Jasmine's POV
The hallway felt smaller than ever, the fluorescent lights flickering above like nervous stutters. Zara's words… "Say goodbye to everything"... echoed in my mind, mingling with the faint chime of her phone. The sound of our own footsteps, and the distant security voices, barely registered.
Ares gripped my elbow lightly. "Come on." he said, voice tight. "We need to get to the control room. Now."
I nodded, heart hammering. The tension did not leave my chest, it only settled heavier, like a stone pressing down. Every step we took seemed to reverberate against the narrow walls, a countdown to whatever Zara had just unleashed.
We burst through the door to KnightCorp's private operations room, a cold, sterile space lined with monitors and blinking servers. The hum of electronics filled the air. I sank into a chair, trying to steady my breathing. Ares went straight to the main console, fingers flying across the keyboard.
