Argent's POV
We left the main land and headed towards the city close to the central city. Uncle Neraid kept yapping on about how he was the best and unbeatable when he was young.
In his words: "I was very good and talented when I was young. I was the best in archery and spells and I was handsome. Many ladies and men climbed into my bed. Tell you what, I was very selective okay? Don't think I'm cheap. I selected a few just to satisfy them. Ofcourse it was out of pity. Am I not very magnanimous?" He dramatically placed his hands on his hips and posed in a clumsy yet sexy way. His eyes were shining like a puppy fishing for praise
We've been traveling for a month already and I got to know that the calm and composed visage he portrays outside is just a mask. His born behavior is jovial and enthusiastic.
I accommodated him and nodded seriously.
"Uncle is indeed very handsome and amiable. There's no one that won't like you."
He took a deep breath and paused.
"There is someone who doesn't like me." His tone was sour and full of mockery. I pulled him towards a tea house.
These taverns were for relaxation. People normally went there to relax or to listen to gossip.
We sat at an inconspicuous table near a barely noticeable corner. The tavern was busy and full of boisterous noise. Some were shouting orders and others were engrossed in juicy gossip.
We caught in on a very useful information.
"The Green Tear that went missing after the battle a century ago has appeared on Mirage Mountain."
"The Green Tear can increase one's attacking force without draining mental energy. It is very useful in battles."
"It is a precious gem born from the essence of the moon and nature."
"I wonder why it will appear on Mirage Mountain."
"Was it not said that the beast that fought alongside the Sovereign escaped towards Mirage Mountain?"
"So you mean the gem was with the beast?"
"Certainly. If it had fallen into the hands of those disgusting creatures who prey on others will this world be peaceful?"
"That seem like something those creatures will do."
"I heard there are a lot of people currently marching towards Mirage Mountain."
"Anyway, if we go, we are only going to lay our life's there. I'm not risking it "
I turned and looked at Uncle. It seemed he also had the same idea.
If we can't get the Green Tear, I don't believe the beast carried only the gem with it. Uncle and I left the tavern and decided to gather more information.
A small crowd gathered in front of a stall selling artifacts. We decided to check it out.
Two men were locked in a fight moving with practiced ease and swinging their swords as if it weighed nothing.
Their strikes were powerful and aimed to kill. You could tell at a glance that they practiced the Assasin blade.
"Brat! I sent you to welcome a guest and you went to fight with him? Is this the smartness you Mentioned?" A voice thundered. It was that of a senior.
The brawl stopped and the two men turned to the old man who had just appeared out of thin air.
The one in a green top and black pants ran over.
"Grandpa, this guy here wanted to grub the pearl necklace over there from me." The young man complained.
The old man snorted and turned to the other one who looked more mature than his age.
He was wearing a white long sleeves with a brown sleeveless coat and his scabbard was hanging on his waist. His black boots fitted perfectly. He was quite handsome too.
"Lord Daveon, sorry for my grandson's disrespect. I will make it up to you later."
The old man greeted respectfully. The guy just nodded and folded his arms on his chest. Quite arrogant.
"Then let's continue at home. Please Lord Daveon, if you don't despise us, can you rest in our abode?"
The guy nodded.
"Senior, can you take us along? We came from a far away place and needs some water." I turned to uncle Neraid and gave him a thumbs up in my heart. He's shameless.
"If our guest here doesn't mind."
The old man left the decision for someone else to make. Lord Daveon sized us up and walked ahead without a word.
"Is that an affirmative?" Uncle Neraid scratched his head in confusion. I gave him an eye and followed behind the old man.
