filled with noise. Ninjas awoke, civilians stumbled outside in confusion, and the entire clan gathered in front of the gate, staring in disbelief at the unfamiliar surroundings.

They murmured anxiously, reassured only when they saw Fugaku standing tall before them.

"Patriarch Fugaku, your response was fast," a calm voice echoed from the shadows.

Through the haze of firelight, a figure stepped forward, smiling faintly.

The crowd gasped.

"Shisui?!"

"Uchiha Shisui—is it really him?"

"It's been over two years. He looks older, but that face—there's no mistaking it."

"Could it be an enemy? Maybe a Transformation Technique?"
