The surge of power flowed through Goku's body, and this time he didn't feel any pain. His confidence in defeating the so-called "Dark Man" rose sharply.
Bardock gave a small smirk.
Bardock: "So… you're planning to beat me with just that power?"
Goku clenched his fists, serious but fearless.
Goku: "Hmph! Last time I lost to you because I wasn't good enough. But now I'm stronger, and I've mastered Kaio-ken better than before. With Super Saiyan Blue, I can keep my power stable. This time… I won't lose!"
Inside, Goku thought to himself: Even if this Dark Man got stronger, I've gotten stronger too. As long as he's not immortal, he's not unbeatable!
But what if he knew… that the one in front of him wasn't some Dark Man at all, but his own father?
Bardock didn't reveal the truth. He decided to play along.
Bardock (thinking):No need to expose myself yet. Let's keep this act going. It'll be good for him to learn there's always someone stronger out there.
Goku narrowed his eyes at Bardock's calm smile.
Goku: "How long do you plan on keeping this form?! If you don't transform now, it'll be too late!"
He powered up, his aura raging, his killing intent clear. But his martial artist's pride stopped him from striking recklessly.
Even Bardock could tell—his son was already losing his cool.
Bardock: "Transform? You don't get it. With your current power, you're not even close to forcing me to transform. Don't get too confident."
Bardock crossed his arms casually, while Goku's Kaio-ken aura flared.
Goku: "Arrogant!!!"
In a flash, he rushed forward, exploding with godly power. His speed was enough to shatter space itself, appearing in front of Bardock in less than an instant. His fist, glowing with blue and red energy, shot straight for Bardock's face.
Bardock: "This speed… too slow."
To anyone else, Goku was blindingly fast. But to Bardock, it was like watching a snail crawl. With just a tilt of his head, he dodged the strike and countered with a palm strike.
A deafening BOOM tore through the sky. The shockwave sent Goku flying like a cannonball, crashing far outside West City.
On the ground, everyone watching froze.
Bulma: "No way… even with Super Saiyan Blue and Kaio-ken, Goku's losing?! Why is this fake Goku so strong?! Even Zeno's power couldn't erase him completely…"
She felt despair, imagining their whole timeline collapsing.
Beerus, lounging nearby, spoke calmly:
Beerus: "Zeno's power can erase everything. If this man isn't gone, then he's no Dark Man or Zamasu. He's someone else entirely."
Trunks blinked in shock.
Trunks: "Wait… so you mean… this person who looks like Goku… isn't the Dark Man at all?!"
Bulma gasped, speechless.
Beerus said nothing more, only watching the fight. Deep inside, he already knew Whis was hiding something.
Far from the city, Goku forced himself upright, clutching his chest where Bardock's palm strike had left a burning mark.
Goku (gritting his teeth): "Damn… fighting him is like nothing I've faced before. I can't even keep up!"
Bardock appeared behind him without a sound.
Bardock: "What's wrong? If this is all you've got, you're not even a warm-up. You're too weak, Kakarot."
Goku spun in shock, barely dodging Bardock's strike.
It reminded him of when he first faced Beerus as a Super Saiyan 3… completely outclassed.
Bardock: "Your reflexes are sharp… but how long can you keep dodging?"
Goku realized it—his doubled Kaio-ken wasn't enough.
Goku (thinking):His strength… it's on another level! If I don't push beyond my limit, I'll lose for sure!
With a deep breath, he roared:
Goku: "Kaio-ken… TRIPLE!!!"
His aura exploded, red flames overwhelming his blue godly glow. His power skyrocketed far beyond its limit.
Bardock grinned.
Bardock: "That's more like it. Now show me how far you can go."
The true battle between father and son had only just begun.
Goku: "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!"
Blue godly ki fused with the blazing red Kaio-ken aura, rising higher and higher until the energy towered like a giant flame. The sky darkened, thunder roared, and the earth itself shook under the pressure.
Bardock stood firm, completely unfazed.
Bardock (calmly): "So… you pushed Kaio-ken even higher. But this power is unstable. It's only a fake strength."
From his perspective, Goku's power had shot up to terrifying levels, but Bardock didn't even blink. Kaio-ken was always a double-edged sword. If the enemy isn't defeated quickly, the one who pays the price is the user.
Goku pressed his palms together, forming his iconic stance.
Goku: "Kamehame… HAAAAA!!!"
A massive beam of blue and white energy roared forth, tearing through the heavens like a dragon unleashed. The attack's scale could threaten entire worlds.
But Bardock didn't move.
Bardock: "Impressive energy… but the attack itself is far too simple."
He raised one hand lightly. A vortex of energy formed in his palm, sucking in the Kamehameha as if it were nothing.
Goku (shocked): "W-What?!"
No matter how much power he poured in, the beam was swallowed whole. Finally, Goku cut off the flow, panting, eyes wide. His strongest strike… hadn't even made Bardock flinch.
From the sidelines, Vegeta clenched his fists, sweat dripping down his face.
Vegeta (thinking):Damn it! Even after pushing Kaio-ken with Super Saiyan Blue, Kakarot can't scratch him! Who the hell IS this guy?!
Back at Capsule Corp, everyone was watching through Whis' vision. Trunks was pale.
Trunks: "He blocked Goku's Kamehameha… with one hand… who IS this monster?!"
Piccolo frowned deeply.
Piccolo: "That wasn't just blocking. His aura alone swallowed the blast. The difference in power… it's beyond anything we've seen."
Even Beerus' expression hardened.
Beerus (thinking):Goku's Blue Kaio-ken could rival me at times… and yet this outsider brushed it off like dust. This is… dangerous.
On the battlefield, Bardock hooked a finger, provoking Goku.
Bardock: "Come on, Kakarot. Is that all?"
Goku's anger spiked.
Goku: "Don't underestimate me!!! If x5 Kaio-ken isn't enough… then I'll go higher!!"
His aura exploded again, the crimson flames completely swallowing his blue godly glow. His hair and eyes shifted, tinted by the burning scarlet. Veins bulged as his body screamed in protest.
Goku: "Ten times Kaio-ken!!!"
The ground split beneath him as his power skyrocketed. For a moment, even Bardock raised his eyebrows.
Bardock (smirking): "Finally… something a little more interesting. Show me, Kakarot. How far can you push this borrowed strength?"
With a roar, Goku launched himself forward, moving faster than sound could follow. His fist, glowing red and blue, rocketed straight for Bardock.
But Bardock calmly tilted his head and caught Goku's wrist mid-swing.
Goku (shocked): "Nani?!"
Bardock's hand tightened.
Bardock: "Too early for you to land a hit on me."
With a surge of force, Bardock hurled Goku skyward. Dozens of golden energy blasts instantly followed, chasing him down. Goku twisted and weaved, narrowly dodging, bursting them apart with desperate counters.
Even at x10 Kaio-ken, Goku was struggling to keep up.
But he wasn't about to quit. His Saiyan blood boiled.
Goku (thinking):No matter how strong he is… I'll break through him!!
The two charged again, colliding in the sky. The explosion ripped the land apart for miles, space itself shattering from their clash.
This time, Goku calmed his attacks. His strikes were fierce but measured, blending offense with defense.
But Bardock, almost playfully, blocked everything. He didn't even counter. He was letting Goku burn himself out.
Bardock (thinking):Kaio-ken eats away at the body. The longer he drags this out, the faster he'll fall. There's no need for me to hurry. The only one running out of time… is him.
