Chapter 85 - The Vampire

Budapest.

After finding a new exit from the subway and returning to the surface, Li Qingyuan finally saw the name of the city on a nearby sign.

He had tried interrogating that werewolf earlier, hoping to extract some useful information—but unfortunately, the guy was a tough one.

Even after Li Qingyuan broke all five of his limbs, the beast refused to say a single meaningful word. In the end, he had no choice but to send it to heaven.

Werewolves had incredibly strong vitality. Even with half their heads blown apart, they could still regenerate. But when Li Qingyuan completely shattered its skull, that was the end of it—no signs of life at all.

After all, in most fantasy settings, werewolves were just lower-tier creatures. Things like resurrection through a drop of blood or immortality were simply impossible.

At best, their physical stats were about seven or eight times stronger than a normal human's. Roughly calculated, their constitution should've been around thirty to forty points.

Of course, whether it was thirty or forty, that was still far higher than his own stats right now.

At the moment, Li Qingyuan's status panel read:

Name: Li QingyuanRace: Male, Human (Earth)Class: Novice Black SorcererStrength: 5 (5)Agility: 8 (5)Constitution: 10 (5)Spirit: 16 (5)Title: Old Li Next DoorSkills: Art of Life, Water Affinity

He still had five free attribute points left. Originally, he'd planned to save them for emergencies—but judging by the current situation, it was better to spend them.

He added one point to Agility and poured the remaining four into Spirit. Instantly, his stats became:

Strength: 5 (5)Agility: 9 (5)Constitution: 10 (5)Spirit: 20 (5)**

Looking at the panel, it was obvious he was ridiculously unbalanced—no way this was the build of a proper mage!

But there was nothing he could do. His points were limited, and he still wasn't sure what kind of world this was.Since werewolves existed, it was at least a fantasy-type dimension.

Trying to play a battle-mage in such a world was basically suicide.

Although he had let that suspicious "female lead" slip away earlier, according to the logic of every fantasy movie ever made—where there are werewolves, there are vampires.

If he could just find a vampire's nest, that would surely trigger the next quest.

"Any fun bars around here?" he asked the taxi driver waiting outside the subway station.

"What kind of bar are you looking for?" the driver asked, glancing up.

"The kind with the most beautiful women—and the more secluded, the better."

Pulling a hundred-dollar bill from his pocket, Li Qingyuan slapped it onto the dashboard.

Even though this city wasn't in the U.S., he'd just checked the time earlier—apparently, it was the year 2002.

At this point in history, unless you were in some eccentric art film, U.S. dollars were still hard currency everywhere.

"Alright, hold on tight!" The driver snatched the bill, stuffed it into his pocket, and sped off.

There was no one more familiar with a city's underbelly than a taxi driver. Even the police couldn't dig up some of the things they knew.

"Vampires? You're here for an adventure too, huh?" the driver asked with a raised brow, clearly excited.

"Hungary has always been the birthplace of vampire legends! You know Count Dracula, right? He was Hungarian!"

"Romania? That's a lie! The real origin of vampires is here in Hungary! And rumor has it—there are still vampires in Budapest today!"

Once the driver got going, there was no stopping him. Li Qingyuan had only asked a single question, but the man was already giving him a full-on lecture.

Still, thanks to him, after about half an hour of driving, the taxi stopped in front of a rather secluded bar.

"Sir, are you sure about this? This place has a bad reputation. If you're just looking for some company, I can take you somewhere much better."

"No need. This place looks perfect."

Closing the car door, Li Qingyuan grabbed his suitcase and walked toward the bar.

The moment he stepped inside, a wave of pounding music hit him like a physical force. This was definitely an underground club—shadows swaying everywhere, and at the center of the bar, a nearly naked blonde woman was dancing seductively under flashing lights.

"First time in Hungary, handsome?" A young woman in a low-cut dress approached him as soon as he walked in.

"Yes, I'm traveling alone." He ordered two of the most expensive cocktails and handed one to her.

"All alone? Don't you get lonely at night?" the blonde asked coyly, tracing circles on his chest.

"Of course I do. But… is there somewhere more private? I'm a little shy." He frowned slightly, glancing at the writhing crowd.

"I know just the place. Follow me."

Without hesitation, the blonde grabbed his sleeve.

Neither of them even knew the other's name—but both understood perfectly what the other was after.

They slipped out of the bar and walked toward a dark alleyway.

"Here's fine," the blonde murmured, pressing herself against him and breathing softly into his ear.

"Isn't the soundproofing here a bit poor?"

"Relax. No one lives around here anymore—the whole block's empty." She whispered hotly into his ear, and with a sudden snap, two sharp fangs extended from her mouth.

"Don't worry, baby. I'll make you feel heavenly in just a moment."

She licked his neck—and bit down hard.

"Ah!"

A sharp scream pierced the night. Luckily, the area was deserted, or someone would've called the cops.

"My teeth! My teeth!" The blonde clutched her mouth in horror—her precious fangs had snapped clean off!

What the hell?

How was his skin that tough?!

She was a vampire—even if a low-tier one, her fangs were supposed to be her hardest feature. She could bite through steel!

"You've got guts, I'll give you that. Even dared to drink my wine." Li Qingyuan shook his head with mild amusement.

He was a black sorcerer. The moment he sensed something off about her, he'd taken precautions.

And honestly—drinking a black sorcerer's drink without hesitation? That woman must have had a death wish.
