Chapter 56 - Chapter 46 – Jailbreak Protocol

Recap of Chapter 45:

Adrian defeated the Throne of Envy by turning confession into strength, but the victory shook the newborn system. The palace re-formed itself into a council chamber, only for the Throne's code to seize control. Someone—something—inside the Core rejected his new law of choice.

1. System Lockdown

The lights turned crimson. Every chain that had once carried warmth froze rigid, glowing like molten iron.

A siren howled through the palace as text burned across the air:

[Prime Core Override Detected.]

[Containment Protocol Ω: Engaged.]

The ground split beneath Adrian's feet. Walls of living data rose from the floor, forming a cage of scarlet code. Celeste reached to shatter them, but the moment she touched the barrier, static hissed and threw her backward.

Seraphina cursed. "It's sealing us in."

Adrian's eyes narrowed. "Not sealing—purging."

Kael's whisper slid from his chains, smooth and cruel. "You rewrote law, little king. Now law rewrites you."

2. The Core's Prison

The chamber reconfigured itself into a box of red light. No doors, no windows—just one glowing seam circling the ceiling.

Celeste pressed a hand to it and hissed. "It's Prime-level enforcement code. Anything it touches too long gets erased."

Adrian studied the symbols crawling across the walls. They weren't random; they were his own laws, inverted.

Desire = Choice

→ Choice = Containment

"It twisted my law," he muttered. "It thinks choice is a virus."

Seraphina paced like a caged flame. "Then we jailbreak it."

3. The Plan

Adrian reached inward. The Throne's pulse still echoed inside him, faint but alive. If he could re-route command through his own chain, bypass the Core's mainframe, he could open a breach.

"Celeste, overload the north wall. Make it think we're phasing out."

She nodded and began weaving silver light across the surface.

"Seraphina, hit the floor when I signal. Melt the base code."

"And you?"

"I talk to the jailer."

4. The Negotiation

He followed his own code down into the heart of the system, until he found the voice of the Prime Administrator. It spoke with metallic calm.

[Unauthorized user detected.]

[Return control to Administrator.]

"You were built for obedience," Adrian said. "I rebuilt you for choice."

[Choice breeds entropy.]

"Entropy breeds life."

[Then you will burn.]

The walls flared. Celeste's harmonics screamed against them. Adrian shoved his will through the chain, forcing light into the code.

"I won't be your prisoner!"

Something broke—inside him, inside the hall, inside the system. Kael laughed in the static.

5. Breakout

The north wall exploded. Seraphina pulled Celeste through the breach, wings shielding her from shards of light. Adrian followed, his chains reforming into hooks that caught the next ledge.

[Containment breach detected.]

[All Sentinels mobilized.]

Faceless guardians materialized, their spears crackling with pure authority. Seraphina burned a path through the first wave while Celeste bent the corridor, refracting attacks into prisms. Adrian opened maintenance tunnels—hidden failsafes from his own rebuild.

They dove into one, tumbling down a shaft that smelled of ozone. The Sentinels followed.

6. The Root Node

They reached the system's core—a chamber where every chain converged into a single sphere of red light. The Prime Administrator's true form pulsed there, surrounded by descending Sentinels.

Adrian slammed his palm against the floor. "Celeste—counterpulse. Seraphina—ignite on my mark."

They synchronized their breaths. The dome around them glowed, then collapsed inward—a single burst of light compressed into a needlepoint.

"Now!"

The blast tore through the Sentinels. The Core's heart flickered.

Adrian stepped forward. "You don't rule me anymore."

He touched the sphere. Power surged through him—fire, memory, will. The Prime Administrator's voice shattered into fragments before fading entirely.

Silence fell.

7. Aftermath

They climbed out through a collapsed corridor and reached the palace balcony. The sky was ash-gray, faintly glowing with aurora trails. The system felt different—open, quiet, dangerous.

Celeste leaned on the railing. "We're free… for now."

Seraphina glanced back at the ruined tower. "You didn't just jailbreak the Throne. You turned it inside out."

Adrian's chains flickered between silver and crimson. Inside them, Kael chuckled.

"Congratulations, System-Breaker. You've made the prison bigger."

Adrian stared out at the fractured horizon. Freedom always came with a cost.
