Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 - Chance for Retribution

Time passed. When two in the afternoon arrived, Han Joon-seong and Cheon Seul-ah were already leaving the apartment. They had arranged a meeting place beforehand — a small restaurant in Songdo, by the beach, with a wide view of the ocean.

They arrived and took a seat, waiting. After about twenty minutes, Choi Yuna walked through the door. She was dressed casually — jeans, a simple shirt, a bag slung over her shoulder.

She scanned the room, spotted them, and walked over, sitting down at the table opposite the two of them.

"Good afternoon, Han Joon-seong."

He nodded. "Good afternoon, Miss Choi."

Choi Yuna turned to Cheon Seul-ah and extended her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, miss."

Cheon Seul-ah paused, staring at the offered hand. She didn't move.

Choi Yuna raised an eyebrow. "Ah. Yes. Of course."

Cheon Seul-ah seemed to snap out of it, reaching out to shake her hand.

The truth was, Ervin had forgotten that Cheon Seul-ah hadn't met Choi Yuna before for a moment. He hadn't thought about the fact that she would need to greet her properly. But after a moment, he remembered, and she shook her hand.

'Having multiple bodies is such a complicated affair!'

Choi Yuna smiled slightly, relaxed back into her chair, and spoke.

"Okay. So, you're a colleague of Mr. Han Joon-seong?"

Cheon Seul-ah nodded. "Ah, yes. Something like that. We're acquaintances."

Choi Yuna noticed her hesitation. "I see. So, what's your experience with gang fights and things like that?"

Cheon Seul-ah answered carefully. "Ah, well... not much, honestly. Nothing impressive. I was actually a student. But I can fight!"

Choi Yuna's eyes narrowed slightly. "You were a student?"

Cheon Seul-ah nodded. "Yes, I was a student."

"Really? What did you study?"

Cheon Seul-ah paused, thinking. She didn't remember what she had studied. 'Ah...'

She hesitated, then said, "It's a bit personal."

Choi Yuna clearly wasn't convinced. She studied Cheon Seul-ah with suspicion.

Han Joon-seong stepped in. "Look... She doesn't have much experience with gang stuff, but I guarantee she's strong."

Choi Yuna looked at him. "Really?"

"Yes."

He leaned forward. "Would you like to test her?"

Choi Yuna glanced at Cheon Seul-ah. She didn't look like a fighter. Her arms were slender, her face delicate. She had a serious expression, but she clearly seemed nervous.

She turned back to Han Joon-seong. "Sorry, but I don't want to hurt someone like that."

Han Joon-seong smiled slightly.

Cheon Seul-ah moved. Fast.

She reached across the table and grabbed a toothpick from the holder. In one smooth motion, she threw it directly at Choi Yuna.

Choi Yuna sensed the object coming, of course, and raised her hand, catching it without apparent effort. She looked at the toothpick in her palm, then back at Cheon Seul-ah, clearly surprised. The move had been fast and skilled.

She placed the toothpick back in the holder and smiled.

"Very good, Miss Cheon Seul-ah. But that alone isn't enough."

Choi Yuna studied her expression — with Auto Pilot taking control, her expression had become cold, aggressive, as if threatening anyone who looked at her. She was curious.

Then Ervin took control of Cheon Seul-ah's body. Her expression shifted into something more human, more approachable.

Cheon Seul-ah raised an eyebrow. "Ah, well... that was just a demonstration. I just wanted to show what I can do. If you want, we can test this hand-to-hand."

Choi Yuna looked at her. "Are you sure you want to do that?"

Cheon Seul-ah nodded. "Yes. I'm sure."

"You might get hurt."

Cheon Seul-ah smiled. "Don't worry about me."

Choi Yuna shrugged. "Alright. Let's go."

They both stood up. Han Joon-seong rose as well, and the three of them walked outside, searching for a more isolated spot. They found a quiet area away from the crowds.

Choi Yuna turned to face them, putting her purse down somewhere clean for the brawl. "Alright. To make it fair, let's set the conditions. You just need to—"

Before she could finish, Cheon Seul-ah was already charging at her, holding a butter knife she had taken from the restaurant. She thrust it toward Choi Yuna's eye.

Choi Yuna tilted her head back, dodging it. Cheon Seul-ah followed with a flurry of slashes. Choi Yuna weaved through them, evading with ease.

She analyzed the style. 'She's not bad. Clearly, she isn't a bad fighter at all. But at this level...'

She reached out to grab Cheon Seul-ah's wrist. But completely out of her sight, with the assistance of Stealth, Cheon Seul-ah kicked upward, striking Choi Yuna in the face. Her head snapped back for an instant.

Choi Yuna paused, closing her eyes, then lowered her head to look at Cheon Seul-ah with widened eyes. She was surprised.

She resumed with an attack of her own. She threw a punch at Cheon Seul-ah's stomach. The impact sent Cheon Seul-ah skidding backward about a meter. She stopped, clutching her abdomen. It clearly hurt.

Choi Yuna observed. 'Her Endurance isn't great, but at this level, it's enough.'

She advanced, throwing more attacks. She kicked at Cheon Seul-ah's head. Cheon Seul-ah did a sideways roll to dodge, landing on her feet.

Choi Yuna came at her with an overhead punch. Cheon Seul-ah dodged, and the punch struck the ground, sending a shockwave rippling outward.

They exchanged blows — punches, blocks, dodges. But Choi Yuna was clearly stronger and was gradually gaining ground in the fight, and it was only gradually because she wasn't even using her full strength. She was simply testing her.

Up above, Ervin felt wronged. This is how his fight using Han Joon-seong against her should have gone — not a mad dash for his own life taking multiple serious hematomas.

Resuming the fight, Choi Yuna continued to land several hits. Eventually, she tripped Cheon Seul-ah, who fell to the ground. Choi Yuna raised her leg for an axe kick.

Cheon Seul-ah rolled out of the way. Choi Yuna's foot slammed into the ground. As Cheon Seul-ah tried to rise, Choi Yuna moved behind her and grabbed her by the neck.

"That's enough," she said.

Cheon Seul-ah let out a sigh, half relief, but also disappointment.

Han Joon-seong, watching from a distance, also let out a sigh.

Ervin, observing the situation, thought: 'Damn. That woman is strong. I couldn't even land a good hit on her, even armed with a weapon. I thought I'd at least get one solid strike in.'

He looked at Choi Yuna's chin — the place where Cheon Seul-ah's kick had landed. There wasn't even a mark.

She let out another imaginary sigh. 'I'll get there someday.'

Cheon Seul-ah stood up, brushing the dirt off her clothes.

Choi Yuna spoke. "You're not bad, honestly. Sorry for underestimating you."

Cheon Seul-ah waved a hand. "Ah, no, no. There's nothing to apologize for. I understand. Thank you for worrying about me."

She nodded back.

They walked back to where Han Joon-seong was standing. Choi Yuna looked at him.

"Your friend is quite competent, I have to admit." She said, but then she looked back and forth between them and was curious. "Are you two siblings?"

Han Joon-seong paused. "Siblings?"

Choi Yuna gestured between them. "Yes. You're both strong, both good-looking, and honestly, you look alike."

Han Joon-seong looked at Cheon Seul-ah, studying her face. 'She looks like me?' He examined her features. Maybe the eyes, the shape of the face... but honestly, Ervin couldn't really distinguish Asian faces very well. He had only been here for less than a month; it was simply not possible.

They both stood there with confused expressions.

Choi Yuna shrugged. "Well. If you're not related, then never mind. But I think with her strength, we can work together. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt — I'll assume she's trustworthy."

Cheon Seul-ah bowed her head slightly. "Thank you. I promise she won't disappoint."

"Her?" Choi Yuna questioned.

"Me! I meant me! I won't disappoint!"

Up above, Ervin held his imaginary hand over his imaginary forehead. 'Controlling multiple bodies is SUCH A PAIN!! People will start thinking we're insane!'

He sighed.

'Anyway, it's good she was accepted. Exchanging contact info is next, and then she can go enter the Kkachi-pa.'

And just like he said, it went.

Choi Yuna exchanged contact info and asked a few more questions about her fighting style, even giving a few precious tips about fighting strategy to Cheon Seul-ah.

Which made Ervin even madder at her, since HE didn't receive any of these tips when he was controlling Han Joon-seong.
