Chapter 35 - Chapter 34. Unnecessary Luxury

Sofia could no longer get off the plane by herself—she had to be taken in a wheelchair. In the car, despite the doctor's efforts, the weakness intensified, and the physician insisted on using a gurney, so she was wheeled into the luxurious mansion lying down. This allowed her to examine the stucco on the ceiling and the mirror in the elevator that took her to the third floor. The faces of the numerous people who had come to meet her flashed by without leaving a mark on her memory.

She woke up after twenty-four hours. David outlined the plan of action for the near future. According to him, resuscitators with the necessary equipment were on standby in the adjacent room. But for now, their help was not needed—her blood pressure had been successfully raised with medication. The helicopter was also always ready, her husband assured her, having quickly settled into the role of a billionaire. It was a 15-minute helicopter ride to the hospital.

She would undergo some tests and examinations at home. For some, she would have to leave the house. Doctor Chow would accompany her always and everywhere. Professor Linda Björklund would soon come to meet and examine the patient.

Sophie found the strength to get up and eat. She even liked the black caviar. The bread was crispy and still warm—it had clearly been baked no more than a couple of hours ago.

On her phone, Sofia found several messages from Anna. In this reality, they had studied together and even chosen the same specialization—anesthesia. Her classmate wanted to visit her friend when she felt better.

David's office was in the next room. He was working from home so he could be near her all the time.

Sofia disciplined herself to give samples for tests and talk with the very charming Professor Björklund and with Doctor Chow, who was already like a member of the family. But deep down, she considered all these efforts useless. She already had a guess as to the cause of her ailment.
