"Hmm, Hagrid, do you know what kind of magical creature has a pair of huge yellow eyes, can kill instantly, and yet leaves the body undamaged?" Kaisen said, taking a tactical sip of his tea.
"Yellow eyes, kills instantly and doesn't damage the body… I only know two: the Manticore and the Basilisk. They can both kill with their eyes, though the victim has to look them directly in the eye. Why do you ask?" Hagrid scratched his head.
Kaisen stroked his chin, finally deciding not to tell Hagrid about the reappearance of one of Lord Voldemort's Horcruxes. Instead, he evaded the question with another matter: "You know that abandoned lavatory on the second floor of the Castle? There's a ghost named Myrtle there. I'm investigating her death."
"Oh… um… why are you suddenly investigating her? Um… I knew a little about that incident back then. Do you know how I was expelled from Hogwarts?" Hagrid said, suddenly looking a bit embarrassed.
"Hmm?"
"First off, I absolutely did not kill anyone. I was framed back then, and the person who framed me… he was quite a popular figure at school back then, a very famous person, in short." Hagrid took a sip of tea to warm himself up.
"He was the one who framed me. Myrtle Warren died in that lavatory, and the school launched an investigation. That person reported to the school that my Aragog did it, but firstly, he promised me he wouldn't hurt anyone, and secondly, even if we take a huge step back and say it really was Aragog, Warren's body would absolutely not have been so intact." Hagrid said, biting his rock cake fiercely.
"Um… who is Aragog?"
"He's an Acromantula. He's in the Forbidden Forest now."
Kaisen took a sip of tea. He briefly recalled an Acromantula specimen he had seen in Snape's office earlier.
Emm…
Lord Voldemort, that old man, made the school aware of the existence of Acromantula. That might be the only good thing he has ever done in his life.
"And then? Go on." He continued to ask.
"Then… uh… it was just like that, I guess. The idiots at the Ministry of Magic didn't care about Warren's intact body at all. After all, that poor child was Muggle-born, and her parents only knew there was a magical world."
"The Ministry of Magic naturally wouldn't investigate with all their heart. They just needed to punish me quickly, close the case, and then put on a show to tell the parents of the Little Wizards that Hogwarts was safe again under the Ministry of Magic's investigation."
Hagrid leaned back in his chair, saying dully.
"…"
"By the way, it's been so many years since this happened. Why did you suddenly think of investigating?" Hagrid asked.
"At first, I just wanted to find the monster that killed Myrtle, but now there's an additional reason. Do you want to keep bearing the blame of being a so-called murderer?" Kaisen pulled out his diamond pickaxe, chipped off a piece of rock cake, and soaked it in milk as he spoke.
"Oh… thank you, Kaisen."
"No problem. The Manticore and the Basilisk you mentioned, do you have any specific information on them, or do you know of any books about them?"
"I'll organize some information and give it to you later."
"Thanks a lot."
Hagrid leaned forward, his palm-sized hand gently patting Kaisen's shoulder: "I should be the one saying thank you. You are thoroughly helping me. I don't have your powerful magic, nor your quick mind. I can't help you with other things, but fortunately, I know enough about magical creatures."
"I can't just hide in this house, eating rock cake and drinking hot coffee, while you brave the elements in the Castle helping me investigate the real culprit and clear my name, can I? Although I'm prone to making a mess of other things, I can still do what's within my power."
"Okay, okay, this isn't just for you, or rather, you're just a bonus. I'm doing this for Myrtle, the victim, and for the Little Wizards, who are potential victims."
Kaisen wanted to pat Hagrid's shoulder, but there was a rather large tea table in between, so he could only pat Hagrid's large head, which was almost touching the tea table.
"Hmm…"
"Emmmm…"
Kaisen rarely heard a tremor in Hagrid's voice, so he said no more and quietly left.
After all, that big man still needed to save some face.
Back in his office, Kaisen picked up a piece of chalk and wrote "Manticore" and "Basilisk" on the blackboard, then stared at the blackboard.
Not long after, he had nothing to show for it except for his eyes hurting.
Fortunately, he decided not to deduce anything for now. He tucked the chalk behind his ear and pulled out a bottle of grape juice [fermented version] from under his desk.
Just as he was selecting a goblet from the cabinet, the red crystal ball on his desk suddenly lit up.
Kaisen casually pressed it, and only then did the office door open in the distance.
Neville was smarter this time. He was riding a flying broomstick, which looked like Harry's Nimbus 2000, slowly flying over.
Although Neville's broomstick riding skills meant he couldn't go as fast as those in the Quidditch team, it was still infinitely better than walking.
"Hello, Professor."
"Mm-hmm, here for class? Or something else?"
Kaisen subconsciously wanted to pour Neville a glass, then suddenly realized something was off and quickly switched to a cup of tea.
Neville sat down and pulled a parchment from his pocket, spreading it on the desk.
"This is what I designed for Harry. Harry, as a Seeker, finds it uncomfortable to wear both goggles and glasses, so I want to make him something like this—glasses that can block wind and protect his eyes, and won't fall off."
Kaisen leaned in to look at the parchment. It was more of a concept drawing than a design drawing, as it only showed an image of a simple round-rimmed pair of glasses with a description of its effects.
"Good idea. Have you designed the accompanying materials and Runes?"
"On the back, Professor."
Kaisen flipped it over, took a look, and praised it.
"Not bad, you're learning well."
"Actually, I consulted the Runes Professor," Neville said, a little embarrassed.
