Chapter 220 - The father who was born of betrayal

Despite Kim's wounds…

Despite the exhaustion weighing down his body…

He kept staring at the man standing before him.

Azrael spoke with a heavy calm:

"My son…"

But Kim interrupted him immediately.

"My son?

You… a father?"

He laughed.

He laughed for a long time.

He laughed more… and more… and more.

Then he said sharply:

"Never call me 'my son' again."

Azrael looked at him.

His voice grew lighter, almost transparent.

"Do you feel sorrow because you're my son, Kim?

My—"

Kim shouted in his face:

"I am not your child!"

He stepped forward.

"I'm a puppet.

A puppet stitched together to be miserable."

Then he pointed at him with contempt.

"So don't bother yourself.

I will never be happy."

He paused for a moment, then continued:

"I'm not happy that you're my father…

but I'm not sad either."

He sighed slowly.

"I just… want to understand."

He stepped closer.

"What does the word 'father' even mean

to trash like you?"

Azrael's eyes widened slightly.

But Kim continued:

"You brought me into this world knowing how it would end.

So tell me—did you know what would come out of it?"

His voice rose.

"If you wanted me… then why did you do all this?

Was I just the result of your pleasure?"

He went silent for a moment… then said bitterly:

"Tell me, Father…

do you actually understand what it means to be a father?"

He clenched his fist.

"Because I… wanted to know that feeling my entire life."

Then he shouted:

"But I came to hate it because of you!"

His voice kept rising.

Everyone in the dimension could hear him.

Yet no one dared move.

The king had given no orders…

but everyone understood.

One wrong move…

could mean death.

Kim stepped closer again.

Then—

He punched Azrael in the face.

Azrael fell to the ground.

Kim lunged on top of him immediately.

He screamed in his face:

"Because of you…

I don't even want to have children with my wife!"

His voice cracked.

"Because of you… I hate children!"

He grabbed his clothes violently.

"I was afraid…

afraid that I would become like you."

Then he shouted:

"A failed father!

A failure!

Worthless trash!"

He breathed heavily.

"I didn't ask much from you."

His eyes turned red.

"I didn't want my father to be an angel…

or a demon."

"I didn't ask you to be rich…

or poor."

"I didn't ask you to be a king…

or a slave."

His voice lowered.

"All I wanted…

was for you to be beside me."

A tear fell without him noticing.

"To feel that you were proud of me."

He clenched his teeth.

"I tried…

I tried so many times…

so many times… to make you proud."

He closed his eyes.

"But it was useless."

He opened them suddenly.

"Why?"

He screamed.

"Why did you hate me before you even saw me?!"

"Why did you judge me before I was born?!"

His voice shattered.

"That's not fair."

Then he whispered bitterly:

"How can I be a good child…

when my father is trash?"

Then he screamed at the top of his lungs:

"Trash!

TRAAAAASH!"

He breathed violently.

Then he said slowly:

"I came today…

to kill you."

Before he could continue—

Azrael interrupted him.

He spoke calmly:

"Are you finished speaking now?"

Kim froze for a moment.

Then he heard him say:

"You have no idea how much suffering your mother and I went through…

just to bring you into this world."

Kim's eyes widened.

"What?"

He shouted:

"Don't lie to me!"

He grabbed Azrael by the throat, digging his fingers in.

"I'm here to ask questions…

and you only answer."

He leaned closer.

"Why…

did you let me kill you?"

Azrael looked at him silently.

"I don't understand you."

Kim shouted:

"Don't play dumb!"

He tightened his grip.

"I know…

even if I give everything I have right now…

you will defeat me."

His eyes burned with anger.

"So why…

why did you let me kill you the first time?"

Azrael stayed silent for a moment.

Then he spoke slowly:

"Even if I am trash in your eyes right now…"

He took a slow breath.

"If I had killed you then…

wouldn't I truly become trash?"

He looked directly into his eyes.

"How could I kill my own child?"

Then he said calmly:

"Are you stupid?"

"Do you think I lived all these years just to kill you in the end?"

Silence.

"Kim… despite everything you think you know about me…"

Then he said slowly:

"Believe it or not…

I'm actually a good person."

A laugh escaped Kim's mouth.

"Hahahaha…"

Then he laughed harder.

"Hahahahaha…"

He bent slightly from the intensity of the laughter.

"A good person?

My father?"

But Azrael interrupted him.

"But I did not expect what happened."

Kim stopped laughing.

Azrael continued:

"I never imagined you would awaken your power on your own."

He looked at Kim's chest.

"Even though your mother sealed every ounce of power you had."

He raised his eyes to him.

"How, Kim?

How did you do it?"

Kim summoned his sword.

He pointed it at his father.

"It doesn't matter what happened."

Then he said coldly:

"What matters now… is the truth."

He stepped forward.

"How did you marry an angel…

and how did you give birth to me?"

In an instant—

Azrael disappeared.

Then appeared beside him.

He said calmly:

"We should sit for a moment…

so I can tell you."

Kim replied immediately:

"I won't sit."

He clenched his fist.

Suddenly—

Space changed.

The universe around them closed in.

Azrael looked surprised.

"You can change locations too?"

Kim answered:

"Yes."

Then he said:

"This is not a world.

Just a place in infinity."

He looked around.

"Here… time doesn't respond."

Then he looked at him coldly.

"If you try anything…

I'll kill you."

Azrael laughed mockingly.

"Didn't you just say you couldn't kill me?"

Then he vanished for a moment…

and appeared behind him.

"Don't be afraid."

He sighed.

"I told you…

I will never kill my child."

He paused for a moment.

Then he said:

"In fact… I'm happy

that you've reached this level of power."

He looked at him slowly.

"But the truth…"

He said calmly:

"I am not a demon."

Kim's eyes widened.

Azrael continued:

"In the past…

I was from a planet similar to Earth."

"And I had a family."

He smiled faintly.

"I was just like you."

"I loved my mother very much…

more than my father."

He sighed.

"There were five of us brothers."

Silence.

Then he said:

"But that happiness…

was a lie."

His eyes turned cold.

"My mother did not love me."

"Nor my father."

"Nor my brothers."

"She only used them…

for power."

Then he continued slowly:

"One dry night…

everyone gathered in the kingdom…"

His voice deepened.

"To kill my father."

He lifted his head.

"He was the king."

"And he loved her…

and had us with her."

But his voice darkened.

"But she…

allied herself with a neighboring kingdom."

"And arranged a trip…"

He smiled bitterly.

"It was a trap."

"To kill my father…

and kill my brothers."

He sighed.

"I was away from the carriage for a moment…"

"When I returned…"

He closed his eyes.

"I found them all… dead."

He opened his eyes slowly.

"All except her."

Then he said:

"She tried to lie to me…"

"But I realized the truth."

"If they wanted to kill her…

why was she the last one alive?"

Silence.

"Then when I ran…"

"She shouted behind me."

'Catch him.'

He clenched his fist.

"I escaped…

but they caught me."

"And they killed me…

in front of her."

He stared into the void.

"I looked at her face."

"She didn't care."

"As if I were…

an animal being slaughtered."

Long silence.

Then he said:

"After my death…

I made a contract with hell."

"I returned to life…

as a demon."

"In exchange for revenge."

Then he smiled coldly.

"But what truly drove me mad…"

"Was that on the day of her coronation…"

He raised his head.

"Everyone was cheering for her…

as if she were an angel."

Then he looked at Kim.

"This is humanity, Kim."

His voice grew deeper.

"My father died not long ago…"

"And no one mourned him."

"Even though he helped everyone."

"He was a great father."

He sighed.

"But I loved my mother more."

Then he said bitterly:

"Because she cared about my father…

more than she cared about us."

"So my love for her grew."

"And I believed she loved him."

He raised his eyes.

"But she didn't love my father."

"She loved his power."

"His money."

"His throne."

Then he said slowly:

"Why are humans obsessed with money and power?"

He sighed.

"Money has value, yes."

"Anyone who says otherwise is lying."

Then he smiled mockingly.

"But not to the point…

where you kill the ones you love."

"Or betray them."

"Or enslave others…"

And he fell silent.
