Chapter 117 - HISD Chapter 117 Vision Yi Meng, Mediating the Avengers

HISD Chapter 117 Vision Yi Meng, Mediating the Avengers

Infiltrating Wakanda's network systems in this earlier Marvel timeline was far easier than it would be ten years later. That was thanks to Yi Meng's vastly upgraded computational power after becoming Vision.

Although his artificial intelligence consciousness couldn't fully detach from the Vision body as its terminal, when it came to network intrusion, there was no one on Earth who could match him.

Over the past year, Vision Yi Meng had quietly taken control of nearly the entire Marvel Earth's network systems.

This included, but was not limited to: the Avengers, Stark Industries, S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters and branches, Wakanda's national systems, major state institutions, and even surviving hidden Hydra bases scattered around the world!

Other than the S.W.O.R.D. station in orbit, Vision Yi Meng had wandered through the back-end of every major system on Earth and even left himself a backdoor to return at will.

In other words, Vision Yi Meng practically held the world in his palm. If he wished, he could collapse the global economy or plunge the planet into doomsday at any moment.

So exposing Wakanda's secrets? That was child's play.

"Oh, it's begun already…"

Yi Meng's mind stirred as he sensed the chaos erupting on the other side of New York City.

He remained seated on the sofa, the gem on his brow glowing faintly, with no intention of moving.

Wanda, however, had already started packing their things, ready to leave whenever Yi Meng decided.

She held no attachment to the Avengers. As long as she was with Yi Meng, she could go anywhere.

Not long after—

The television cut to a breaking news report, pulling Wanda from the bedroom in shock.

"Ten minutes ago, Wakanda's King was killed in a sudden terrorist attack on the third floor of the diplomatic building."

"The suspect is believed to be the Winter Soldier, sighted fleeing the scene."

"Following this, Prince T'Challa of Wakanda, clad in a black panther-like combat suit, pursued alongside Captain America Steve Rogers and the Winter Soldier across an elevated highway."

"Currently, the three have been detained by Colonel Rhodes, War Machine, and his unit."

…

Wanda's eyes widened as her lips parted slightly. "The King of Wakanda… dead? And Captain America… why is he involved? And with the Winter Soldier of Hydra no less?"

Vision Yi Meng spoke as if he already knew: "Because of the Winter Soldier, of course. They're… how should I put it… comrades-in-arms, best friends from the Second World War."

"So that's their connection."

Wanda froze, then realized the situation had spiraled out of control.

If Captain America insisted on protecting Hydra's Winter Soldier, it would drive an even deeper wedge between the already divided Avengers.

"In the end… it's come to this."

Vision Yi Meng whispered softly.

He knew this was the spark igniting the Avengers' Civil War. From this moment, every member would have to choose a side.

On the surface, the cause was the Sokovia Accords.

But in truth, the core issue was the fate of the Winter Soldier, Bucky.

Decades ago, under Hydra's brainwashing, Bucky committed countless atrocities—among them, murdering Tony Stark's parents with his own hands.

For that, Iron Man sought vengeance.

But Captain America, out of loyalty and his own vision of justice, intended to shield his lifelong friend.

Thus, the Avengers were bound for inevitable conflict, a battle that could only end in pain and loss.

"Yi Meng…"

Wanda's worry deepened as she looked at him, wanting to speak but hesitating.

"I know. You can't just walk away without doing something, right?"

Yi Meng smiled faintly, understanding her concerns.

After a moment's thought, he shrugged and stood. "Fine. Before I leave the Avengers, I'll play the villain just once."

After all—

Steve Rogers had taken care of Wanda and Pietro.

Tony Stark had given Yi Meng a home. And he was also Morgan Stark's father.

So before leaving this doomed battlefield, Vision Yi Meng would step in.

"Wait here, Wanda. I'll be back soon."

With that, Yi Meng rose into the air, his silver-haired human guise shifting into his vibranium form. He phased effortlessly through the balcony glass.

"Make sure to keep them from killing each other, Yi Meng! And be careful yourself!"

Wanda called after him, her voice heavy with concern.

Yi Meng gave her a casual OK gesture. His golden cape snapped behind him as he broke the sound barrier, vanishing into the horizon as a streak of dark-gold light.

…

Meanwhile—

At a private airfield in New York.

Under the blazing sun—

Two groups faced each other across ten meters of open space. The air was taut with tension, emotions flaring hot and volatile.

If the world could see this, it would erupt in shock.

On one side stood Iron Man Tony Stark in his Mark armor, flanked by Black Widow Natasha, War Machine Rhodes, and Prince T'Challa, the Black Panther.

On the other side stood Captain America Steve Rogers, clad in his retro blue suit, carrying his vibranium shield. At his side were Falcon Sam Wilson, Hawkeye Clint Barton, and the Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes.

These were comrades who had fought together in the Battle of New York and the Age of Ultron. Now, they stood divided.

"Steve, surrender. You won't get far with him in tow."

Iron Man's eyes glowed cold white as they fixed on Cap and the Winter Soldier.

"Tony, I'm sorry for what happened in the past," Steve said solemnly. "But Bucky was brainwashed—used as a weapon. It wasn't his choice."

"This is your last chance. I'm out of patience."

Tony clenched his fists. "Is this all you've got?"

"Not quite." Falcon tilted his head toward his shoulder, where a tiny figure waved.

It was Ant-Man, Scott Lang.

"Good. We have reinforcements too. That makes it fair."

As Iron Man spoke coldly—

Thwip!

A white webline snapped across the air.

Landing with agility on a nearby car was a slim teenager in a red-and-blue spider suit.

Spider-Man, Peter Parker.

"Whoa! The Avengers! This is amazing!"

The high schooler's excitement bubbled over. He looked around wide-eyed, more like a fanboy than a fighter.

Steve's grip on his shield tightened. "Looks like this fight is unavoidable."

"Do we really have to, Steve?" Falcon's voice was laced with doubt.

"We're going through with this." Tony's voice was steady, his arc reactor blazing brighter.

"Then come!" War Machine's thrusters roared as he hovered low, transforming into a flying tank with weapons aimed at Cap's team.

"No choice…" Natasha drew her guns, her jaw tense.

"We must bring the killer to justice!" Black Panther's gaze burned into Bucky.

"Then let's go!" Hawkeye raised his bow, reaching for an arrow.

"I'm not a killer…"

Bucky's eyes hardened, his metal fist clenching tight.

Neither side yielded.

Iron Man's faction against Captain America's faction.

Those who signed the Sokovia Accords against those who refused.

Those who condemned the Winter Soldier against those who protected him.

The clash was inevitable.

And just as both sides moved to strike—

BOOM!

A sonic boom tore across the sky.

Thud!

A towering golden figure descended between them, landing hard enough to crack the tarmac. His chest bore the iconic S-shield, his cape fluttering in the wind.

Both factions froze, eyes locking on the flawless vibranium form.

"Vision," Steve spoke first, wary. "Which side are you choosing?"

"Come with me. You're not here to stop us, are you?" Tony asked, his voice heavy.

"I'm not on anyone's side. This is your feud, not mine."

Yi Meng's tone was calm, almost casual. "As for stopping you… Wanda wanted me to, but honestly, that's far too troublesome."

Then why are you here?

As if answering the thought they all shared, Yi Meng's golden eyes flickered faintly red. His voice was as even as ever:

"I won't mediate. But if you really want a battle… then let me be your opponent."

"Come at me together."

The words were spoken gently, almost lightly—yet they silenced the airfield. Every Avenger stood frozen in shock.
